PS3 [UPDATE] webMAN MOD 1.46.00 - Games mounted from XMB without webbrowser_plugin (using idle_plugin)

Update (2/2/17/) -- v1.46.01
Original Article (Jan 31, 2017)
Plugin development continues on the PS3 for Custom firmware users, this week alone we have seen some new features added lin PSNpatch by KW (w./ Homebrew Blocker) and we have seen deank back with new updates to webMAN that added NTFS Support / a new XMB game loading that no longer uses the web browser trick (webbrowser_plugin), in other words the flash you see when mounting a game on the XMB In,webMAN MOD v1.46.00 the plugin incorporates that function but in a different way, this is due to the differences under the hood of the plugin. As webMAN MOD contain different support for various add-on/features that the original project by deank does not support/contain so the usage and handling of things has to be done differently to fit each project the best, for an explanation that is far better then i could offer i suggest checking out the differences between the implementation by deank and then by aldostools as its very well explained in our forums by
@bguerville .

  • Update (2/2/17) webMAN MOD 1.46.01
    • FTP Server uses again the same algorithm on all editions.
In 1.46.00, the FTP Server in full edition was based on the original webMAN due initial issues with NTFS library. The issue now has been fixed

  • webMAN MOD 1.46.00
    • Games now are mounted directly from XMB without the webbrowser_plugin
Thanks to deank for the new XMB proxy included in webMAN 1.46
    • Re-structured the project : Moved all the sub-projects to _ Projects _ folder

    via Aldostols

I have updated wm_proxy, which now is 40% smaller ;) only 2968 bytes.
    SRC: https://github.com/aldostools/webMAN-MOD/tree/master/_Projects_/wm_proxy

In my tests I had issues opening the Internet Search option (found under Network.menu of XMB). So in wMM 1.46.00, I used idle_plugin, instead of kensaku_plugin or xai_plugin (which is already used by CFW Settings menu). According to psdevwiki, this idle_plugin doesn't have subs in the interfaces, so I guess it is safe to remap it.

I also omitted the mapping of .rco, because it's redundant (there is one file in dev_flash). This saves a few extra bytes in code.

    webMAN MOD 1.45.11
    • Added direct NTFS support to 'Full Edition'
    • Thanks to deank, freddy38510, bguerville, Zar, Joonie, Estwald.
      • Added support for auto-mount game when an USB drive is connected
        • 'Check for AUTOBOOT.ISO on startup' must be checked
        • The USB drives to be checked are the ones selected in /setup.ps3 (except /dev_ntfs)
        • The game must be named AUTOMOUNT.ISO or a JB game copied to the root of the drive
      • Added /minver.ps3

Go to the wMM setup page.
Uncheck the Autoplay option.
You can also try unchecking the Play Disc combo at the bottom of the setup page if you find that the combo messes with your habits.
Save the settings & reboot.

Also make sure that your folders or iso files names don't contain the string "[auto]" otherwise they will be launched automatically on mount.
Hey thank you for your advice, I tried to uncheck the "Auto Play" option in webman setup page but it didnt work. Then I scrolled down to the bottom of page and unchecked the "play disc" combo which appears as L2 + start. This time it worked. It didnt auto start game after mouting it.

There is an "Auto-Play" option in /setup.ps3 that you can disable.
Also try updating to the latest build.

If "Auto-Play" is enabled, you can make an exception holding L2 while the game is being mounted.
If "Auto-Play" is disabled, you can auto-start a game holding L2 while it is being mounted.

In other words, holding L2 while mounting a game does the oposite to what is selected in Auto-Play option.

I also tried your suggestion, I unchecked the auto play option, but left the "play disc" combo at the bottom of page checked. Either I held L2 or not, it still auto started game after mounting it. As you said holding L2 while iso is mounting will stop game auto star (if auto play is enabled) and start game( if auto play is disable) but as far as I try, the only option to stop auto play after mounting iso is to uncheck both "auto play" and "play disc combo" options.

Im using rebug cobra 4.81.2 and just updated to latest webman mod 1.46

Hy @aldostools where is the column where you can choose to disable full CFW features or on only fake disable?
that column is not there any more!

Also thank you for yhe update its great to see still acftive.

This feature should not really be used by anyone except devs for testing.
Partially disabling syscalls is NOT a good practice for the average user.
It's recommended to use psnpatch to take care of the cfw completely when going online.

FYI in the combo list on setup page, you get the opportunity to decide if both Ccapi & PS3MAPI should get disabled as well.
Of course it should be kept checked by default for the reasons above.

Try to re-enable the Play Disc combo again, save & restart. Then test if the problem comes back.
The issue may not happen again.
If it does, just keep the combo disabled...

This is a browser setting, nothing to do with webman.
Just launch the browser, open the context menu by pressing the Triangle pad button then choose Tools->Confirm Browser Close->Off
Voilà.
Thanks, glad to get rid of that confirmation! Worked great!

I recommend not to use the feature unless you have a very good reason but note that you can still use the PS3MAPI page to partially disable the syscalls... Look at
http://localhost/home.ps3mapi

Of course you must use a wMM version that includes PS3MAPI.

@aldostools thank you very much.
i have a request can you make an extra option in ps3netsrv to generate the game list locally in the pc then send it to the ps3, bc i have a lot of games and the ps3 con't do it very will, and like this i don't need to use the memory to the MAX (i think).

sorry for my bad english, and thanks again.

Thanks for the suggestion.
There are several options to deal with the problem you mention...
For example, we could try letting the fake system plugin deal with xml generation. The memory issue should be solved...
I am sure Aldo has already considered this idea & more so we'll see but I am optimistic that your current problem will be solved in the future....

Yep thats very helpful thank you:)
i need it because its the only method that allows me the fully disable the CFW and clear history,
.Any other method will cause my games to start misbehaving.

Like I said before it's normal. Disabling syscalls = disabling CFW!
You should not use partial disabling, it's for testing only.
You should disable fully or not disable at all!
Why do you want to disable syscalls anyway?

Games don't misbehave with syscalls disabled, they do not require syscalls. Am not sure what you mean...

Joonie just reminded me you may be using JB games in which case of triggering psnpatch will disable the Cobra functions enabling JB support.. Hence some problems.
A small modification to the Cobra code would fix your problem but you would need to learn to make it yourself & recompile stage2.bin.
In any case, you should be using iso games not JB.

KW described how to use psnpatch in the release notes & you should follow his instructions, use iso games.
If you must connect to PSN, mount your game first, then trigger psnpatch to disable syscalls & delete history, then connect to PSN & launch the game.
It is that simple, everything else is overthinking it..

Don't get confused by all the Noob modders advising all sorts of tricks not to get banned. Those tricks don't work and/or make things worse. As long as you do not mod/cheat online, use iso games & psnpatch properly, you won't get banned.

partial disabling, it's for testing only so ignore this one

i disable syscalls so i can go online with less risk of getting banned :)

"Games don't misbehave with syscalls disabled, they do not require syscalls." True,. And yes i already talked to joonie about it and he told me to convert my games to iso, But time i dont have,

what i mean by games misbehave is, if i use SEN or PSN patch to disable syscalls or clear history, any game i put wont work property, for example GT6 will load to main menu but it wont load any tracks, it will just keep loading,.

Clearing history and disabling syscalls using webman is the only way that lets games work as normal for me,
I will try yo convert a game to iso and see,. (if i have time!)

Convert on ps3 or on PC. It does not take that long.
Rudi Rastelli's PS3 ISO Tools works very well on PC. You can download it from our Resources section.
Once you use isos, all your issues will be gone, it's worth the time spent on conversion.

Yes true,. But i have alot other things i do (work, other work, and another work, football, life.... etc) so what ever tome i get i just prefer to just relax,
any way i will give it a go at somr thanks:)

@aldostools or @bguerville I think I am just misinterpreting it but does this mean they all have the new FTP server or did we regress back to the old one with all editions? And if they are all using the new one is it based off OpenFTP 4.0b now? Regardless I will update as if you guys see it as the best solution then that's what I will use.

All wMM editions now use the same server...
Only wMM Full Edition supports NTFS.
Ftp server code has changed a lot but I don't think Aldo included the openftp 4.0b changes. I could be wrong.

Anyway, note that I have found no performance improvement in openftp 4.0b so far. I believe Joonie noticed none either.

atm I don't have plans to include the code of openps3ftp 4.0b.

The change mentioned in the changelog only affects the full edition, which I had to revert to the original FTP server of webMAN "vanilla" when I added support for NTFS in 1.45.11. Now it's using again the code of the FTP server used in wMM 1.45.10 + NTFS.

Only full edition supports NTFS.

I noticed some small differences in OpenFTP 4.0b but it wasn't faster just the bandwidth was more stable. Then again never had anything I would call an issue with webMAN. Thank you for the info guys it's truly appreciated.

Would there be any possibility of being able to put the bigger letters and the cover letters for people with problems in the view? Is that my brother has them like 2 of his friends and I have asked if it may be possible to add some option for people like them who do not see well to be able to enlarge the titles and chapters in the webman column, is that they use screens that do not They are very big and over with their sight problems they do not see them well.

Would be something very good for people with problems in the eyes that can not see well, the power to make the titles and larger titles with some option apart
