PS3 webMAN MOD 1.43.04 - An update by Aldostools & Matsumot0

New improvements and additions makes its way to the popular PS3 plugin we all known as webMAN MOD. The release of v1.43.04 was another update provided by both aldostools and also Matsumot0. and in this recent build there has been an added restart method (VSH Method) that puts the console into Standby but you must have Remote Play Enabled to use the feature. [break]ss[/break] Full details about this update can be seen below in the official changelog and also view the quote in the spoiler of Aldostools additional details about this update when he released a test build prior to the official release.

webMAN MOD 1.43.04
  • Code refactoring main.c has been split into 32 separate modules, grouped by category
  • Added the shutdown.ps3 option to webMAN.xml & webMAN_ES.xml
  • Combo L3+R1+O to restart using VSH method and added L3+R1+X to shutdown using VSH method
  • Updated Russian lang file again
  • Updated German lang file
  • Updated webMAN_XX.xml files
  • New icons has better definitions + some new

Your ps3 IP/shutdown.ps3 uses the syscall power off (like before).
Your ps3 IP/shutdown.ps3?vsh now uses the VSH method (performs a standby). Any parameter can be used (e.g. /shutdown.ps3?standby)

Your ps3 IP/restart.ps3 now uses VSH restart (instead of lpar restart).

Your ps3 IP/reboot.ps3?vsh does the same as restart.ps3
Your ps3 IP/reboot.ps3?quick performs lpar restart
Your ps3 IP/reboot.ps3?soft performs soft restart via syscall
Your ps3 IP/reboot.ps3 performs hard reboot via syscall

Notice: There is an important difference between VSH shutdown and syscall power off.

The syscall turns off the console completely. The VSH leaves the console in standby if Settings > Remote Play Settings > Remote Start is turned On.

If the option is Off, the console turns off completly.

I left the combos L3+R2+O (restart) and L3+R2+X (power off) using the current syscalls as before.

I changed the combo L3+R1+O to restart using VSH method and added L3+R1+X to shutdown using VSH method.

/shutdown.ps3 uses the syscall power off (like before).

The syscall turns off the console completely. The VSH leaves the console in standby if Settings > Remote Play Settings > Remote Start (PS3) is turned On.
If the option is Off, the console turns off completly.

I also changed the restart method for togglers (cobra, rebug, ps2emu, etc.). Now they use VSH restart, instead of lpar restart.

BTW the main.c now is quite smaller (less than 3000 lines, vs. more than 15000 lines in earlier versions).
This is due the file has been split into 32 modules found in the "include" folder ;)
I hope that this change can make the code easier to maintain and analyze.

Yet another amazing update!! What can't this plugin do? You know I wanted to see alot of plugins for the PS3 but why have a bunch when one can do so much? I really hope the standby mode is kinda like PS4 in terms I can charge my pads while the system is off. I usually leave my poor PS3 running while I sleep to keep my 6 pads fully charged. A lot are old and don't hold a charge well and my girlfriend can't seem to get the hint of turning off the controller during her 10 hour TV marathons on her day off.

Standby mode. What's the difference between that and complete shut off? Faster bootup time?

The difference is that in Standby mode you can turn on the console remotely using a PSP, PSP Vita, Remote Play for PC.

While the console is Standby you will still hear the fans (if the console was turned off while the fans were running loud) and they are not turned off (even if the console is already cool).

Shutting down you can't turn on the console using Remote Play and the fans are shut off even if they were running loud when you shutdown the console.

Thanks for the in depth elaboration. I now know this feature ain't for me ;)

The new "VSH shutdown" method is exactly the same as turning off with the :PS Button: button.

The Standby mode when the console is turned off with 'Start with Remote Play enabled' is a feature that has been in the OFW since 2.x (or 3.x).

I only wanted to stress the difference between the original shutdown method in webMAN and the VSH shutdown.

Amazing master [MENTION=89]aldostools[/MENTION], works very well.
By not activating (on) remote play, can be made in standby mode the fan always running?
So we can make the PS3 more quickly cool when the engine is turned off.
Sorry for my bad english.
Thank you for your hard work.

If you enabled Remote Start the console will keep the fans running a the current speed when you power off via VSH.
If the option is disabled, the console will shutdown completely when you power off via VSH.

BTW you can also turn on the PS3 (that is in Standby mode) using any Wake-On-Lan tool like:
http://aldostools.org/temp/test/wol.exe

Do you not have to have to have automatic connection to psn activated to be able to enable remote start

I don't know if is WebMAN or CFW (Rebug 4.75.3) but when WebMAN is enabled in Rebug Toolbox, custom PS3 Themes loads at boot but they crashes after the "WebMAN Loaded" popup appears and i have to re-apply the theme to make it works.
If the toggle WebMAN is disabled in Toolbox all works fine.
Just for info..maybe you can investigate :)
Sorry for my english

I saw the report some time ago, but I could not confirm the issue, i have two custom theme installed on my system and it loaded fine on everyboot I tried, it would be the best if you could upload all the custom themes you have tried that causing issues

Hi Joonie, thanks for reply.
The only one i tested for now
https://mega.nz/#!VBsjUShJ!zY2yb20_uF6lL3DvHyoSLfgFjjRW509NZtJRmg1lD-g
I will try other themes.

OK, I was able to reproduce the bug in this condition.

REBUG 4.75.3 / DEBUG VSH / COBRA+webMAN [REBUG edtion] Enabled / CEX MODE

and that Heavy Rain theme you tried has an issue with background image gets disabled [not entire theme]

However, other themes I have seem working fine.

And also there were several variables that also fix the issue

1. retail VSH doesn't make this issue
2. webman's "Disable content scan on startup" <- this option also fix the issue.

from my test result, this is somehow related to memory management. Try those two couple fixes I found.

Thanks Joonie.
What do you mean with "retail VSH"? How can i change it?
I have REBUG REX 4.75.3
System Mode: REBUG
XMB Operation Mode: Debug
Debug Menu Type: CEX QA
Cobra and webMAN: Enabled

Anyway, i tried to select "Disable startup notification of webMAN on the XMB" from webMAN setup and this fixed the issue, the theme boots well!

Thanks Joonie.

You can change that to "retail" to fix the issue as well without having webman option changed.

Ok I got it right then.
Unfortunately, i switched XMB O.M. from Debug to Retail but it didn't fix the issue.
Anyway, i don't need the notification of webMAN at startup.
Thanks Joonie for your help and for everything you do for us!
Also thanks aldostools and Matsumot0 ;) webMAN MOD is great!
