webMAN MOD

PS3 webMAN MOD - General Information Thread 1.47.48q

I tested again the feature and it launched the .gba stored in /dev_hdd0/ROMS/GBA

When the game is selected, it is mounted in /app_home and /dev_bdvd.
Check if the game launches through the bdvd disc icon or if the text in app_home is updated with the title of the game.

To investigate what is happening you could try mounting your ROM using the browser from the PC,
You can check what is mounted in /dev_bdvd and in /app_home/USRDIR

Games are launched via app_home, and app_home is also updated with titles from roms.
I also saw the new disc icon (dev_bdvd), but when I launched it via dev_bdvd the result was the same.
I also tried running roms via retroarch, and the results worked.

but I am still confused if running via Retroarch alone can why run with Webman can't.
Is there a problem with libretro core?
because on dev_hdd0 / game / PKGLAUNCH / PS3_GAME / USRDIR / cores, I don't see any core files (.SELF)

From the video it's looks like your settings are correct.

Try updating webMAN MOD using the built-in updater. Then reboot and launch the ROM again.
It will update webMAN MOD and PKGLAUNCH to the latest build.

If the problem persists, it could be the version RetroArch. You could try installing this one.
https://github.com/crystalct/RetroA...x-Place_Community_Edition_beta03-20210104.pkg

PKGLAUNCH reads a file in its directory containing the path of the ROM mounted.
Then based on the path or extension it selects the core and executes it with the ROM as parameter.
If it cannot detect the core, it returns to XMB.

problem is finished, thanks for the help.
it turns out that the main problem is with the retroarch that I use, and now it's correct.

One more question.
Can I add a CEX / DEX toggle swap on HEN? To debug settings. I already have CEX and DEX sysconf.sprx it's just that i don't know to use both. Which I know alternate using if I want to debug CEX settings then I have to overwrite the sysconf.sprx file with the CEX version and vice versa.

Considering that webman has a combo button swap CEX / DEX. is it applicable in HEN?

HEN is not CFW and it may have issues when you change system files in /dev_flash
I haven't tried to swap the sysconf.sprx since I don't use HEN. But if it works, you can use /swap.ps3 to exchange the fiiles.

A safer way to do this is using /remap.ps3 that only redirect the file in memory. So when HEN is disabled the original file is untouched.

i have tried this long ago and IIRC, the menu can be shown but most or all options do not work. i think if it was possible to just enable Fake Save Data Owner on hen, somebody would have posted it here by now.

i have seen a video showing a modded hen with a toggler button combo to swap the menus. i assume it must have been using a modded webman to do that (it looked like one was installed). the video did not show any options working, just that the menu changed.

but again, it has been a long time since i messed with it so maybe i am mistaken.

finally I found an alternative way to change the debug settings menu. without having to change webman.
by adding a special menu in the hybrid firmware tools, then manually installing sysconf.sprx.

So far I've only tried the change behavior button, because that's what I need :)
thank you for helping me.

can you try some other settings and see if they work?

can you try some other settings and see if they work?

CEX settings
- fake free space [work]
- fake limit size [work]
- delete trophy personal data [work]
- debug for HDD exchange utility [work]
For CEX the menu seems like everything is working normally, it's just that I don't know for sure what it works for in some menus

DEX settings:
- button behavior [work]
- region setting [not work]
- fake save data owner [not work]
I think only the menu button behavior can be used on HEN, otherwise it will cause your ps3 to freeze.

You should have full access to the qa flag debug settings while hen is enabled, use the normal cex sprx. Those should all work like normal, just do the button combo after enabling HEN.

ok thanks! i wasn't sure because has been so long but i didn't think they would all work.

@aldostools I notice that PS1 games are much smaller when in zips, I noticed this when testing some demo discs recently. Many are over 200% the size when extracted. So I wonder could wMM support these in zips, and just extract them to a temporary location when they are mounted? This could save users with large PS1 collections on their PS3s a lot of HDD space in theory. It might be practical enough to do with PS1 games as they are small enough that unzipping would not take too much time compared to PS2/PS3/PSP.

I don't know if this is something you would consider, but just throwing ideas out there. :)

I will try when I get some time... I need to configure a few things in various components to make this work.

webMAN MOD 1.47.35
  • Added Help option to webMAN Setup menu
  • Many fixes and stability improvements
  • Cumulative update (includes over 80 commits to the suite of tools)

@aldostools have you considered having an option in wMM Setup to promote the folder for each game type up to root of the game category so they appear like albums instead of being inside the webman games subfolder? This could be a nice option IMO.

Also it could have the option to promote all games icons up to root for when the disable grouping of content box is ticked. This will make them have icons at the top level just like PSN games, might be a nice option for some?

As far as I can see it would be very easy to implement as it would just require writing the mygames.xml data to the fb.xml instead, with a different view ID.

Can you explain what is the usage of apphome please?

It is used for mounting games and other apps, webMAN MOD uses it for ROM launcher and reloading the XMB etc.

PIC1 is supported by the system, its not something that backup managers handle, make sure you have the file name and extension in all caps (PIC1.PNG), lower case has no support.

I mean webman mod last update has ability to show ps3 ,ps2,ps1,psp iso title in top of game category instead of Webman games folder , so i refresh xml using webman command so my game appear in top of game category like PSN style when i scroll to any ps3 iso title the PIC1.PNG didnt appear (background) and still have xmb wave and not load PIC1.PNG on xmb
