PS3 webMAN-MOD users: donations needed!

Well like I said, in all fairness, with everything Aldo had provided through the years, the least wMM users can do is pick up the tab if they wish Aldo to continue maintaining & updating wMM. Thousands upon thousands of wMM users & we are only looking for 100 bucks ffs.

65 bucks is about the right price I think but it varies between 50 & 100+ depending on model & accessories.

indeed. as I mentioned in that other thread, I'm on disability, and even I was able to donate. even $5 is okay.

(since I am a honest guy, I am also a disabled person by now with a grade of 70%)

you are right, I think 5€ will be fine on my end

you might be charged a little extra, but it's no big deal. I got charged one more dollar when I donated to Evilnat, since he's in Spain, and I'm in the U.S. ;)

Maybe because Aldo is a common name in Italy. :-p

No. I don't have a spare PSU to test. The console died suddenly this morning and I would have to import these pieces if I would like to test. I could end spending more money trying to fix the console, than get another one.
bad luck , i get hand on ps3 many times for 50TND to 120TND (18$-43$) in Tunisia but the problem is i can't sent them nor i can send money as we don't have internation credit card, paypal is prohibited here, they only allow us to recieve with western union otherwise i would send one of my consoles to you or send you money

Thanks to @mrjaredbeta, @blckbear_, @jcorrea, @pinky and Mr.Jochen Spier for the donations.

At the moment we have raised US$57.94 counting the 2 donations from @jcorrea..

It would be awesome if someone knows of a PS3 slim 2501A in good condition, in a site that accepts PayPal payments and ship to Miami, FL.
It can be with or without HDD. Also I don't need the controllers, if the price is good.

Just sent you a few bucks, I'm not a webman mod user but I think it's one of the most important homebrews in the PS3 scene and not one that should disappear. Let's hope you can find a replacement console and keep working on the projects!

Thank you pal! I appreciate it. I will need help finding a good option maybe on eBay. The options at Amazon are too expensive.

Today I turned on the console to test some changes to webMAN MOD.
The console was idle on XMB and suddenly it turned off. I noticed it a few minutes later.
The power light was completely off. I pressed the power button, it changed to red.
I pressed it again, it turned green but a second later the green light turns off completely then the power button also turns off. The fans sound like try to start, but the console shutdowns too soon. I repeated this procedure like 10 times with the same result even unplugging the power cord.

The eject button beeps even with the power light off.

Is there something that I can do to revive this console? If not, consider it the end of webMAN MOD / IRISMAN projects.

The console is a slim CECH-2501A

I did a fan test unplugging the console and connecting back with power+eject buttons pressed, and the fans worked fine. So it seems to be some hardware issue. :(
Yeah, I had a 3001A with bad bluetooth/wifi with the exact same symptoms. When the it detects something is wrong, the system turns completely off.

BT/wifi appears to be one of the most common sources of hardware failures on slims.
It is apparently quite easy to fix if you can solder & have appropriate equipment.
It's always a shame to bin a console only because a cheap component is fried..

Sorry @aldostools i cannot give anything from India. Here, international transactions require authorization terms from bank which i don't have. Unfortunate to see that a good developer like you have funding issues.

isn't it a HDD issue ? dit you try to boot on recovery without the HDD ?
I always though : if you see the green light then your ps3 is 'easy' to fix, like reset factory, reinstall firmware, hdd (low level?) format or simply change the hdd... something simple (or maybe something less simple but still it's to replace the power supply (or fix it).

There are lot of hardware expert here, someone can confirm if it's really completly broken? @sandungas @littlebalup @Naked_Snake1995 @RIP-Felix You guys can fix an YLOD maybe you can fix 'simple' GLOD ? ;)

I have many ps3 here in Maryland aldo. I can ship one to Florida no problem. Most are cech h , or cech L though. I do have one slim 2000 series, but the drive stopped reading games at some point the last time I tried using it. Dunno if drive is swappable from a 25k to a 2k? Let me know how I can help, otherwise I'll pitch in a few dollars to help.

Thank you @Ronnie Sahlberg and @bguerville for your donations.

@nCadeRegal Thank you for your offer. At the moment we have raised 80.60 USD. I mainly need one console to test IRISMAN / webMAN MOD. I would prefer a slim 25K that fully work with support for CFW. That money could help to repair the 2K or maybe someone could help me find one for 80 bucks, including shipping. If the CECH H / L are in good shape could do job too.

I think you should wait a few more days before deciding anything. Someone might still propose to send you a 2xxx & you will get more PP donations anyway I am sure of it.

Thank you for the tip. I already tried booting it without the HDD (and without HDMI or network cable), but the green light turns off 1 second after power on. The fans sound like try to start, but stop immediately. One second later the power button (white) turns off too. If I press the power button again, the led changes to red. The eject button beeps if I press it. If I unplug the console and power on with the eject button pressed, the fan test works fine for about 10 seconds; then the console turns completely off after the blink of the blue led.

I think around $100 should be good. cfw systems, at least from what I've seen, are often less expensive than the newer systems, possibly because newer systems are more reliable? I know that the superslim I bought, I can't even hear the fan, it's so quiet. the slim I bought was set at $100, but I offered the guy $90, and he took it. I think it was his backup ps3, so that may be why he let it go for less. however, as I mentioned, it only had a 50GB hdd. I'm not sure how much the hdd factors into the overall price, but a 1TB hdd is around the $40-60 mark by itself. if you can't get enough money, I might be able to donate a little more, but you'll have to wait until the 28th, when I get another $41. no more heroes 3 comes out ironically on the 27th, and I have it preordered through the eshop, so it will be paid for and downloaded on the 20th:

Yea no problem man. Just let me know, I also think it's best to wait a few days and see what people can chip in for you man. This is the time where the community needs to show some respect for the time you have invested into it. Either way both my offers still stand.
As far as I know, the cech L has a ver-001 board in it, and possibly the h model does also. It's the same board from the first Gen slims like the 2k. It was one of the last phat models made. We should also keep bumping this thread to keep it in the limelight as much as possible.
Also have you tried posting on gbatemp? I believe they have a decent sized ps3 section there also. You could try wololo to but can't say much for there and how many people frequent it.
