Where to ask about PS3Xploit

Gonna try to wipe harddrive and restore the OS that was already on the system...see if I can get wifi to work.

You can patch your CFW so it will install on consoles with mssing BD drives or BT modules. See this thread for more info http://www.psx-place.com/threads/rebug-4-81-2-rex_nobt.12751/ If you are on 4.82 after doing the exploit, you will need 4.82 patched, as lower will not install, until you are QA flagged.
 
It was 4.x . I can't get it to even boot into safe mode with a harddrive installed...So not having much luck.
I can unplug the harddrive and get "Cannot Start. The appropriate system storage was not found.

But that is about it.
 
Try to format the HDD using a PC (or try a spare HDD if you have) the file format doesn't matter since the ps3 will force format afterwards.

Hah yup that is what I have been doing. I threw in a new Bluetooth board (I think) and finally got it to go into safe mode and I forced a system update from usb.

I'm at 36% of the upgrade.

Upgrade completed. Bluetooth and wifi now work.
I want to put a 650gb drive in though...so I am going to try that. This is the loudest ps3 I have ever heard.


My other fats were near silent

Update: threw the 650gb and it formatted it no problems. Now to exploit it.

Ok patched...rebooted..

trying to install Rebug CFW and I get 8002F169 the data is corrupt.
Tried downloading a couple times and no luck.

Try with another cfw. If it still not work make a dump and check if it's properly patched. If not patched properly reinstall ofw twice and retry exploit

Thank you. I did Ferrox 4.82...did the QA tool and am now 38% through putting the latest Rebug on.

Thank you to everyone who helped me with this. I think I still have to do some paste replacement and maybe a fan replacement, but I think I am in business. Appreciate everyone who responded and took the time to help me. I will pass it along and help others.
 
not sure. that's a pretty large gap. temps can very quite a bit from system to system, so yours may run hotter. however, that' doesn't seem right. the danger zone is probably around 200 degrees F., so maybe try webman's dynamic fan control option to see if it runs cooler.
 
Went to replace thermal paste and one of the clamp screws is stripped.

Gonna hit the hardware store and see if they have those vampire Pilar's or a drill bit to take it out
