Nice, you removed it without lifting any pads. If the module was in short which is more common, I recommend you to replace that 5V regulator by a 1117 1.8v. Then you will be asure that you're getting those 1.8v prior the installation. I mainly remove the regulator because most of the time it's damaged and doesn't deliver the correct voltage, generally more than 1.8v and sometimes 5v directly, something that will kill the donor. You need to put it at the end, on youtube you have plenty of examples.

Clean everything with a solder wick and you're ready to put 0.5 mm bgas, before bgas apply a very thing layer of flux. At 400ºC, low airflow and 15cm distance, go warming the pcb and bgas, slowly reduce distance every 20 seconds, until you see bgas melt. Then you're ready to solder the module on the pcb, apply flux, heat from below and above. and that's all. Module has to be flat to the mobo.

Do you happen to know if the slim and super slim wifi modules are interchangeable?
 
I had i PS3 SLIM CECH 2504B , the bluetooth and wifi didn't work at all so I replaved the wifi/bt card SP88W8781. After the replacement it worked for 30 minutes but then it stoped working. If you reboot the PS3 the card worked for 1-2 minutes and then it stopeed again. After testing I show that in the begging the blue test points I show in the photo where 2.2V but after a 1-2 minutes it went to 1.4V and thas is why the card stoped woriking. The problem is with the regulator I have circled with pink color. After replacing the card worked with no problems.

Guys, I have a super slim model that was in this infinite loop situation with error 8002f1f9 because my stupid cat pulled the plug while I was installing HFW.

Every guide on youtube showed people opening their consoles, which made me very disheartened to say the least, until I tried something: I've removed the HDD and went into safe boot (hold Power until it beeps twice), then I immediately inserted the HDD again and it worked!

Update, nevermind. I got too excited that could enter in recovery mode that I posted before checking if it would install the firmware after that, it stuck on 25% anyways.

hi people, first of all, thanks in advance for taking the time for reading my post. Yesterday i decided to turn on my main CFW PS3 Slim 2501B, JSD-001 MB, been like 2 years of not using it, always disconnected from AC, controllers didn´t turn on the system, so i pressed the power button, boots fine like always, everything works but controllers not syncronizing, only working via USB, scanned for WiFi on network settings only to give "The access point was not detected", if trying to scan wifi again, gives error 80130128, doing some research here and on google, everything points to a faulty BT/Wifi board, but i´ve seen a video and comments it could be only the tiny 6pin regulator that outputs 2.3v on slims/1.8v on super slims, and replacing it with either an original/identical or an AMS1117 1.8v solves the problem. i will test for shorts, AND IF THE BT/WiFi MODULE is ok, i´m planning on using an AMS1117, i have a spare JSD-001 MB, from where i can take the tiny 6pin regulator, but i´ve read that its better to replace it with an AMS1117, since these are of better quality and even originals tend to fail overtime. Anyway, here´s a poorly made diagram of what i´m thinking to do, hope you can understand it. Si hablan español, mejor, asi me doy a entender un poco mejor.

As in subject ive been dealing with 8002f1f9 error on my cech-2504b (mb jsd-001), when tried to replace voltage regulator for wifi/bt module ive blow away those two campacitors (?) marked on picture- please for information about parameter of those two parts:

because every thread talks about this ams 1117 1.8v and i don't know where to get the original chip, also the working space is really very small so unsoldering it is easy but re-soldering it is complicated
also it seems that this chip burns very easily so it is better to put something else
 
I see a lot of content about replacing the wifi module, but I didn't find anything about possibilities of repairing it, is it something very difficult?

I did today. I have 4 PS3's with shorted wifi modules. I de-lidded the first one and swapped the Marvell 88W8781-NXU2 with a known working one. Then I replaced the 6 pin regulator with a donor. Everything works perfect now. I was able to finally get past the 8002F1F9 error!
 
Hello guys! Does anyone know where is that circle with regulator on DYN-001 board? I'll appreciate any info. Thanks in advance.
Also I have a slim 2504B (JTP-001) with failed 1.8v regulator. I've checked already the BT module itself for shorts using a multimeter and there is no shorts on it. Until the regulator both 3.3V & 5V are present. Ordered AMS 1117 to substitute the failed one. I'll leave a report after the job is done.
 
Hi. Im having this problem. I think it will be enough to solve the problem to do a reballing, but i have never done so and have no practice. Isnt there any guide explaining step by step how to do so and also describing the problem itself?
