PS3 XMBPD (v0.31) + webMAN LaunchPAD (v0.11) Installer by DeViL303

Developer DeViL303 is back with an update to XMBPD, the homebrew store that is integrated directly into the XMB (not to be confused with a web shortcut (homebrew store) like what is found in the latest FERROX 4.80 CFW). In version 0.31 there was some minor changes to XMB Package Downloader itself, but the installer seen a big change as it now includes the ability to install another project by DeViL303; webMAN Launchpad that was released several months ago by the developer who has brought us many great XMB modifications over the years..

While developer @DeViL303 has recently stated here in the forums, that he has no plans to further the project (webMAN LaunchPad) in terms of feature wise as he hopes other developers can progress his original POC farther. Which we may of seen as psx-place user @Badboy has re-sparked conversation on this project and shared some webMAN MOD modifications that developer @aldostools has studied and made some implemented of his own into a test build of the plugin and if test go I would assume we see these features added n the next official update of webMAN MOD, but until then checkout the test build here in this post:

  • XMB Package Download (XMBPD)

    Features of XMBPD:

    • Ability to download over 70 80 packages from the XMB just by selecting them, with no USB stick required.
    • Packages divided up into categories
    • Package list will update automatically or can be refreshed manually using the new function.
    • Removes the annoying Spotify and Singstar links from main XMB (packages still available to download through XMBPD)
    • This application installs to flash so it is there after a system format/restore..
    • XMBPD can be updated from within itself via the Tools/Mods/Misc section.
    • New icon set for all the categories, All the icons are added to the relevant RCO files for fastest response and smallest filesize while keeping quality.
    • Compatible with Multiman singstar unlike early releases.

  • webMAN Launchpad
This is a XMB Mod called WebMAN Launchpad, and it allows for 12 of your favorite WebMAN games, and 6 WebMAN functions to be easily accessed from the XMB with large Shortcut icons. This has a few advantages (and some disadvantages) over normal webman XMB GUI, as you can set age limits on which games/items show up.[/I][/CENTER]

  • XMBPD v0.31

I've released a small update, The changes to XMBPD are only small:
    • Removed a few unwanted files from the themes downloader.
    • Tidied up the titles in the themes downloader by removing the file extension.
The main difference is the installer now includes WebMAN Launchpad, The reason for this is that these 2 apps would otherwise be incompatible with each other as they both replace the same files and need the hash's doing differently if they are both installed or if just either one is installed. So Im going to group these 2 apps together from now on. Anyone who has this already installed can install XMBPD v0.31 over v0.30. or install XMBPD v0.31 and WebMAN Launchpad.

Either version can of course be used to revert to Rebug 4.80 standard XMB.

  • Install Launchpad v0.11 on Rebug 4.80 ONLY

NOTE: make sure Cobra and CFW Settings are enabled via Rebug Toolbox while installing OR uninstalling this. You can disable them after using the installer if you wish. And once again, this is firmware specific and made for Rebug 4.80 ONLY.

    Launchpad v0.11 changes:
    • Made for Rebug 4.80 ONLY
    • The xml that holds the paths to the games is now located at dev_hdd0/tmp/wm_launchpad.xml
    • This installer now has the option to install XMBPD aswell, reason being this is the only way to get them both installed as they will clash if you try to use the individual installers.
    • Im hosting 8000 covers now, So Ive added most of the path for the covers to the xml, so all people need to do now is enter the title IDs of their games and the covers should just work.
    • Added new icon (Thanks @0_obeWAN)
    • Shortened xml entries as much as possible.
    • Added support for all PSN countries.

In theory it may be possible to implement such a hack like this:

When the download command is called, wMM would temporarily patch the sprx to make it point to a dynamically created xml file hosted by wMM.
XMB would get refreshed. The sprx reloaded if need be.
Then the code would launch the newly created xmb entry....

However I don't know whether it's so easily feasible in practice...

Using function 23 or finding the download plugin callback function would be so much cleaner/easier.

Can i install PS3_Extras style as default, if i boot up my Phatty ?
Im going to reply to you here as we are kind of derailing that thread even more than it has been already.

Yes, you can have that style alongside the normal style, not as default exactly, but it will be there above normal Webman on your XMB. There is a little bit of setup involved to get Launchpad going. You need the latest FULL version of WebMAN MOD installed as it is what generates the correct xml for Launchpad.

Everything is fine, got the latest webman mod 1.43.33, already installed it 2 days ago, so i have to mark in webman setting something with the xml refresh?
Installed Launchpad->reboot-->refresh xml-List->everything ok
Installed XMBPD->reboot->Launchpad passed away ?

Ok, then yeah, after you've used the XMBPD+Launchpad installer to install Launchpad or both, (Make sure Cobra and CFW settings are enabled via Rebug Toolbox while installing them). Then do a Games refresh in WM and you should get your games appear in the Launchpad, the covers need to download so you need internet access for it to work properly.

Yes, that's normal. you will need to use the option for both launchpad and XMBPD in the installer, as they modify the same xmls.

Kay..so delete Launchpad and XMBPD before, then install both or could install both over my 2 seperate installations?

In general it would be best practice to revert to standard XMB first and then install them both but in this case it will be ok to just install the 2 of them over whatever is installed.

Remember if you do revert to standard XMB at anytime using the installer you will need to do the "No singstar" mod again.

Ok, will think of it (no Singstar) ;)
So..last thing..i have to "check" the launchpad option in webman setup?

I actually cant remember right now if its a checkbox for enabling it or disabling it. Havnt got access to my PS3 right now. If your games are showing up under the Launchpad icon then it has scanned them and is working, if not try it the other way. You need to reboot or at least reload the XMB in between changes for them to show up on the XMB.

Unfortunately not. Sorry.

Well it is but I dont know how. If someone who knows how could make a script that could extract the preview.png from all the themes and rename them to the theme name.png, then I could in theory add them as icons, and you would be able to see something at least. But extracting each png manually and renaming it is not something I want to do with 1000 files (or something like that).

I have no idea why but it doesn't work for me. I downloaded apk twice and every time I run it it leaves me with black screen.
Running newest Rebug 4.80 ofc, newest Webman .

Can having No Singstar Icon and psnpatch plugin installed be a problem here?

You mean the installer wont boot at all? I don't know what could cause that tbh. If you've switched TVs or something you could try turn on your console and hold the power button until it beeps a second time, this will reset the video, there is a small chance this could help.

Having no singstar icon and PSN patch plugin installed shouldn't stop the installer from running correctly.
