Yakuza 0 Ps3 English Patch

finished the first chapter and so far it works as described. while it's perfectly playable this way, not having the various cutscenes translated is criminal in this game as a huge chunk of the story (which is arguably the best aspect of the entire series) remains a mistery on ps3 for non japanese speaking players. i'm sure something can be done with the pc fmv files (maybe reencoding them and replacing the files on the "disc" instead of working on the installed data)
i'll be following further development with great interest (despite having played the game multiple times on both ps4 and pc lol), as well as potentially a kiwami translation too! thanks for your work man!

I thought there was a PS4 version that's been translated to English, and also for the menu strings, look for them in EBOOT.BIN (Make sure to decrypt it so you would see ELF file prior to modify) I do remember hex-editing menu strings on the PC exe.

yeah it's in english in ps4, xbo and pc, ps3 is exclusive to japan and is also the base version for all the ports
 
This sounds great, i look forward to play the game again on ps3 if the cutscenes ever get translated

I guess the best way to do this would be to try to extract the audio track from the PS4 videos to replace the PS3 videos with it... but without doing any conversion to the PS3 video track

The reason why im suggesting to dont do any conversion to the video track is because this way is posible to create some xdelta patches that are going to be tiny (smaller than 1MB)

In other words...the goal would be to create xdelta patches (one for every video) cotaining only data related with the audio (not video data)
 
my friend has gotten into the Yakuza series with the like a dragon rpg. I haven't played them, but I think you can play between 4-6 or so of them on an exploited ps4. not sure how many were on the ps3.

the only game in the series that got an english dub was the first one on ps2, and that would be the last time until judgment released in 2018 on ps4. the audio track on pc/ps4/xbo is ALSO on english, just swapping them wouldn't do anything extra than waste time. the entire fmv file needs to be replaced with hardcoded sub versions. (idk if the english versions are hardcoded or not)

in release order ps3 got ryu ga gotoku kenzan! (japan only). yakuza 3, yakuza 4, yakuza dead souls (a zombie spinoff), yakuza 5, ryu ga gotoku ishin (japan only, translation undergoing!), ryu ga gotoku zero (this one, japan only on ps3) and ryu ga gotoku kiwami (a remake of the first ps2 game using zero's engine, also japan exclusive on ps3). there also was 1&2 HD which were upscaled ports of 1 and 2 on ps2, exclusive to japan, and also on wii u

I think kiwami is playable on an exploitable ps4 or that it was rereleased. the only games I don't think can be played on ps4 is the collection and like a dragon (both too new).

the entire series except most of the spinoffs are available on ps4, i don't know about firmware requirements
 
I"m pretty sure kiwami is playable. there may be a kiwami 2 iirc as well. about three-fourths or so are playable I believe.
 
Glad to see that the PS3 ports of 0 and Kiwami 1 getting an english translation patch since i have them myself on my PS3 (even tho i own them on PS4 aswell :P)
