PS3 4.70 HABIB (Standard CEX) CFW

Custom Firmware developer HABIB has released HABIB 4.70 (CEX), this is a Standard CEX-based CFW, the developer did not provide many release notes on this release. Releasing the CFW on YouTube with a short description. Which may not be the best way to release a CFW in my personal opinion (as there is sure to be questions). but nonetheless he is a talented CFW developer and we are sure the firmware is top notch [break]ss[/break].. We will do our best to fill in the gaps left with the release notes. So beware we may miss a few things and some things could be incorrect..

Some General Tips about CFW installations from psx-place.com
( Credits to Aldostools / kozarovv for some of these suggestions below )

RED = Extremely Important
GREEN = Recommended but not required

	Remove any Physical Game Disc from the PlayStation 3 Disc Drive (Otherwise the PUP (OFW) from the PS3 Disc will be installed and you will lose your jailbreak.
	Unmount actual game.This really important for example, cobra systems with webMAN, because webMAN mounts last played game on boot. If an Update folder exist in that game. It will install the official firmware
	ALWAYS verify the PUP's MD5 to be sure the file is not corrupted and in it's original state (There are some fakes out there that are OFW, so never trust a title and get the MD5 from trust sources like PSX-Place.com
	DISABLE any CFW Spoofs, before update
	[*=left]Turn off internet connections when updating CFW's.( Wifi and Ethernet cable.)
	If you do not own a HARDWARE FLASHER or have the means to recover from a possible brick. DO NOT RUSH to install a CFW / MFW Release. Allow the community to conduct test as some CFW do not get proper testing and even ones that do some models can act differently so its best to give it at least a 3 day wait. Usually brick reports happen the first 24-48 Hours.
	It's good practice to QA Flag your console. before installing a new CFW.
	Always a good idea to dump your eid_root_key (see link for additional information)
	Can be useful to take 1 or 2 dumpsof youflashafter a successful upgrade.These dumps are useful (with a hardware flasher) when Downgrading a console from an accidental OFW update and also when recovering from a Bricked console
	Backup your Game Savesand edat/rif files to a pendrive, external HDD or FTP to PC.

DO NOT HAVE A DISC (PS3 GAME) INSIDE !!!!!!!!!!!!

or it will update to OFW.

ALL PS3 games have OFW on the disc and during the update process DISC takes PRIORITY.

Yea i had a small typo for a moment. you must of seen it before i corrected it. but yea NO DISC.. Here is more advice.


MAKE SURE THERE IS NO GAME DISC INSIDE THE CONSOLE
ALWAYS verify the PUP's MD5

- dumping of flash.

On a mobile right now so i cant give every detail, but plenty of info on the net about each one.
but will go over a bit, none of these are required just recommended IN CASE of problems down the road.

QA Flag - Allows you to jump CFW versions as one example (such as 4.70 back to 4.65) .. Its a one time thing. if you bought your console with CFW on it. most likely it is QA flag one way to check is While on the Network Settings on the XMB (Not in the menu, but on the icon) press and hold the following buttons L1+L2+R1+R2+L3+D-pad Down to unlock the Debug Settings

if it 's not, then you can enable it in Rebug toolbox and then try that combo again ( Codename: REBUG will show where at in toolbox and some additional details)

A good flash dump can help you recover from a brick or downgrade your console if updated to firmware (but would have to be used with a hardware flasher) but a clean valid dump is needed for those task.

There is 2 more thing that should be checked before update.

1. Turn off internet connection for update time. Wifi and Ethernet cable.
2. Unmount actual game. Is really important for cobra systems with webman, because webman mount last played game on boot. If Update folder exist in that game. You have nice OFW

did you also download the IRISMAN that Habib provided with this release, if so go to game setting and use the BD Emu/BD Mirror option

When you do release something, you use members of the PS3 Scene as beta testers or guinea pigs.
From what i have seen of you, its all about money and ePeen, now i am not saying you are not talented, i am however saying that you may abuse that talent, instead of nourishing it.

I may dislike the fact that [MENTION=56]Alexander[/MENTION] used the name Ferrox, but to give him all due credit, he thoroughly tested his firmware before he released it and your problem with him is perhaps he released his version before you released yours.
