I was able to reproduce the same issue while on Rogero 4.46.. it's the code's fault.
i see :(
now we also have to fix the fixed released source...

for the patch working fine on my end, maybe it is because i have applied most of sprx/self patches directly? i only patch some psp files and libfs with cobra, everything else is statically applied on all files and patches removed.

edit
but then, you have stated, that it works fine for you on your slim ps3

I don't know about that one... But the issue only happens on BC Consoles according to the reports from other users and my self. [I have two bc consoles , A01 and E01]

My slim 2001b works without any problem ..

No need to disable PSNPatch plugin to install rebug.
;)

(I have personally installed literally dozens of rebug official versions and test versions without a single issue).

I just had made that recomendation because i've pass from cfw cobra to cfw rebug, the plugin is the same?

Yes. The same plugin for all versions and modes (non-cobra, cobra and rebug).
That's what I meant with firmware "independent".

You can even install PSNPatch 's non-cobra plugin manager in rebug with cobra disabled, and then activate and deactivate cobra in rebug at will.
;)

[MENTION=2]STLcardsWS[/MENTION]:
I would like to comment for the first post: that PSNPATCH fully supports rebug 4.70.
In fact PSNPatch 4.70.x was developed with rebug in mind, to be compatible with every rebug mode switching.
;)

[MENTION=29]Joonie[/MENTION]:
I've noticed a small issue in rebug.
Not only in 4.70 but all rebugs:
I like to have my pkg files in an external HDD but distributed in multiple folders.
When I need to install a pkg file, I go into mmcm file manager and select the pkg to install.
Mmcm kicks back to PS3 XMB and all pkg from that folder will then be available (mapped) to be installed from the xmb.
In non-rebug firmware it always work.
In rebug firmwares it works only with debug menu mode activated.
Will it be possible to make it work also with "retail" menu mode ?

Thanks.

I think the issue maybe coming from category_game xml... can you try non rebug category files instead? or you could try one that was released by [MENTION=872]sandungas[/MENTION].

Thanks for the feedback. I'll look into it.

Yes., of course. I will try that.
(I thought the same about the xml , but as I don't know by detail all rebug particularities in the xml, didn't want to risk before you told me :) )

what I've noticed in the REBUG xml is the app name for webMAN is not the same in category_game.xml as it is in category_game_tool2.xml, also category_game_tool2.xml doesn't have support for XMBM+ but category_game.xml does :p

must be app_home remapping. i have removed the entry from my xml, so it will not bring that double pkg display bug.
for me it works on either xmb mode fine. i have custom install folders and if i select a pkg with mm filemanager, mm mounts all the pkgs included next to the one i have selected, to install pkg from usb root (original place). is this what you have meant? maybe webman interferes there, and i have removed the app_home -> pkg folder remapping from it as well

what I've noticed in the REBUG xml is the app name for webMAN is not the same in category_game.xml as it is in category_game_tool2.xml, also category_game_tool2.xml doesn't have support for XMBM+ but category_game.xml does :p
that results in different xmb layout if you switch xmb menus afaik. i have modified both xml equally, so i do not have any difference there. i think, you can modify them, to display different stuff on each xmb mode

well yeah I know :p I was just letting [MENTION=29]Joonie[/MENTION] know, as I have edited mine also (I put put Toolbox permanently right above PS Store and PS2 Placeholder permanently above disc icon :))

Don't suppose I could have a copy of your xml files to look at for that?
Still poking around and trying to work things out when I get time. :)

What i released is like an addition, doesnt fixes anything because doesnt replaces any official code

But remember i told you latest rebugs are using old .xml's taken from an old firmware ?... there are items that was removed by sony few firmwares ago but are still present in rebug (like home app), and other 2 items that was added by sony but doesnt exists in rebug (and this ones are directly related with pkg installations)
Try the .xml's i gave you in private (that was intended for 4.70 rebug but i think you did not used them in the final release), these xml's are fixed, fully commented, and the "key" names of the custom items has been standarized for easy understanding of what has been modifyed

I modded those files based on ofw 4.70 xml / old rebug xml, and playstation home app is not "Re-added". Maybe you were looking at old 4.66 xml I gave you

Op says it's happening on all rebug cfw revision, I don't think it has to do anything with what I added. but I'll take a look on his case and try using your xml

EDIT 1

[MENTION=872]sandungas[/MENTION]

Just tried yours, it also makes the same bug.. =_=..

EDIT 2
[MENTION=124]kokotonix[/MENTION]

Now I see what is doing when using debug vsh

map_path_user, called by process 01020200_main_RELOAD.SELF: /app_home -> /dev_usb000/PS3ITODMA
Map path: /app_home -> /dev_usb000/PS3ITODMA

It redirects pkg folder's path to app_home, but app_home is completely removed from xml due to prevent from double listing.. and [MENTION=872]sandungas[/MENTION]'s xml doesn't work at all with mm's pkg installation.
[MENTION=124]kokotonix[/MENTION]

I was able to fix the issue by readding app_home query in the xml back.. but this will possibly make that pkg double listing bug again.

http://www.mediafire.com/download/u60xmma5a91cj3g/category_game_rbg.rar

Try this xml, this should fix your issue

Code:
open_path /q?subclass=x-host/package&path=/app_home//431.pkg

i hope one day that ps2 syncing will work flawless like on 4.46. I can't get it to sync without a cable on this firmware and the previous. it's the only thing holding me back.

PS2 Sync is 90% solved now... the only broken feature is ps2 disc icon playback.

Now PS2 gets synced fine on non-bc, but it requires original classic ps2 memory card [VME].

Just done testing new method and it does not require classic_ps2 flag anymore..

Thanks [MENTION=20]habib[/MENTION] for another successful work around.

guess i'm part of the 10%.

I know, but it's sad it's SONY's new change since 4.53 that is corrupting data between savedata patch and ufs_open.. [Only with cobra]

It seems like this ufs_read function gets called twice, one for pad another one for loading save files..

patlliit5aain4ozg.jpg

By simply disabling COBRA's savedata patch that uses decrypted virtual memory card, fixes the sync issue, but only the downside is that now VME is required which maybe even better for old users who are not familiar with COBRA's PS2..

You said testing new method so I guess it is not included in 4.70.1, isnt it?
