PS3 4.78.1 REBUG REX (D-REX) + COBRA v7.20 (w/ Rebug Toolbox v2.02.09)

Team REBUG is back again with a new Custom Firmware Release to enter the 4.78 Custom Firmware Era with 4.78.1 REBUG REX (D-REX) + COBRA v7.20, and as always the firmware has equipped the latest REBUG ToolBox (installs via Install Package Files). This may mark one of the fastest REBUG REX releases to hit the scene after an official firmware while that alone may be impressive about this release, Team Rebug also has some additional features to share in this CFW release for 4.78 user's.. The first change is that XMB Manager Plus (XMBM+) is now [break]sss[/break] supported in this firmware, XMB Settings (by Mysis/Sandungas and mods by littlebalup/aldostools) have been added to the firmware and can be toggled on and off via the newly updated REBUG Toolbox (v2.02.09), plus webMAN MOD (Rebug Edition) has been updated to v1.43.25 and has been integrated into this CFW release. Then of course REX (D-REX) comes equipped with the COBRA v7.2 payload, bringing you all those features found in this chart.

Team Rebug has very well documented release notes, and they can be found at the official website, so be sure to visit rebug.me for all the details and usage surrounding this CEX-DEX hybrid that we know as REX (for CEX users) and D-REX (for DEX user's). Also be sure to view additional 4.78 Custom Firmware Releases & Homebrew in this chart from our psx-place.com forums for all the latest 4.78 related releases.

Wait for HABIB REX, he doesn't like sharing his glory with his own partner. next time take my name off and name it HABIB REX / D-REX.

Oh I forgot about this.

Make sure to donate him but not REBUG because he can't get the donation all by himself if you did that, but donate him directly

I might be imagining things, but I'm sensing some tension...
Habib seems like a great dev, although he does seem to rub people the wrong way going by past posts.
Did he forget the flowers for Valentine's day? :P

edit: Sorry, I should probably of left this one alone... no offence meant to either of you. ;)

Ouch but I for one truly appreciate all the extras in REBUG's work like webMAN from the get go, dual VSH, CFW Tools being easily enabled and disabled, DEX (as PS3xPad needs this), fake save data owner, now XMBM+ support (BTW the "more info on XMBM+ link on Rebug.me links to XMBMODMAN not XMBM+) built right in and ProDG is now fully working with Cobra enabled and so much more. Please do not think your work is un-noticed or your efforts over shadowed by ANY means. And also I find the 4.65 PSX "fix" to be more problematic TBH as games like Hell Night don't run well for me as it is a PAL only game and even patching still stutters for me with that firmware. Game runs smooth as butter on 4.78.1 REX Cobra.

No, I don't care much for myself's credit as all the works were discovered by others. I like doing stuff for the scene and learn together.

This is just my little hobby project that anyone can join with

Yes and it has come a very long way as I recall your work with 4.53 vividly as you really made that stand out, fixing what seemed like a lost cause as most had given up hope on a Rebug firmware after 4.46. But after that it was reborn and back better and stronger then ever. You have always fully credited anyone involved and it shows on the site as you have named anyone that has helped in anyway direct and indirectly. I know we as a team here appreciate all you do as I don't think there is a staff member here that isn't running Rebug and eagerly anticipating the teams next work. And I wasn't trying to say you did all that but the Team did those directly involved and those contributing from the outside. Just saying it wasn't a one man show and the REX Cobra FW's stand out more so then any firmware. As I know we are all awaiting the new REX

I take REBUG as the community project as it's a combination of a lot of work, but sometimes it annoys me that our own team member does not seem to care for the project that he belongs to, but rather to be on his own though getting all the support from his own partner.

This is the thing that has been annoying the most of all.

I can sense that as well but some love to have their ego stroked more then anything. You give it a true sense of a team bud.

I agree with atreyu187.
Your contribution has been spectacular over time. We all value your efforts & your input & we know how much we owe you.
Teamwork can be very enjoyable & gratifying but also wildly frustrating at times!

I beg your pardon to those of you who are following our team's work.

habib is currently our "lead" developer of REBUG, who has been polishing all the stuff and fixed bugs and the only specialist when it comes to "COBRA".

I'm just trying to keep it up to date with our current needs as it pleases many people.

Please give habib enough credits so that way he wouldn't have to feel that he must be "EXCLUSIVE".

Without habib there is no REBUG now.

Sorry for derailing the thread for a little drama.

I just want to say that I personally been following this scene since 3.55 and I feel as though that *all the devs that make our scene so aswesome all deserve thanks bc w/o any one of you we would not be as far as we are today. Showing support is one thing but am not sure giving in to bashing in the name of the entire community is very wise.
Respect is an important rule of this forum & I would rather have it remain this way.
Let's not derail this thread any further...

One can make their unofficial build now if they want for rebug

And to clear confusion, i asked for 7.3 exclusiveness for 3 days, in which one can test system stability even better

Hello Thanks you to all rebug team

btw the 3 days have passed... :opium2k:

Today no more "EXCLUSIVITY" or holding :dlock: Project Cobra 7.3 is public for us (include all the dev)

PS: Joonie there's no main lead developer of Rebug !!! Rebug is a work of multiple developers WE are a COMMUNITY :-)

Team Rebug Forever.

For Ps2 games you can manually update Cobra 7.2 to 7.3 in Rebug. Only a handful of files to copy to /dev_flash.
You will get all the new features that you enjoy in habib 4.78 cobra cfw.

For Ps1 games have you tried Irisman instead of wMM?

Hi, Being a newbie, please forgive me:
Does Cobra 7.3 change (improve) PS2 Compatibility? (On Non BC consoles, loading mm with COBRA enabled?)
Is the 'PS2 emulation engine' provided by SONY? (PS2 classics); Can you guys elaborate a bit on this? Thanks a lot!

EDIT: Realizing that 'improves compatibility' is a bit vague: I mean will Battlefront I & II now run without freeze as in BC-consoles?

EDIT2: Any post/guide to explain exactly which files to manually update in /dev_flash? Tnx again

No, but from what I heard one of best PS3 devs are working to improve compatibility. But keep in mind that can take long time to finish, even few months.

I don't think the objective of this release was compatibility in particular, the pressing issues were wireless sync & getting rid of launcher/placeholder. Mounting from any manager works the same.
So far cobra 7.3 is successful in achieving this.
Some improvements have probably also been made elsewhere but it is too early to tell to what extent.
As for S#ny improving ps2 compatibility... One can hope...
