No need to feel dumb, is not so obvious setting if you are not familiar with debug firmware. :)
FYI also this setting is needed to enable DLNA client (http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/connectdlna.html) because debug VSH can handle it.

And thanks for the report, is little bit uncommon usage, so is good to know what to do in this case. ;)

I've been around since the PS Jailbreak days and I've run rebug before, but I don't really use the extra functionality so it's down to whatever is the best CFW at the time. I guess when I've run rebug then I either set it up properly, or wasn't playing dvd/bluray movies.

If cobra 7.52 was available for habib then I'd probably be running that. I have on my todo list to try to build it, but I wasted any time I had today thinking my ps3 hdmi was broken when it was my tv needing a power cycle. I figured it out because after digging out another ps3 it wouldn't work with that either even though it could display 720p and 1080p from other devices. The exact same thing happened a couple of times before. Most of the time it was black screen with audio, but sometimes it had duplicated images on the screen and sometimes with garbage. It really looked like a GPU issue.

Thanks, that works. Although I'm generally using movian, so I normally have it disabled anyway.

Before activating XMB operation as Retail, should I activate Rebug mode in the System mode option?:confused3:

Sure try it, it won't explode if it doesn't work. :)

The XMB Operation only appear in ToolBox when I activate Rebug in System mode?

Yeah that sounds right. So that tells you it needs to be like that to work, the option gets hidden if you turn off Rebug mode. Toolbox is good like that, user friendly.

I read that the Rebug mode is a Spoof. What would that be exactly? Would it be a Spoof of Debug for Retail mode or a Spoof like Sen Enabler? I could not find much information about it

I am not sure what it does exactly, all I know is I normally turn it on and never turn it off. :)

@Joonie or @bguerville can probably answer this properly.

      Excerpt from rebug.me
To enable the Rebug Mode, the Toolbox swaps 4 system files.

      vsh.self
      sysconf_plugin.sprx
      index.dat
      version.txt

Thanks for the explanation bguerville, I had already read the documentation of Rebug, but I still had many doubts :numbness:

      Default = normal mode

      Rebug mode = .swp

      Debug vsh = vsh.self/ vsh.self.swp
      Retail vsh = vsh.self.cexsp

      ***CEX MODE ***

      NORMAL MODE

CEX [LV2 CEX] + DEBUG VSH [DEX] + COBRA [STAGE 2 CEX]

      REBUG MODE

CEX [LV2 CEX] + DEBUG VSH [DEX] + SPOOF* + COBRA [STAGE 2 CEX]
CEX [LV2 CEX] + RETAIL VSH [CEX] + SPOOF* + COBRA [STAGE 2 CEX]

      *** DEX MODE ***

      NORMAL MODE

DEX [LV2 DEX] + DEBUG VSH [DEX]+ COBRA [STAGE 2 DEX]

      REBUG MODE

DEX [LV2 DEX] + DEBUG VSH [DEX]+ SPOOF* + COBRA [STAGE 2 DEX]
DEX [LV2 DEX] + RETAIL VSH [CEX] + SPOOF* + COBRA [STAGE 2 DEX]

      *** REGARDING SPOOF***

Only if vsh has spoofer built-in - So in case of latest Rebug, there is no spoof at all

It makes sense the last version of cfw dont have to go spoof
