4.84 Custom Firmware (CEX/DEX/REX/noBD/Dualboot)

4.84 CFW / Homebrew / Plugins / Tools

Are you using the cobra version of overflow?
webman runs w/o cobra? I know about the auto mamba loader, but mamba = cobra lite. There are very minimal differences now between the two.

My advice is go back to rebug, or use ferrox. most people have no issues with one of those two. If you choose to use another firmware, i'd probably ask where the release was found, to get better answers. HERE, 99% of your base is on rebug or ferrox.

yeah (Overflow_4.84_v6_noBD_cobraCEX), the disc show in the xmb mounted, but when it boot only shows black screen, ps3 an ps1 run flawless

True, the only CFW I use is REBUG REX and D-REX for DEX :-p:D

Have you tried using a config file for the PS2 iso, if PS3 iso run then maybe its an issue the ISO itself, have your tried other ISO's of your PS2 backups does it do this with them as well?

Cobra CFW is recommended..But there is a webman edition for non-Cobra. It uses multiMAN's payload to load PS3 games in JB folder format. It requires to use PRX Loader. If you use Cobra or MAMBA Loader (e.g. IRISMAN) you can use the lite, standard or full edition of webman.

Its not the iso, it worked fine in rebug. anyway i returned to Rebug
He was not meaning the PS2 ISO was bad or corrupt
What he meant is some PS2 games needs a config file to work normally on PS3

And for the bug you was reporting you really needed to try with one of the PS2 games that doesnt needs config
This way we could discard the config as the culprit of the problem

In other words... the test needs to be repeated with one of the games that appears in green as "playable" in this list and doesnt have any "note" at right (not having any note means the game doesnt needs config file)

And you should have included the TITLE_ID of the game you tested in your report, just incase someone wants to verify that what you said is correct

That's weird, I use the Overflow 4.84 v5 Cobra 7.55 Edition and my PS2 isos working fine with Webman and Multiman.

But they are referering to Classics SW launcher, i run it from the backwards compatibility mode(cecha01 model) I should have said say that from the beginning to be more specific.

yes u can if u are running 4.82 or lower u can still jailbreak if u are 4.83 or 4.84 u are limited on what u can do

You are not limited, you just have to use a Hardware flasher to jailbreak above 4.82. CFW is still CFW.

It doesn't matter which way you do it. Use xlpoit v2 for 4.82 (software jailbreak solution) 4.83 + use Hardware flasher (the original way to jailbreak)

No there is no limtation but he just have to own a Progskeet or Teensy or an E3 Flasher to Jailbreak 4.83 or 4.84 in the old day we jailbreak with Hardware Flasher so think if there is no Software Solution or Exploit meaning all of us are limited as you say haha :)

Do any of these cfw work on superslim consoles yet? I havnt been following the cfw scene for a while. Just wondering if it is still just the HAN option so far.

Its still just HAN these PS3's, on 4.82 OFW. The webkit entry point was patched in the 4.83 update. CFW will not be able to run on these as they use metldr2 on them. Until someone cracks the encryption on this or finds a kernel exploit to allow unsigned code to unrun them it will stay this way. HAN has been making some improvements with some emulators working an NO PSN apps and such.

Hi guys, any news about 4.84 cfw from rebug? Will it happen or not since 4.83 was a no-go..

REBUG REX and D-REX need the DEX OFW pups to make them as well as the CEX OFW pup files as they are hybrids of CEX and DEX. So unless someone out there has them and shares them with the dev's who make rebug then possible no there won't be a rebug till this happens. May be a REBUG lite could be made but thats up to team REBUG if and when they do one.

I am quite happy on 4.82.2 REX and D-REX, and atm I don't see any reason to update it as not much has changed in the OFW updates since 4.82 OFW.

Oh well, that's a lot of work to do for 4.84 cfw. Yeah 4.82.2 is great, using it now but I like to be on latest if possible and use online features without spoofers (I don't really like using spoofers).
Then we'll wait and see what future will be for the ps3. Thanks for the answer ;)
