PS3 4.85 CFW & PS3HEN (Homebrew / Tools / CFW Releases / PS3HEN Updates)

Hey does minvercheck change ever? So, if I check my firmware once, is it ever possible for that number to go up? (asking because i want to install cfw 4.85 on a fat model)

thinking of replacing my hard drive with something else, but not sure if the minimum verison will go up from 1.0 to something else.
 
we've discovered that the 8th byte of the idps has something to do with the base firmware. it (at least in cfw settings) will display different information if the idps is changed. I think @bitsbubba did that to his system when it got banned (we both got banned on the same day, lol). he had a second system with the 3000 series, while his original system was a cfw compatible slim. it displayed the wrong info in cfw settings.

edit: I forgot to mention that even if there was a way to change the idps on a 3/4K system, you still can't install cfw.

Don't think soo.. U can put on any firmware on it and doesn't change the downgradable firmware.

Nope minversion is the version which the console came with from factory so it cannot be changed as it out of factory one time ,but for case of refubrished slims it can be they make a higher factory version with 25XX model

new noob here, just exploited my ps3 but I don't know with of the following firmware should I choose:
Cobra CFW (Abilities of a Standard CFW + Cobra v8.xx Payload)

REBUG REX CFW (a hybrib of CEX (retail) / DEX (debug) Firmware)
  • Unavailable (LITE Version is released)

Which CFW should I install?

rebug is the most popular, but ferrox is very good too. I don't know about spy as I've never used it. you can't play ps2 isos from external.
 
I know this is the wrong place .. but anyone have experience with the ps3 just turning on and nothing happening? I pulled the hd and I can't even get into the recovery menu ... is my system toast? (CFW 4.85). Oh, and the controller even plugged in will not connect. Just 4 red flashes on it)

I'm not sure but it is possible that you are experiencing GLOD
 
Issue 1:-
Toggles qa flag is not working try habib ,rebug toolbox, qa flag enabler ..
Everything is installing correctly
But at activation (when press l1+l2+r1+r2+l3+down in network settings)no options appearing.
Try 15 times..today....
I am using cobra 2.0 ferrox 4.85 so
I want to change from ferrox to rebug cfw...
Please...help .
Issue 2:-
Note:- after installing webman my ps3 sink fan is
spinning at a very high speed making loud noise...
Ps3 model A2003 slim.....
After uninstall/removing webman everything is back to normal....

I have bought a PS3 that is on 4.46 and I want to upgrade it to 4.85. Do I need to do whole process including flash writing/dumping stuff or an update through XMB is possible and enough?

are on cfw already or official sony update 4.46?
if you are already on cfw then just install new cfw no problem

Do you mean that the PS3 is already on a 4.46 CFW...? If so then you just install a later CFW version. Once jailbroken you don't need to patch the PS3 everytime you want to install another CFW....
 
4.86 is out now, but CCAPI doesn't work with it. I updated to Rebug 4.86 the other day. MultiMan still works good and I can sign in with no issue.

I'm waiting on a CCAPI update tho.
 
hi guys, this is my first time trying to update my ps3 cfw to newer version (mine is 4.50 which is really old). And i'm kinda lost with all those names.
i already watched many youtube videos on how to update my device but still can't choose the right link from 3 below.
I hope there is someone here could help me which one of the three links above is the right choice for my device. Thank you!

I checked my ps3 and it appears it's Rogero. So this brings me to another question. Is there a problem if i downloaded REBUG 4.84 update into my Regero? i mean, can i just switched easily and follow the update guide as if Regero and rebug is the same or i should do specific things firstly before updating to REBUG.
 
@Gilgamesh why dont you install a 4.86 based CFW instead of 4.85 ?, there are 2 availables right now, rebug 4.86 lite, and ferrox 4.86

You can install a 4.86 CFW on top of your rogero CFW directly

Since 4.86 CFW is a newly version which has only 10 days, I'm afraid to use it right now till i see people's feedback. Maybe it's not as stable as 4.85
& according to some people they suggest updating to REBUG 4.84 instead of REBUG 4.85 lite as it has more features. (Which one you think is better?)
