    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

Ok, understandable. Downgrading is no big deal once on CFW.

Just QA flag your console while on REX via Rebug Toolbox, just requires pressing X on the option. Then you can downgrade as simply as upgrading. Just put the PUP on USB in the same way. Nothing special.

Ok, then I knew how to downgrade after all. QA Flag was already enabled on Rebug Toolbox but it looks it doesn't show up on this new CFW version according to previous users. It looks like PS2 Mode won't be affected on this CFW version just like I wanted.

Doesn't really matter if the QA flag option shows up in Rebug Toolbox. If it was enabled it should still be enabled, Its easy to check QA flag status by inputting the QA flag button combo.

Just checked it too, everything is disabled or unavailable. I have used it outside of rebug firmwares, for the same reason. Perhaps toolbox needs to be updated for 4.87 cfw.

This is an UNOFFICIAL build of Rebug Toolbox with support for 4.87 CEX.

The modified source code is included.

Which options are those?

anything that involves converting to dex will be unavailable. I've been on ferrox before and have used toolbox, and one option I remember being absent was the erk dumping tool (required to convert to dex, which is probably why it's absent. thought, it has other applications), so dump yours now before you update.

Any mediafire mirrors for this? Thx

Hey @Evilnat, quick question. Will you be implementing Cobra 8.3 into the CFW, like a 4.87.3 update? If so, I would love that.
It is possible, if I do not spend much time I will release it in 4.87.3

If you get it working, it would be great to use a cobra updater. I remember joonie made once an updater pkg for 7.52 i think back in 4.81 days. Or you could integrate it in sen enabler. Whatever you like
I will add it to SEN Enabler and my CFW, but a PKG updater... is dangerous becauses hashes, it can semi-semibrick in SLIM and perma-brick in FAT with NAND if some of them are not correct

Thanks. Do you know why rebug.me is down for a lot of time? How can I download Rebug 4.84.2 REX, for instance?

afaik, it was originally down for maintenance. I don't know why it's been down for so long though. I know there's a way to access the webpage based on how it looked last time it was up. I do have that firmware on my pc, but I don't have the md5. it's part of my internal hdd backup I did a while back, so it just has the name in the updater folder.

1-The 1 byte patch by @DeViL303 in download_plugin would be a nice feature. More info:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/additional-cobra-features.23795/page-2#post-270039

Other ideas are:
2- Include a debug edition of cobra in dev_flash so it can be toggled with a plugin like webMAN MOD or SEN Enabler
example: /dev_flash/sys/stage2.bin & /dev_flash/sys/stage2.bin.dbg
3- Modify the safety code (emer_init) to additionally disable cobra payload if using the debug edition is enabled.
i.e. if exists /dev_flash/sys/stage2.bin.ori rename /dev_flash/sys/stage2.bin to /dev_flash/sys/stage2.bin.dbg
(This is a variation of @haxxxen idea of Cobra safety)
4- Package Manager: Include @DeViL303's XMB File Manager query as standard feature to allow navigation of full file system
Example in this: category_game.xml (I added it to Delete Package Files > PS3 System Storage)
5- Package Manager: Move PlayStation Network Content down, so the first option is Install Package Files. IMO this option is used more frequently than the bubbles of PSN Content.
Example in this: category_game.xml (More ideas are available in the same xml)
6- It's not mentioned in the features of Evilnat's CFW, but it would be nice to patch the webkit to allow exploits.
7- It's not mentioned in the features of Evilnat's CFW, but it would be nice to have the Rebug's CFW Toolbox on Network column.
8- It's not mentioned in the features of Evilnat's CFW, but it would be nice to have the PS2 emulator patched by @3141card to show CPU/RSX temperatures.

"PS/PS2 - Upscaler" settings
sorry that I had to quote you, but it is only about this bit of info I want to ask sth and you have brought it to my attention again

afaik, this is only available for backwardscompatible models, especially "PS2 Upscaler". I've found a patch on devwiki to enable this option on all other models as well. so my question is, does this affect anything on a non backwards model?

Code:
search
419E006898610070
replace
6000FFFF98610070

guess no, since there wasn't any planned netemu back then

probably I should summon @sandungas

I cant find any info about that patch, and im not sure if it works in non-bc PS3 models
All i can say about it is that setting is stored in /dev_flash2/etc/xRegistry.sys/setting/game/emuUpConvert

Edit:
And the other setting named "PS/PS2 Smoothing" is stored in /dev_flash2/etc/xRegistry.sys/setting/game/emuSmoothing

sorry me, it was ps2 smoothing. this does not appear on non bc models
the patch itself wasn't on wiki, it was included in those old lv2patchers in 3.55 times. I will search for the link in wiki

ok, found it @sandungas
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Talk:PS2_Emulation
middle page

rereading the page, this should also have worked for ps2softemu
As far i see some of that info was written by EussNL and he was doing the tests by inserting a real PS2 disc into a CECH-20xx with CFW 3.55

Softemu was included up to firmware 4.01... so that first models of PS3 slim had the file ps2_softemu.self... but it was completly disabled internally
Softemu was intended to load real PS2 discs inserted in the drive, the PS3 slims never supported that

Time later sony reomoved softemu from the firmware and replaced it by netemu that drops the support to real PS2 discs inserted in the drive completly

Im not sure if the "PS/PS2 smoothing" options belongs to a specific ps2 emu... but there is a command in netemu named "Disable Smoothing filter" that seems to be related with it. Is available in that "secret menu" from netemu that you can trigger with a secret button combo

Dunno, im going to summon @mysis that was playing a lot with emus :)

My PS3 Slim is not BC but I still have the PS2 XML settings on Rebug 4.84.2 when playing PS2 games (and PSX/PSP XML settings when playing PSX/PSP games).

Do you know if after installing this new version some XML settings (not only those regarding PSX/PS2/PSP games) disappear or go to another place?

Also, do you know if the latest versions of IRISMAN, PS2 Config Database, PSN Patch (and its plugin), PSP Remasters Launcher Fixed [jjkkyu], RetroArch (regarding RetroArch, I was never able to download the PS3 version from the official site since the link is always down so I always used Brewology, which I don't know I should) and Rebug Toolbox (do I have to install it in the first place since Rebug isn't even installed?) work and if all of their settings show up and work (apparently some Rebug Toolbox and XML settings disappear)?

EDIT: Maybe webMAN MOD works in this version because I've tried a lot of things and I was never able to make it work on my PS3 without freezing it. I don't know if I should waste time trying it.

Hi, quick question. I had rebug installed on 4.86 and now its stuck in bootloop after kid starter update. Can I update it through safemode to 4.87 evilnat or I have to format hdd and jb it to 4.86 again?
