    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

Btw @aldostools i uploaded Cobra 8.3 in Github, i didn't add reActPSN (freezes my PS3) and QA Flag yet (don't know if you tried it). I'm improving the code every time but there is already a base to work on.

Thank you for share your code. I reviewed it and noticed that you didn't use my fork of Cobra 8.3 directly.
For the name of some variables and code structure of your project, it seems you picked snippets and added them to your fork.

qa_flags, reActPSN and make_rif are modules originally developed by habib for PS3HEN.
I adapted them to MAMBA with various changes in their algorithms and coding style. Then I included them in Cobra 8.3.

qa_flags and make_rif modules are working fine in MAMBA 8.3, but reActPSN was causing freeze So I commented out that module.

I haven't tested Cobra 8.3 (as I state in the repo) due the lack of a failsafe system that prevent a brick or semibrick that would put in risk my other projects,

With the new failsafe system in stage0 that @bguerville and I were working in this thread, I will be able to test Cobra, but for now there is not any CFW with that feature yet.

It would be nice if you could test if Cobra 8.3 from my repo works without additional changes (obviously the failsafe in stage0 must be implemented first), There are several minor changes that you probably are missing (the changelog only mentions the major ones).

I compiled and tried your initial code but make_rif and block_homebrew didn't work as expected (don't know if i did something wrong), so i used my repo as a base to work on. Yes i removed auto dev_blind mount and earth for example. If QA Flag is working as expected i will add it too.

Sure, I'll try it and later I give you the results, btw i have 4.87.3 Evilnat with Cobra 8.3 working in my PS3

Hmmm It's weird. These modules should work as they are practically a copy/paste of the ones implemented in MAMBA.

Apart of auto mount dev_blind or auto swap of earth.qrc (implemented for DeViL303's Ultimate Toolbox), there are many other missing features like:
- prx_start_modules in modulespatch.c (the function allows to load system modules implemented by haxxxen)
- some safefy code added to load_plugin_kernel
- some dead functions & variables like cobra.c, sys_psp_set_emu_path(), sys_storage_ext_mount_encrypted_image()
- partial folder remapping in mappath.c in not implemented
just to mention a few of the things I implemented..

I found that you are removing syscalls 389 and 409 in SYSCALL8_OPCODE_STEALTH_ACTIVATE.
These syscalls are official syscalls for sm_set_fan_policy_sc and sm_get_fan_policy_sc respectively.
I think you shouldn't remove them, otherwise the fan control applications will not work if CFW syscalls are disabled.

BTW Moments ago I updated my repo with 487 "REX". It has the offsets for explore_plugin from your repo and other updates.

@aldostools I tried your Cobra 8.3 4.87 REX and my PS3 freezes (semibrick, but i have NOR), in stage0 and stage2. I patched OFW lv2_kernel.self to load stage2.cex but it freezes. I will keep trying.

a question came out version 4.87 REX?
is it possible to convert to DEX 4.87?

No, there is not a Rebug 4.87 REX and I don't know if it will exist in the future now that rebug.me is down.
My fork of Cobra is a "REX" edition, because it includes patches for CEX & DEX,
As the kernels haven't changed since 4.82, the same port could be used with minimal adjustments.

In theory 4.87 DEX should be almost identical to 4.84 DEX (like happens with CEX).
So it should be possible to have a "4.87 DEX" based on 4.84. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that is what Citra Mulia did in his 4.87 PRO.

Thank you for let me know. I would start testing disabling some of the new modules (qa, fan_control, make_rif) and reducing the number of map paths. Another place to look is modulespatch.c, although currently most of the patches are disabled.

Also the socat edition could be consuming too much memory, if you tried that version.

I think is better to use compilation flags to allow to compile cobra with a different selection of features, is pretty much the same i was saying the other day about the "cobra flavours"
I know, it could be tricky to implement this flags because requires to write the code in a very "modular" way to prevent some features to break others incase are disabled, but the compilation flags are a lot better than deleting code

Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that is what Citra Mulia did in his 4.87 PRO.

understood

Indeed my cobra implementation is very modular and already uses the flags.
Unlike the latest releases of Rebug, in my fork the files are split in separate files per module.

Same as I did with webMAN MOD. The original webman was written in a single file. Now it has more than 68 split files (modules)..

Hi I've been happily using you're firmware but after playing my gta4 iso ( had everything else as folder ) my PS3 fat does not read any type of disc anymore .
I think it may be the same thing as here: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/multiman-webman-not-reading-disc.26879/
Can someone help me?
I've already cleaned the laser I don't think it suddenly broke.

Assuming the ISO is a backup of your game disc, is the disc icon disc visible in XMB?
Try disabling Cobra and enable it again, then restart and try launching your ISO

Hi thanks for your answer.
Loading games including iso is not a problem.
Real discs don't show up in xmb, it's loading forever.
Where can I disable Cobra?

Hmmm.. I have been testing this firmware since 4.87.1 and have never had a problem playing any original Playstation 3 Disk, Have you tried reinstalling the firmware to see if that fixes it? You also stated that you have already cleaned the laser, if you removed the drive from the system to clean it go back and check all connection to the drive and ensure they are all securely connected, One loose cable and the drive will not work.

webMAN MOD or SEN Enabler for example can disable Cobra, if you want i cand send you 4.87.3 with that option in XMB
Hi that would be great I will try it with webman or Sen enabler in the meantime
@Brandon
Yes I've reinstalled evilnats firmware but it didn't fix the problem.
After that I took it apart and did the cleaning. It behaves the exact same way after the cleaning that's why I don't think I broke something.

Are you using noBD CFW?
noBD CFW will disable optics, cannot read CD/DVD/BD.
