    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

Guys @Evilnat, @jcorrea and @Zwei

I installed the Evilnat 4.88.2 and the What's new worked with/out the last pkg patch.

You guys just need to reload the XMB after disabling it.

The only problem is it not setting the right country based on system language. ( at least brazilian portuguese, it should be "br")

I installed everything from scratch to test a thing I promised to @AlexRhine. I will try this also.

@Evilnat
About the new tab it would be good to remove it, it's conflicting with the (Sign In) block

It is not conflicting it, after disabling it and enabling again, the system think that an account is tied to the user, ( since the flag is changed), so it will ask for sign in and if the syscalls are enabled, the PSN lock will be active, since it will sign you in.

I think @Evilnat could null the fields changed when enabling it inside xRegistry when disabling it, so it'll avoid asking for sign-in and will show the PSN "quick" sign-up without an account again.

Updated xai_plugin, added Sort Games by Name and Date, Sort Games by Name and Sort Games with Standard Options. These options are in Basic Tools.

https://mega.nz/file/IVsjxYDL#-8w0ZJqebLkejiBiZFJhV8HD41uF3O0KIWBVLkZNjUk

As for the "What's New" option, I decided to disable it (it can be enabled again if you uncomment line 333 in category_network.xml), patches for some languages don't work and the best solution is to use english patches

I modified Enables QA Flags through "Network Settings" string, now it shows the button combo to enable debug menu

@LuanTeles @jcorrea Here it is the file with the current Brazilian language strings in case you want to take a look

I install this, then it will beep and the system will restart I assume? will the sort by title be under cfw tools/settings over the network tab or will it will it have the sort mechanics by default?

@Evilnat , nm, I just alphabetized manually. is the beta the final release of your .2 cfw? or are there still things to be added? I was going to wait until the final release, but I decided to do this today as my "little project" for the morning.

Yes, if the PS3 beeps once, this means that the PKG was installed fine, and the PS3 will reboot.

I think the sort will work only in Game tab

what I was wondering was if the sorting method is in the normal sorting section in games (triangle iirc), or do you sort it by title using cfw settings over the network tab?

I am not sure if its worth having any toggle for custom sorting in CFW Tools (xai_plugin). This alphabetical sorting mod can be included by default. The user really loses nothing except the option to sort from oldest to newest. Sorting by name A-Z is much more useful.

I agree. Indeed it would be as simple as use the files in the zip that I posted here :D

thanks, but I did it myself earlier today. I named it alphabetical for descend and ascend, but I transposed the +/- in the registory.xml, since the triangle looks more like an arrow in my mind than ascend/descend like sony has it. it's easier to manage for me at least.

im installing this cfw (evilnat 4.88) on my third ps3 now and this is the first system i have come across this problem, everything up to this point has been good and green checkmarks and 0 faults and my system (CECH-2101) is on ofw 4.88 but my issue is that when installing the cfw it fails copying at around 70% everytime saying the data is corrupted and ive tried switching usb drives, completely re downloading the cfw (5 times) starting the bg toolset flash patch every time and then rebooting the system before updating. ONCE it got to 90% and then gave the failed message. ive also noticed the actual link to the 4.88evilnat has been taken off of blaine locklairs youtube. is there something i am missing, im not doing anything but this today so reply if you can ill be waiting.

I'm not 100% but I know from my experience I have gotten an error message at the 90% mark when I was having issues with a BD connection. Have you googled the error message to confirm what the issue describes? It may be an issue with either the BD going bad or even a bad connection with the cable.

Sounds like you have not applied the patch to allow CFW to install, double check your BG Toolset procedure and make sure you are completing all steps.

This might help:

1. In the PS3 Toolset Flash Memory Manager make sure to apply the patch after loading/validating it. Many people forget that patching is a 2 step process & you need to be invited to reboot for CFW installation by the Flash Memory Manager through a toast message.

2. If the patch was applied correctly by the PS3 Toolset the first time round, the console is jailbroken, there is no need to patch again, it won't change a thing, a failed installation cannot mess up the patched CoreOS.

3. Use recovery mode to install the CFW PUP.

4. Hardware issues can on occasion make a fw installation fail, it's quite rare but always a slim possibility.
At worst, if nothing works, you can try to install OFW, you can always jailbreak again with the PS3 Toolset if need be. And if OFW won't install either, you may need to investigate the hardware (BD, BT, HDD...).

ive been aplying the patch everytime, thanks though

I'm not 100% but I know from my experience I have gotten an error message at the 90% mark when I was having issues with a BD connection. Have you googled the error message to confirm what the issue describes? It may be an issue with either the BD going bad or even a bad connection with the cable.
im gonna try a different cable because i have been using the same one this whole time ill let you know

And if OFW won't install either, you may need to investigate the hardware (BD, BT, HDD...).
good to know i dont have to keep patching it, what i have been doing is going to the bg main page and letting it do its thing and then i go into flash memory manager, select the flash memory patch and load from https and once that is done what i have been doing is pressing close then exiting browser and then rebooting my ps3 and once it starts up i try the update and it gets to 70-90 and fails. i have tried in recovery mode too but it doesnt even try to install it just says corrupted data but im getting it right from here and its also worked on my other systems and everytime i have been re checking the md5. so you say with this patch my system is jailbroken, is there a way to downgrade to an older ofw or do i need to have cfw first?

If you think the patch has been applied, to double check it was applied correctly you can do another dump after applying the patch, then check that with the ps3 dump checker on PC.

and load from https and once that is done what i have been doing is pressing close
You need to load it from HTTPS, then you need to apply it. 2 steps.

Then if you wanted to you could reboot and do another dump to check it was applied correctly.

after load from https, you must select "apply".

you must install CFW first. then enable qa flag. with qa flag enabled, you can install any firmware version you want. (if you install OFW or HFW after CFW, qa flag will be ignored and you can only upgrade untill you go back to CFW).
