    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

Hello, my 3 year old daughter found my ps3 in a drawer and wants to play some games, its still on rogero 4.46.

Two questions (which I don't know if they should be here so apologies if they should not):
1. Can I upgrade directly to this from rogero 4.46?
2. I remember there being a way to confirm QA flag was set, however I cant find the answer on google (probably in some dead site), so how do I do it?

1. Yes
2. Evilnat's CFW has an additional xmb menu with many options among which one to check the QA status. Check the OP!

Is This the best CFW?
Best cfw?
There is no such thing really, it depends on your needs.

But at the moment, we might say that this CFW is the best choice there is for 4.88 although it's not as if there was a lot of competition, nobody seems interested in making new CFWs anymore, we should consider ourselves lucky that Nat worked so hard for a few weeks to put this one together.

Evilnat's 4.88.2 CFW offers a lot of new features, an improved cfw tools menu & an updated Cobra payload.
I suggest you read the OP.

So how do i go about getting EID Root Key? Today i realized this had that ability and couldn't find the option need to know asap to access my HDD on PC.

If you use Evilnat 4.88.2, the option is in CFW Tools menu found under Network category.

Alternatively you can use Rebug Toolbox 02.03.06 to dump the EID Root Key.
Thank you apparently was still using the old private tester build of this. Wasn't aware it got final stage yet. Is it possible to message you? I would like to discuss maybe adding a very useful feature to your GUI HDD tool. Like trying to get it to import files into the HDD a you only support viewing and copying files. If you added import option that be way faster than FTP or manual usb installs. I have many PS3's and having this feature added would help me greatly. PS3 is so slow and HDD speed is dreadful running on PS3 OS level.

Aldo wrote the GUI but the hdd reader tool was written by @3141card.
Here is the final version of the hdd reader tool (for Windows) the dev posted a few months ago.

There is a Linux version too.

As to being able to write to the encrypted hdd, it is a feature that has been talked about many times over the years, it is definitely feasible, I don't think it would be that hard now that reading & decrypting has been sorted out (everything is relative of course) but I don't think 3141card wants to pursue this further & nobody else has been willing to take the project over.
I will let Aldo answer but I don't expect he will be interested either, other people have asked before. Lol

The hdd main partition is an encrypted UFS2 partition but there are other system partitions on the disk & s#ny did its own little cooking organising the disk & its on the fly encryption/decryption engine.
If you have the encryption key (eid_root_key), you can use Linux to mount it. It needs a little setup but it's feasible if you are a Linuxer. You could also boot into Linux or freebsd directly on the PS3 (from a USB device) & do the setup to mount the internal hdd partition there.

Hopefully he does add that support or whomever. Me personally don't like linux due to it requiring many more steps. I do got the key tho. It's a very useful feature to add it would probably make it easier and draw more attention as no one would dread the slow PS3 speeds. Thanks on updated link tho

The internal hdd is never the weak link in any copy operation.

FTP is limited by the networking capabilities & it has been much slower since a firmware update a few years ago (4. 21?) that probably revised the network driver code or similar.

BD installations are limited by the BD drive, optical disc drives have always been notoriously slow in both read & access times. That's why game files are installed on the internal hdd.

USB copy operations are limited by the usb2 specs & by the libc functions that most homebrews use & which are up to 10 times slower than direct syscalls due to the extra code a libc file io function executes for stuff like multithreading safety locks etc.. with the usual trade-off perf/safety.

Yes indeed all 3 ways are very limited and has drawbacks. If we can finally get full read and write access to PS3 HDD on Windows game changing stuff there. Would be great if PS4 can do same i work with many systems being able to make exact clones with games and hombrew and ect would make it easier for me.

it's possible with the ps4 (not sure if it's read and write though) using the eap key. there's either an app or script that can do it.

Can we get a trophy unlocker? There are some games that have trophies tied to playing online, but since some of these games' servers are shut down, there is no way to earn these trophies.

The best (and only way) options to unlock "impossible to get" trophies are Apollo Save Tool and PS3TrophyIsGood, but I've step upon trophy data corruption most of the time during the sync.

Well I don't use Apollo because when unlocking the trophies the percentage is damaged and it doesn't show the true percentage of the trophies. The best option at the moment is to install REBUG 4.84.2

1. Install REBUG 4.84.2, Evilnat 4.88.2 allows direct installation to firmware even if the version is lower.
2. Once in REBUG it is not necessary to convert your system to DEX, just go directly to the trophies, press triangle and press "unlock" unlock all you want.
3. Once unlocked, and if you did not convert your system to DEX you will be able to update without problems again to Evilnat 4.88.2 with all your unlocked trophies.

I know it is a lot to uninstall and reinstall but it is the only method where the trophies are not corrupted. Luck

Well I don't use Apollo because when unlocking the trophies the percentage is damaged and it doesn't show the true percentage of the trophies. The best option at the moment is to install REBUG 4.84.2

Good news is I managed to unlock the trophies, but when I sync, the trophies don't show up.

Very rare, try to rebuild the database is usually useful, I hope you haven't tried to synchronize pure platinum trophies, because you will earn a ban in your account, if after that it does not let you synchronize, may be a there is a mistake for the amount of trophies be careful.

The procedure is as follows:
  1. Sync your trophies BEFORE ANYTHING and download them via FTP.
  2. Carefully, set the trophies that you want (with Apollo Save Tool or PS3TrophyIsGood) and save your changes. Always leave some easy-to-get trophies in order to get them in-game.
  3. Upload the trophy folder to your user account via FTP (check that everything uploaded correctly).
  4. Rebuild database and check file system.
  5. Start your game and get one of the easy trophies left. Wait until the notification pops and wait again until it dissapears.
  6. Connect to PSN (remember to disable syscalls and such if you are on CFW).
  7. Press the PS button and go to PlayStation Network > Trophy Collection and let it sync.
  8. Cross fingers :P
  9. If there weren't any errors, you should now see your manually set trophies synced along the last trophy you just get.
And that's it!.

The trick is to unlock trophies one game at a time, in order to avoid corrupting everything and losing track of which game is breaking the sync process.
