    Savegames conversion tutorial

WARNING: This option will overwrite your current savedata in dev_usbXXX, use it with caution

    • Download someone else's savegame for your game of your choice
    • Put the savedata in your pendrive in "X:\PS3\SAVEDATA" (pendrive must be in FAT32)
    • Put in the pendrive in the PS3
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Convert Savedata
    • Wait until the conversion finishes
    • Once finished, copy your converted savedata throught XMB "Saved Data Utility (PS3)"
    • Launch your game and load your new savedata

    Creation of act.dat tutorial

WARNING: The accountID is linked to savedata and trophies, so, if your current user already have a valid accountID and you overwrite it, you will be unable to use your trophies and savedata on that account until you restore the original accountID in xRegistry.sys.

I recommend to use an empty account without trophies and savedata or an account without accountID.

To create a fake act.dat, Cobra 8.3 must be enabled, and your PS3 must have at least one account with a valid accountID and launch a game that requires a RIF/RAP license file.

Cobra will search a valid accountID in all existing accounts and create act.dat while the game is launched through the XMB. If no accountID is found, act.dat will not be created.

You can create a fake accountID (like reactPSN), to do this go to Network > ★ Custom Firmware Tools > PSN Tools and choose between "Create accountID" or "Overwrite accountID" (Be careful about the last option because if you already have a fake/real accountID it will be overwritten). It is recommended to use these options in an account that does not have an ID. The PS3 will restart if everything went well.

The tutorial would be the following:
    • Download your purchased PSN game from PS Store
    • Put game RAP file in "X:\exdata" or "/dev_hdd0/exdata"
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Cobra will check if any of your PS3 accounts have accountID
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

If none of your accounts have a valid accountID you will need to create it. To do this log into the local PS3 account where you want to create the accountID. You can see if your current local account has an accountID choosing Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Show accountID.

To create a faked act.dat do the following:
    • Make sure Cobra 8.3 is enabled
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Create accountID
    • Select Network Tab > [★ Custom Firmware Tools] > PSN Tools > Activate account
    • Launch your purchased PSN game
    • Faked act.dat will be created while the game is launching

Now you have a faked act.dat and your local account is activated. The act.dat file works for every local account, you only need one file for all accounts.

    Block PSN log in

This method is developed by @DeViL303, it will only work with Cobra enabled, Cobra will block log in on PSN/SEN while the CFW syscalls are enabled, to enable it again you need to disable CFW syscalls completely (you can do it with webMAN MOD, psnpatch, SEN Enabler, etc…).

If you want to disable this feature, simply delete /dev_flash/vsh/resource/npsignin_plugin.lck

As is, I dunno if it's wise to mess with the auto login feature..
Auto login is disabled by default so if a user chooses to enable it, it makes little sense for Cobra to mess with that decision despite the risks involved.

Currently Cobra blocks manual PSN connections when syscalls are enabled & it's up to users to disable syscalls if they wish to use PSN.

Disabling custom syscalls automatically on PSN connection would basically be the opposite approach.
Technically speaking it's feasible, probably quite easy to implement & it would take care of the auto login issue.
However, it's not a modification that can be made lightly, the possible consequences of such a mod in Cobra must be reviewed & various tests performed.
And of course it would still be up to Nat to deploy the change in his CFW.
I see. I may have enabled auto login accidently
And I mean to disable syscall automatically if you login manually. Just a suggestion. i'm a lazy guy xD

But that's the thing, fundamentally Cobra should try to do as little as possible by default, it should not have to impose its own choices or policies but instead leave to users the decision to apply changes or not. It makes the system less automated but a lot more flexible.

Blocking PSN connections by default when custom syscalls aren't disabled is a new feature, this is the first CFW that does it so we could say it's still experimental at CFW level & in that context your suggestion makes perfect sense.
Before this cfw level implementation, we used to rely on sprx plugins & gamepad combos to do the job of locking/unlocking PSN & disabling custom syscalls.
If you prefer that way, you should still be able to use psnpatch for instance (or wMM) & their common gamepad combo to disable syscalls & unlock PSN.

so i have a question i do have a bluray drive but it sometimes wont load my games even if no scratched so if i were to use the cfw no bd evilnat 4.88 would work? or how it works

No, using a noBD cfw would be a mistake.
NoBD CFWs are only meant to be used with consoles with a missing or malfunctioning BD drive which is not your case.
Moreover noBD solves nothing, the system features that need the BD to work are non functional, no iso support for instance.

You can add CECHH01 to the list of tested consoles! Nevermind, I can't sign-in after I clear the syscals and whenever I try to it says my ID or password is incorrect or I have 2 Factor on and I know everything is correct and 2 Factor is disabled! It's like SEN/PSN is constantly disabled! Help please?

ok thank you sorry for asking a stupid question
There is no such thing as a stupid question, only stupid answers.. Lol

If your BD drive is starting to show signs of problems reading discs (assuming those are in decent shape), you should first test whether the issue impacts only BD discs or also DVD & CD discs.

This kind of problem can be caused by a failing optical block (laser block), some blocks have one lens (old phat models with BMD-001 & BMD-002), all the others are dual lens. When it's a dual lens, you often get issues with one lens (the blue BD lens usually) & not the other (red for DVD), then you know the issue comes from a failing lens.
You can find all specs & technical data in the wiki.
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Bluray_Drive

I recommend changing the optical block if that is confirmed to be the cause of the read errors, they are easy to change, they don't require any remarrying BS or whatever & they should be relatively cheap. Alternatively you could buy a dead console (same model) for a few bucks, get the optical block you need & have spare parts as well as a spare idps.

Well, I'm running into disc reading problems myself, but they're really weird ones. I bought an Infamous disc and aside from a few minor scratches, it's almost-pristine. But the console says it's an 0x80010514. I then insert a couple other PS3 games, nearly five of them work fine but not Uncharted, which worked when I still had Evilnat 4.87.

I go on a wild goose hunt trying to understand the error code, and I end up checking the file system and rebuilding the database with no dice. Then I have the bright idea of dumping Infamous with multiman. It dumps successfully. But later on I try playing that backup and it throws an 0x80010017. So I try an IRD check with Managunz, 9 files valid, 1000 modified...then I learn later that when using the Dump decrypted disc function, Managunz is unable to get "d1" and "d2" and also "get_keys" for both Infamous and Uncharted, but it still manages to correctly dump MGSV GZ.

I don't really have an idea what I'm dealing with here. The discs dump but somehow the console isn't able to decrypt them? And yet other PS3 discs work, including ACII which I just played the other day for hours.

Have you tried remarrying the bd drive?

But hey, it gets better actually. This morning, I inserted my Uncharted disc about twice or thrice and got the game to boot. Then I inserted Infamous and from then on it was 80010514s for both games again.

I also wonder why just these two games, but the rest just play without a hitch? To give a short list of what works of my discs:

  • GTA V
  • Assassin's Creed II
  • Def Jam Icon
  • Heavenly Sword
  • Resistance 2
  • Uncharted 3
All of which are in various conditions with R2 being the most pristine and ACII having a major scratch but somehow still 100% readable.

Can it be the laser is dirty? But why act up with two discs and not the rest of them?

0x80010514 errors are related to BD read issues.

Check the wiki error codes list.
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Error_Codes
Yeah, I checked that page too after you linked the BD specs above. TBH I'm probably panicking because of Uncharted suddenly becoming unreadable. Worth noting this wasn't the only time I got an error from Uncharted, but when it was thrown I immediately dismissed it and then launched the game successfully.

Will test them out on some store's PS3 and then figure out what to do from there.

Thanks for the help!

Hello, thank you so much @Evilnat and all other developers and people in the community who have helped making the custom firmware. But I actually haven't still updated to 4.88.2 as I am still on cfw 4.87 ferrox. But I have an issue on the game WWE 2k17, the game has many issue like so often a massage would appear after launching the it and say " game data is corrupt please exit the game after deleting the WWE 2k17 game data" and its even impossible to install a DLC all because of this issue other issues include like black screen and this happens in many ways like sometimes when also launching the game or sometimes even during gameplay the game sound would be heard but there appears suddenly a black screen some other issues includes crashing, slow gameplay just like the game is in slow-motion and some other things. this is strange because some other people have reported some issues on their games on the same series like WWE 2K14 and 15 but on 4.88.1 I am on ferrox 4.87. And it would be impossible to launch the game on wmm because it would always have the above problems every single time but I can only be able to launch the game on multiman, I have already enabled BD mirror and internal all other off. and I have tried deleting the browser cache and other unnecessary things, I have tried to synchronize the clock, be connected to the internet( not PSN) with media servers enabled too, I have tried rebuilding the database and restoring the file system, I have tried uninstall and reinstall the game, I have also tried deleting its game data and updates and reinstall them, etc. And it still didn't work either. I don't know how to fix this so my questions are:-
1. does updating to evilnat 4.88.2 will fix this problem?
2. If not then what can I do ? all other games are fine if at least some does only have small issues but its not much common for it to happen.
please remember that its only possible for the game to work only when launching with multiman but web man mod doesn't work and it sometimes successes and mostly sometimes not I can say more that 85% of the time it doesn't work. I don't specifically know what the problem is. I have also updated all my homebrews to the latest version and also tried to uninstall them and reinstall.
I have set the fan speed to 37 or 38% in web man mod. i have also good amount of storage space on the hdd the hdd size is 320 GB I don't have much games only small amount of them some are big in size like Call of duty black ops 1 and 2 holding like 18- 21 GB both. the system works smoothly and fine sometimes issues occurs but not always.
ps3 model: CECH-2503A
web man mod version: v1.47.36 multiman: v04.85.01
current system firmware information: CFW 4.87 ferrox CEX.
additionally I would also recommend aldostools to update web man mod for it to reduce memory usage if possible to give more for the system.
thanks :)

1. Where does the game backup come from? Did you make it yourself from a retail disc? Are any game files modded or is it a straight unmodified JB folder format dump?

2. As we don't know yet what the problem is with your game backup, we cannot tell whether or not updating to this CFW would fix it.

3. The recommended backup format for retail disc games is ISO format, not legacy JB folder format. ISO offers the best compatibility rates.
I suggest using Irisman to dump an iso image of your WWE retail disc & try mounting it with wMM.

4. What problem have you had that was caused by lack of memory on the system side due to wMM?
wMM memory usage has been discussed for years & WebMAN-MOD already includes features to lower it if ever for some reason wMM hugs too much memory for your setup. Keeping in mind that lowering memory usage basically translates into losing features!

webMAN MOD allows to install 3 editions for different memory footprint requirements: default (rebug-ps3mapi), full edition (largest memory footprint), lite (smallest memory footprint).

webMAN MOD setup also provides options to reduce memory usage:
- Disable PS3MAPI or NET servers for extra free memory.
- FTP server also can be disabled, although it is not recommended.
- Memory usage allows to define the maximum memory allocated during content scanning, directory listing or web commands. That memory normally is not in use, except during these temporary processes. So the memory usage is minimal.
- Additionally the memory can be configured to be allocated in different memory containers: vsh, bg, fg, debug, app. VSH memory container is the default. bg is recommended to allocate up to 3MB.
