PS3 Best WiFi bridge for 20gb B01

Hello, I picked up a thicc 20gb black beast today and was wondering if anyone on here with the same model has had good experiences with WiFi bridges.

I went to eBay and it's the usual cheap ones with unrealistic mpbs claims and I don't wanna get scammed.

I also looked into the COK001 WiFi board mod but taken that I can't permently have he WiFi as an option without CFW and some motherboard modifications. Sadly, I will have to choose a bridge instead.

Hoping to hear some 20gb veterans chime in!
 
@atreyu187 he is the man to speak for the 20Gb THICC boys, he might be helpful regarding adding WIFI to the B01

You can add WIFI to the B01, although you'll have to switch the CIW-001 board from a A01, because i am not sure if you can add an antenna on the existing B01 board, but if you can that even better, and then its all done via Software, but he knowns more than i do, so he shall explain it in detail.

If it was me I would just save the hassle and get something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0148NO58W/ , it will also get you much faster wifi than any hardware mod of the ps3 will get you.

If you want to do a hardware mod, remove the pcb from that and fit it inside the PS3 case :)

You would get even more speed out of a gigabit bridge.

If it were possible to permanently flash the PS3 into thinking it was an A01 and return it to OFW I would do it. I have 3 CIW-001 A01 board with antenna as well. The BO1 does not have the antenna prop to screw in on the top EMS shield but I can always swap a spare over.

I have the parts and skills, I just wanna remain on OFW /":/

Yeah you can perma flash to an A-01 even being on a B-01 but to would need CFW for a bit. This is the easy part but you still have to populate hardware on the board as well it's not just as easy as dropping in the Wi-Fi. Here is more info on that then it is as easy as changing the eighth byte of the IDPS from 02 to 01 then use FSM to install your firmware and nada Bing bada bang your B-01 for all intents and purposes updating from here on out will think it's an A-01 leaving the wifi settings. No need to do this but once.

Hey I have a significant amount of extra boards in my room right now, all of them Ayo one in Edo one. If I could know how to switch over the parts I need I could get this done and make a right up. Could you message me further with details I'm very interested to know on how to make this work. Maybe even getting the card reader to work because I have so many extra parts
 
My grammar is terrible because I use talk to text but yes, I am very interested in doing this and documenting it so that others may, even though a small group, get this done them selves it would be a pretty significant modification
 
I didn't do the population of the board. I had someone do it but he managed to do it by simply looking at that thread as no one had done it before. And don't care about the card reader so never attempted this besides I would want to hack my B-01 case for something I wouldn't ever use. That is why I opted for a totally stealth install of my flasher. Only thing I did was convert it to A-01 so once he did the work wifi would actually show up in the network settings. I can do any SMD stuff. A chip and wires sure while it isn't the best no biggie but something that small I know it's beyond my scope and didn't want to chance fussing up my baby.
 
Very true, do you remember the name of the person you got a hold of to do the SMC work? I just need to know what components come over and document it and then we can have this baby is a write up.
