PS3 BETA v0.3 - 4.75 HABIB (COBRA v7.10)

Here comes a BETA RELEASE of 4.75 HABIB (COBRA v7.10) CFW (v0.3), Fellow CFW developer Joonie played a big assist in the release of this COBRA CFW by porting COBRA 7.10 to HABIB's firmware. This is labeled as a beta release (by HABIB) as there is a couple of bugs that need to be addressed and both developer's HABIB and Joonie are on separate vacations currently. So,[break]ss[/break] the developer's will not have time to address these minor bugs until they get back from thier respective trips, thus they decided on this public BETA release (that has been tested but poses a few bugs outlined below). View all the details from Habib nnouncement below:

BETA --- 4.75 HABIB (COBRA v7.10) v0.3

These beta have been taking place by joonie for a while, we thought to make this public beta since we both dont have pc access and we both are on holiday trips as well(what a coincidence).

Known bugs:
1. psx region bug(it might be fixed in v1.00 but we dont have pc access atm)
2. syscall 11 sc_ctrl is disabled(will be available in v1.00)

Now don't act selfish if you get these minor bugs which otherwise would've been ignored!(:p)

Bug Fixed since last habib 4.70 v1.03:
1. minor bug which enabled ps2 iso launcher on semi-bc and bc ps3 causing iso loading if ps2 iso is mounted and you are trying to play a ps2 classic/iso launcher(it could be counted as feature but...meh....)

HOW TO CHECK IF YOU NEED PS2 ISO LAUNCHER OR NOT:

All in all, this is the feature set:

  • [*=1]MADE OUT OF 4.75 OFW
    [*=1]COBRA v7.10 ADDED
    [*=1]INSTALL PACKAGE FILES AND APP_HOME
    [*=1]REACTPSN COMPATIBILITY

[*=1]SPECIAL PAYLOAD FOR COBRA TOGGLE IN LV2
[*=1]REMOVED CINAVIA DRM FOR HDD CONTENT
    [*=1]REMOVED CINAVIA FOR BDMV
    [*=1]REMOVED CINAVIA FOR BDVD
[*=1]QA FLAG ENABLED BY DEFAULT IF PS3 WAS QA ON 3.55
    [*=1]RSOD BYPASS
    [*=1]REMOTE PLAY FLAG NOT REQUIRED
[*=1]VSH SPEEDUP BY DISABLING EPILEPSY WARNING

Major thanks to @Joonie for porting cobra and testing the bug fix

Thanks to @STLcardsWS for the developers/mod section for letting us do private beta tests

Thanks to all the beta testers and all the developers who helped including @haxxxen , @aldostools , @littlebalup , @Orion and everyone

Change notes in V3 since the sample V2.
1. fixed the issue with ps2netemu working properly on BC consoles and Semi BC consoles, however
do not use ps2 classic launcher with mounted ISO as it will make issues on BC Consoles/Semi BC consoles.
Non-BC console users can ignore this as this does not affect the result.
2. Removed the unnecessary original ps2_netemu.self.swap for swapping as this is not needed anymore due to the change no.1
3. mysis's game_ext_plugin patch added to ignore SFO check for remote play4. Changed image version to 99999 to fix the issue with PUP installation on XMB
For some reason, it was impossible to install this CFW over previous HABIB 4.75 on BC/Semi-BC consoles
Changing the image version fixed the problem.

Change notes in V2 since the sample V1.

1. fixed the issue with pspiso playback due to missing hash checks for HABIB/FERROX in COBRA source
2. fixed the issue with category xml by replacing it with old one that was used in HABIB 4.70 COBRA 1.01
3. added debug payload for devs [dev_flash/sys/stage2.bin.debug], if you want to use this payload simply replace it with stage2.bin
otherwise stage1 inside lv2kernel won't mount the payload on boot.
4. disabled epilepsy message on boot, so it boots up faster

Didn't test it in WebMan edition as the fan noise was driving me crazy, lol, the ISO's were created from actual discs using geniso iirc, was ages ago when I did it. and I use ps3netsrv on the PC, oh and 1 more thing, the fans are constantly set to minimum with the non webman edition, had to remove the fb.xml file, seemed to fix it..

Edit:

downgraded back to 4.70 Cobra edition, ISO's work fine again..

What was the last working CFW with mmCM's nethost? I'm currently reviewing the changes see if that affected the result.

It would be nice if you also tell me the mmCM version,

Estwald fan control payload was used until webman 1.27, in 1.28 deank removed it due to known audio bug. If someone prefer old cooling method in webman, then source code is still available on deank server. Also after proper setting of current fan control mode PS3 shouldn't work like jet. If is loud almost from start then problem is in cooling system, not in payload.

What version of netsrv you are using?

Is impossible. fb.xml is just My Games column in xmb if i'm correct. So it has nothing to fan setting even on webman.

I think I got the issue fixed,, some changes in modulespatch.c currently fix the issue, I will update the binaries and let you guys know further.

Hi Joonie, any news on the psx region bug.

Thanks,
mm

I have been working on that bug, reverting the code back to its original can fix the issue with 800xxxxx error code on BC consoles,
but originally this psx video mode patch had its own bug as well,

KNOWN PROBLEMS

The PSX video problem. When the psx emulator is launched "naturally" by vsh.self, it sets the video mode parameters. This would cause NTSC games work badly on PAL, and viceversa.
But COBRA does a patch to avoid that, by forcing the video mode to be the same of the current psx game. Now the problem: in 3.55 this worked OK for everyone. But in 4.30, a tester and some users reported problems.
The patch still works for me though. The tester and me had same ps3 models, I used his xRegistry.sys file for testing, and yet I couldn't reproduce the issue. Only thing different was the TV...
Homebrew that launch directly PSX games don't suffer this problem, because this problem is caused by vsh. But mmCM returns to XMB after mounting a PSX iso game.

Sometimes, PSX CD-R and PS2 CD-R/DVD+-R are not detected by Cobra. This happens mainly on bad media and bad drives. Try to reboot with the disc inside, it may be detected.

Which was why we decided to work on this bug and actually new code works fine on non-BC consoles, but it creates another bug that breaks psx region bypass on BC/Semi-BC consoles.

Currently no solution to cover both problems has been found, it's either one way or another so far.

Hmmm...don't mean to ask too much but could a cfw of each flavor be made...so you pick what works for you?? At least that way both hardwares are sorta "fixed".

Thanks,
mm

That was the one of the options too, we could find a way to detect BC/Semi-BC and Non-BC consoles for this video mode fix, habib and I talked about this long ago [actually right before REBUG 4.70.1 release], I can't give you the exact date yet, but at least we are aware of the issue.

Amazing Work!!!! Looking forward to it.

Joonie Thanks for the public beta without webman. However, I just instaled it on a fresh downgraded Ps3 and the Habib QA toggle 4.21+ doesn't work on it. It has worked perfectly on all the other Cobra firmwares up to 4.70 but no go on this 4.75 Beta. I even tried 4 different controllers but the QA won't activate. Could you take a look?

Does that work on non cobra 4.75? I will take a look why it fails.

Yes it does, I installed the standard non cobra Habib 4.75 and the standalone 4.21+ QA worked like a charm.
Appreciate you taking a look why it fails on the Cobra version, since it saves time being able to do it right away on the prefered Cobra firmware.
Thanks for all your work, keep it up!

EDIT: Long rant deleted
EDIT 2: Long rant deleted
EDIT 3: Weeeirdest thing ever, all the problems I had with multiman giving me "debug mode" was due to the controller, somehow?? I switched to another one and suddenly Multiman works again, no more "debug mode" on startup and rebug toolbox works fine. Guess I'm giving Habib cobra 4.75 nowebman one more try haha

if you launch multiman while holding a certain button combo (which i think it's L2+R2 but i'm not sure) it will start in debug mode so maybe your controller is broken and it keeps pressing those buttons.

L2 & r2 are trigger buttons which sometimes can get dirty in the contacts or in the spring elasticity.
Just clean and/or substitute the springs.
At worst the contact rubber can be ripped and in that case it will more difficult to fix.

I confirmed the issue with current COBRA 7.1 port, it was due to syscall11 got blocked, now it works fine with changes, thanks for your report.

Oh definitely man as I have the upmost respect for all three of the "Musketeers" you guys have done so much for the scene. As well as the rest of the Rebug team.

Amazing Work!!!! Looking forward to it.

Can you tell me which games used to work on which FW? I'd appreciate if you be more specific that will help our research with this broken PSX region function

on my CECHE01, both Rogero 4.46 / habib 4.75 make issues with Crash Bandicoot 2 - Cortex Strikes Back (E) and Crash Bandicoot (E) (No EDC), however I can play Re-Volt with its original code,

COBRA thinks Re-volt EU version was NTSC and it let it played @ 60hz,
