Can I use the wifi/bluetooth modules of a fat on a slim?

Hi, I have a PS3 slim 3004B with the wifi/bluetooth module not working, and I can't update (error 8002F1F9).
The chip is soldered to the mainboard, and I don't want to replace it.

I also have a ps3 fat working very well: in this one, the chips are with the antennas.

May i use momentarily the antennas of the fat on my broken slim like in this video, or it is just a fake?

I don't want to damage the antennas of the fat. I only need to update the slim at hfw 4.84.
Thanks in advance

Thanks for the answer, i'm afraid to burn the working antennas of the fat...
how to contact sandungas? I get error when i click on his name.
Maybe someone has already tried this... I'll wait and hope for some report

I took the WiFi antenna from an old laptop and used it on my slim and it picked up better than the original one. If you're module is bad just using different antennas won't help the problem.

You can use the antenas but when is the chip dead i Will not help you. The antenas are only wires so tell me how could help you when you change the antenas. only repair is to change the chip. The antenas wont help. How in the **** has you trough it? Please help me.
And no you can not use the wifi module from fat in slim.

Now to be fair this isn't something that I've seen ask before and I'm sure for people that don't mess with things like this much could get confused when the guy in the video makes it sound like he is doing more than swapping the antenna.

Yes he can use antenas from fat on slim thats ok.but he gets a error code whats means he has dead wifi/bt and he thanks that he Will repair it just by swapping antenas.Thats odd.

I get what you're saying but with the info he had gotten from the video made it sound like the antenna was the the WiFi module.
Us knowing that the antenna isn't the module it does seem kinda silly thinking it would fix it but I can see why he was asking.

Correct.

Right, the antennas doesnt have much importance, actually you can disconnect them and use the PS3 normally without the antennas

And as @pink1 said you can replace the PS3 antennas because that connectors are standard, you can find antennas like that in laptops, routers, etc...
Actually, a lot of the old "dumb phones" (nokia, motorola, etc...) had that connectors at back to connect an optional antenna :D

So... is needed to replace the wifi/bt module @chicane
As a (free) ghetto atempt to fix it you can try to remove the metal shield covering the wifi/bt module (is soldered in the corners) to try to see if there is something burned inside it
The point is you can open it and use a multimeter to try luck... maybe is just a burned resistor or something easy to replace... but i can tell you the components inside the wifi/bt module are tiny... most probably you are not going to find the problem, but worth a try

Thanks sandungas, and thanks all guys.
Sadly i dont have the skills for use the multimeter or reball the chip. And this is too expensive to make it repair by a pro.
I'll leave this ps3 on a shelf with the hope, one day, of something like an hfw nobt or other possible solutions
Cheers, and thanks again

What is your current PS3 Firmware?

PS3 was on ofw 4.82, when i updated to ofw 4.84 it stopped installing at 60% (more or less) for error 8002F1F9
Same for hfw 4.84.
I can't come back to ofw 4.82
If i change the hard disk, it asks for firmware and it stops again for the same error
It can only load in loop the istallation

You can try to insist in installing 4.84
Sometimes the wifi/bt modules becomes unestables, only works for some minutes or works randomnly
So "justincase" the module starts working while the firmware is being installed (if you are very lucky) then the firmware installation will complete successfully

Is the kind of desperate attempt to try to fix it, the probability of success is minimal, but well... maybe works
So get some patience and try to install the firmware 100 times if needed (30 today, another 30 other day, etc...)

I guess as there is nothing else you can do and its a brick, you could try some random stuff like heating the wifi/blutooth chip/area up a bit with a heat gun, or even cooling it right down with something really cold from the freezer, its unlikely to work but possible that a different temp might help it work due to expanding contracting/better connection maybe, I dont know, If it was me I would even try putting some pressure on the chip while its updating.

You must understand one more thing HFW its just OFW with change only ONE "library" to alow exploit the Ps3 nothing more so its not a magical thing to repair your Ps3.

As devil303 has stated try the thing he mentioned. You can not love nothing at this point.

Thanks all, i'll keep trying with desperate attemps.
Cooling down and heatting up looks a good try.
I'll advice here if something works
