CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX)

PS3 CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX) -

So the bug is from Sony OFW?! I can't reproduce any of them
Only affects resolutions 272p (remote play), and 480p (for SD TVs), is explained in this thread, there is a download link in my post with the fixed files
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/4...the-firmware-update.37203/page-17#post-333560

At this point i think i undertood what happened (so im confident the way how i fixed them is correct), the files has not been tested though, so in theory are "release candidate" but we need someone to test them and confirm if all the problems are solved

Is it possible to install the Evilnat FW direct over Rebug FW? Or are there any prior steps needed?

best regards

If you're on Rebug CEX mode, you can install Evilnat 4.89 directly.
If you're on Rebug DEX mode, you first need to change to CEX mode.

BTW It is recommended to enable QA flags (if it isn't already enabled) to allow upgrade/downgrade to any version.

I will add the following in xai_plugin/CFW4.89.2 but I need a few days to test it:
  • Dump full RAM (256mb)
  • New icons/label to know if Cobra is enabled/disabled and cobra version release/debug is loaded
  • OtherOS
  • xai_plugin with support for 4.84.3 Rebug (Unofficial)

Hey man, what's up? Good to see you back. Thanks for all youur work, once again. How about adding that patch from haxxxen's mfw builder that allows third party controllers in recovery mode? It would be really helpful for the future when all official controllers start to die on us. Would you concider it for your .2 version?

thanks for the info....
BTW is there any advantage using Evilnat?
My PS3 runs perfect with Rebug

Your files completely fixed the remote play and the visual bugs at 480p.

You're a machine! thanks

If you have installed Cobra 8.3 and modded the XMB with latest xai_plugin + CFW Tools menu from Evilnat, then there are not much advantages, except for the login to PSN with standard methods.

Cobra 8.3 adds many new features & xai_plugin extends the CFW Tools menu to take advantage of most of the new features in 8.3. All these features are listed in OP.

@Evilnat it would be nice to include the exploitable webkit from 4.82 to allow to use ROP exploits using the browser.

Another feature easy to add is to include support for PKG Linker 2.0 in the Package Manager
Code:
<View id="seg_package_fixed">
<Items>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="hdd0_install" attr="hdd0_install" src="#seg_package_files_install"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="hdd0_delete" attr="hdd0_delete" src="#seg_package_files_delete"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="host_psn" attr="host_psn" src="#seg_install_files_psn"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="pkg_link0" src="xmb://localhost/dev_usb000/package_link.xml#package_link"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="pkg_link1" src="xmb://localhost/dev_usb001/package_link.xml#package_link"/>
<Query class="type:x-xmb/folder-pixmap" key="pkg_link2" src="xmb://localhost/dev_hdd0/game/PKGLINKER/USRDIR/package_link.xml#package_link_game"/>
</Items>
</View>

Finally, I attached a PKG for install easily the system files that fix the broken XMB display on 480p & 272p resolutions. It uses @sandungas fix posted by him here

is it possible to set a black theme like in 2.80?

and why are the loading icons not spinning on 4.89 evilnat CFW?

Try Ultimate Toolbox by DeViL303. It has lots of cool themes. I think there is one black like the one you want.

Can someone update versions with OC for RSX?
thanks for the awesome turnover rate... damn...
will the rsx 600/750 oc work correctly?
zecoxao posted an overclocked version of Evilnat 4.89 in this link:
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/p...tail-ps3-rsx-speeds.36801/page-17#post-333431

To fix the broken XMB on SD resolution, install the PKG with the files fixed by sandungas

AFAIK none unless you go online. If I understand correctly one of the last updates changed the PSN login process and simple version spoofs don't work anymore. Then again I personally wouldn't risk going online with CFW anyway. If you're only playing offline there's no need to upgrade, I don't think there are any games that require firmware versions higher than 4.84.

i had requested it in 4.88, but @bguerville recommended against it (he did not know who asked for it or why). i did not see the post in time to complain. :(

i wanted it for non-hen auto installers. i had to get a job so i haven't made any, but since @lmn7's scripts are public now, it would be nice to see it 4.89. :)

What's the point of being able to use the old exploits in CFWs?
If it's specific features you guys need, shouldn't you use homebrews?

honestly, a lot of what i was thinking about would work fine as pkgs.

some things would make sense though. the online installer for hen bt game audio could be complimented by a similar one for cfw.

one could be made to apply stuff like background photo, startup sound, and xmb wave to han, hen, or cfw using only one html.

Let me answer with another question: why limit the plugin with a security version patched by Sony?

Users can try old exploits for educational purposes and learn about how ROP work.

Obviously you're not among that group and don't need it... you belong to a AAA+ league :D

That stuff can/should be integrated into xai_plugin or deployed as PKG.
And if a handful of people wish to experiment, they can swap the sprx file with any file manager.

Generally speaking, except for Rebug which is a special case, it is preferable to avoid frankie firmwares, mixing build types and build versions, by default, CFWs users can apply their own customisations at will.
That's my view anyway, Nat is free to make his own choices of course.

Good night forum!
Do we have any news about bgtoolset for CFW 4.89?

Unfortunately I bought a PS3 slim where the seller updated the firmware before sending it to me.

I know you're working hard on this, but do you have any release dates?

Sorry for the translation!
