CFW PS3 turns off on while playing certain games

Hey guys! thank you for taking the time to read this. So I have this problem with an CECH-20xxx Slim PS3 in which I recently installed Rebug 4.82.1 Lite CFW, I downloaded some games to load them on Multiman v04.82.00 and two PSN games to install in the Internal HDD, games like Assassins creed Rogue, NFS Rivals, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure All Stars Battle (running in external) and Scott Pilgrim vs The World (installed in HDD) runs fine but games like CoD Ghost (also in external) and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon (also installed in HDD) make my PS3 turn off, I downloaded this last one twice from different sites and it stills turning off the console, I checked my PS3 for overheating but it feels normal, I noticed they turn off the moment you start shooting or something so I'm scared that I can't play FPS games with my CFW, does anybody had a similar problem or know how to solve it? Thank you.

what are your temps like? the ps3 crashing - that sometimes happens. if it's happening at the same point, it could be the backup. if you downloaded the game from a site, chances are that the backups are the same just repackaged by the uploader. backup games that you own and you won't have this problem. :)

I just check the temps superficially, I'm going to check them with Multiman later. CoD Ghost crashes in any game mode and Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon crashes a 3-5 secs after the gameplay starts, the problem is I don't own any of this two games, so I can't make a backup myself

Could be karma!? ;)

Pirates have no moral, so maybe they decided to turn on you, and f@#k up your console!? ;)

No seriously, check the temps, and don't pirate games. Buy them, back them up, play them. :)

@pinky I just noticed my temps go from 57°C to 73°C in a short time but if it's really overheating, shouldn't the other games have the same problem?

You are right, in my country buying a videogame results expensive but I'm aware that's not an excuse

I see, in which temps could my console be considered being overheating?

maybe in the high eighties. make sure you have a fan utility running with temp thresholds. 65-68 C is good. that's a little over 150-160 F I believe. I know 60 C is 140 F based on the 360, so it's somewhere around there. ;)

I've set mine to kick in at 70°C... My console shuts down at 75, even tho I changed paste and made a fan mod.

75? that doesn't sound right. in fact, @Joonie posted a pic of him playing some game and his rsx chip was in the eighties while the cpu was either in the fifties or sixties. I know there was a giant gap between them. I don't think he was using a fan app either, so I'm not sure what was going on. I'm sure the shut off temp is probably around 100 C.

75 degrees its not the best bet for it, i advise to go down to a 65/60 threshold, specially on a 2xxx series, since the RSX has a 65nm process.

My CECH01 60Gb had the same symptoms with original games such as FarCry4 and others, tendency to freeze and do nothing, before it YLOD

I always have my CECH-2504 at 35% fan with sMAN, sticking to 50/55 on the Cell and 58/60 on the RSX, with fresh paste inside, untouched IHS, because i wont risk to ruin, like i did to my 40Gb "smhhh".

Well it turned off at 85 before.. but it also randomly shit shit at idle xmb...

I cleaned it out, swapped the paste and drilled some holes in my housing for better airflow.. it runs smoothly since.. only time it even reaches 75-75°C is when I play games that are extremely demanding... :)

Well mine on stock got to a toasty 75º on the RSX, what was Sony thinking!?

But yeah, the 2000 series are quite problematic on the cooling department, as i mentioned before due to the 65nm RSX revision, as the 40Gb and 80Gb "Non-BC"

They only "fixed" the issue on the 21XX/25xx and Beyond, with the 45nm RSX and 45nm Cell, and in the 4XXX series they removed the heat-spreader in the RSX, which its even better

Sony learned by they're mistakes, as they removed the IHS completely in the PS4

60 is a bit low. compared with the 360, where that's recommended, the cell and the rsx chips are meant to run hotter. 65 is okay, but your system may sound like a jet engine with intensive games. ;)

Well Pinky,as they say, lower its better

85º its just too much for me, as well for the PC or any piece of device that needs proper cooling, makes them last longer

But the RSX and Cell where meant to run hotter, well perhaps, that depends in what thermal limit they designed these chips

There is no such thing as too low, or a temp that they are meant to run at. As low as you can get them is best.

Hey! I just wanted to say thanks for helping me with this topic, i haven't tried these games again (mostly because I feel guilty loading the backups now) but I just wanted to let you know that you're a really awesome community, I appreciate the quick replies and the info :)
