PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

sorry for this dumb question, but I just need to install the ps2config.pkg and it will affect all ps2 games with possiblem problems? Or I must do something else?

The PS2CONFIG.pkg is only needed for PS2 Classics. webMAN MOD always installs the PS2CONFIG database for PS2ISO (CFW).

The PS2CONFIG database is mainly used by webMAN MOD. It checks if the game needs a CONFIG when you mount a PS2 game.

I think ManaGunZ has its own PS2CONFIG database. For multiMAN and IRISMAN you need to add the CONFIG manually from https://ps3.aldostools.org/ps2config.html

let me confirm if I understood it right

If I have cfw and use PS2ISO I just need install webmanmod and the ps2config are included there and I don´t need the PS2Config.pkg.

If I have HEN and need the placeholders I must instal the PKG PS2Config, after this, I don´t need to do anything else?

Use HxD or any other hex editor of your preference. The CONFIG files use binary codes.

Thank you as that is what I was wondering! I'm about to dive in a bit more to PS2 on PS3 and was wondering if it was indeed binary as a quick open with N++ failed. Already have HxD but asked as I won't have access to my PC for a few more days in order to check.

Thanks again!

For PS2 ISO on CFW you don't need to do anything extra. Just install webMAN MOD, put the PS2 ISOs in /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO, scan and mount them.

On HEN, you need to install PS2CONFIG.pkg, PS2 Classics launcher, webMAN MOD, put the encrypted games in .BIN.ENC format in /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO, scan and mount them.

The reason of the extra steps is that the database of encrypted configs is very large, and it would make the webMAN installer too big.

GT3 PAL (tested on PS3 Late Slim) has some weird jittering issues and everything looks aliased.

Performance isn't too bad, but the constant visual jittering during races is annoying.

Dunno if there's a fix.

In some games the jittering can be diminished by going to the emulator debug menu and setting vsync delay to NO IPU normal, aggressive or a custom positive value let's say 150 000, but it seems to cost FPS the higher you set it.
Dropship also has that jitter and Ace combat games.

Rough patch to fix the loading freezes and Goddard softlock. PAL version is untested, but the accuracy range is big enoguh so hopefully it fixes it. The softlock takes a good chunk of time to test so...

Hi Agrippa , just want to know if someone have news/update about a possible fix for DRIV3R (driver 3) on PS2 ?

would forcing 480i output help with deinterlacing problems like in klonoa 2?
Can dark cloud 2 graphics problems be fixed?
No, deinterlacing is not the problem. What you're referring to happens in field rendered games when netemu has too much on its plate (generally, too much VU stuff to handle). I've hypothesized that netemu dynamically uses EE cycle skipping when it needs to. For this same reason, both field and frame rendered games will slow down to half speed when reaching a certain cycle skipping threshold. You will see similar results if you crank up PCSX2's EE cycle skipping in these games.

What's the issue with Dark Cloud 2?

some graphic glitches, then I can send a print screen.

The other day i was brainstorming about how to increase the number of configs embedded inside ps2_gxemu.self
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/cechc-e.36951/#post-329138

Today @kozarovv published a patch in wiki to do it by shorting the length of some data fields :)
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/index.php?title=Talk:PS2_Emulation&curid=9649&diff=66416&oldid=66318

As far i understand kozarovv patch allows to increase the number of "titleid" of the list in around 50%... lets say... we can add the titleid of new games and force them to load the same config data from the same exact offset, this way we are increasing the total number of titleid's in the list without modifying the config data that already exists
But as we mentioned, to complete this hack is needed a new tool to rebuild the table where are stored the configs, this is the only way to add new config data, but this kind of tool doesnt exists yet, so hold your horses and dont get hyped, this still needs to be labeled as something experimental but is an step in the right direction :encouragement:

EDIT:
And btw... i guess this same trick should work in the official PS1 emulators

Disables blur effect to fix screen flickering and frame rate issues. Minor flickering can still happen in The Chikyuu Boueigun 2/Global Defence Force but to a much lesser degree.

94 F0 05 0C 00 00 00 00
Disables car shadows and fog to fix slowdown. The slowdown is largely gone, especially on the foggy tracks, but there can still be some screen jitter for short periods of time. The first two patches in NTSC-U version affect v1.00 of the game while the last two affect v2.00. Tested only NTSC-U v2.00 and PAL.

EDIT: Forgot NTSC-U had a GX config, so added that command back. I tested *without* this command and I am not sure what it is doing besides affecting something on the IOP.
