Format ps3 and act.dat

So it sounds like I need to use the rif2rap tool to convert them with my act.dat I used to download it with then yea?
Last time I tried to use rif2rap, I failed and I think you have to do it one at a time?

yes, and ur idps. do u know what error (if any) u got?

Ooo I can't remember to be honest, think I tried it on a dlc so the game would just freeze when loading game data. im going to try this rif2rap tomorrow on a psn game to see if it works. il let you guys know how it goes.

to get PROPER .raps you need idps (from the ps3 where you get the stuff from psn!) + .rifs and the act.dat that is IN THE SAME FOLDER as the .rifs...

you can get the idps from multiman...is listed like 00000001008500xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx...use a hex editor to make the file and save it as "idps" (no extension)...

p.s. if you still can't get PROPER .raps contact me with a PM and i will dump them for you...

sounds like a corrupted game or dlc. some games/dlc have a toc which is read when the game is loaded. infinite loading is a result of missing or corrupted files. I believe that's y @aldostools game ripper creates a 0 byte file to replace file(s) that r deleted.

pinky is it not actually possible to copy the rifs manually in their folder on the PS3?

if u mean copying them to ur laptop/pc before changing hdds or reformatting, I believe so. I've never tried it. from what I understand, the ps3 is a lot like the 360 in terms that they both have a device id (idps), so they system shouldn't know the difference. though, iirc, the 360 uses a device id based on the hdd rather than the system. if u were to upload the game for piracy say, u'd have to be signed in to xbox live using the same profile that bought the game. people were doing that with the 360 as well as the ps4 (I believe). people on the 360 got banned. it's pretty obvious something fishy is going on when multiple people r signed in as the same profile much like the same idps. :-P

I seem to remember making a backup of my exdata files & restoring them manually without psnpatch/reActPSN....
To be confirmed of course but iirc it works..

that should work, yes. I've been thinking of @bitsbubba . I went to his house as a math tutor, but he had other things in mind. I kept swatting off his advances, but he wouldn't take no for an answer. he's a dirty boy...

I hope I've entertained u all for the night. ;) it's time for pinky sleep, so I'll wish u all cuggles (cuddles and hugs together). ;)

OMFG IT WORKS!!!
THANK YOU Pinky, Bguerville, catalinnc and Berion. thank you all so much. been trying this for ages. think i was putting in the wrong idps last year and gave up.
do i need to do anything with the old EDAT i have? i have 3 'game purchase.edat' in this one exdata folder...
i also have an act.dat1 - does that mean anything?

thanks you all so much <3

act.dat1 must be a backup made when a modification of the file took place.
Your edat files can be copied directly into the /home/xxxx/exdata folder I believe. Otherwise use psnpatch to install those.

To avoid all this resigning stuff, it's easier to just replacing xRegistry.sys where are all NP Account IDs and other per user stuff. I have do this many times and always everything is properly recognized as mine. Also I never making backup of whole HDD content because it is pointless (only saves, vmcs, licenses, trophies and games).

Of course it's inevitable if You want merge contents but I saw that always all peoples which moving to other console, resigning data instead just filling proper ID's in system settings file and just copy needed files...

PS: *.act1 isn't created by CellOS but by reactpsn. Also take note that reactpsn can corrupt Your xRegistry.sys (it happened to me once >> BSOD) so remember to make backup of this file which in such case You would restore it in "dev_flash2/etc/" and "dev_flash2/etc/backup/" (two at once because console will use the one from backup subdir).

the xregistry corruption is probably caused by the renaming xxxrif, xxxedat. the xregistry contains the profile names, and reactpsn changes the name to reflect the number of licenses installed. that, and the fact that 'aa' is changed as well. however, u can keep a second aa profile and never have to rename reactpsn back. fortunately, it's never corrupted my xregistry. it could be like fakeanim on the 360 in which it's corrupted some people's NANDs for some reason. fortunately, again, that's never happened to me. could be people deleting the bootanim.xex which I don't recommend. it won't let u change flash names on FSD2 which is what I use, so I just transferred the xex over, renamed it, deleted the original, and ftp'd back over. :-P now, back on to topic...

How can i fix an Eboot? i've downloaded duke nukem 3d megaton edition but it boots to black screen... :(
Sorry but before helping you with this issue of how to fix an eboot, I must ask. Where you have downloaded it from?
I was under the impression that the game had been removed from the PSN store months ago....??
If it does not come from PSN, the issue could come from various things, including the eboot or other files being patched/modified..
What the game id? NPXXxxxxx?....
Also this is the wrong thread for such a question. OT

The issue could come from various things, including the eboot being already patched..

Sorry, I searched for a thread and couldn't see a 'post new thread' anywhere.
I downloaded it from ***PlayStation Store***, validated the package and installed the rap file. figured it requires a later firmware to run? I'm on 4.46

Ok don't be sorry, it's alright, just think about doing it next time. [emoji5]️
You should look again though. If you are logged in, there is a big post thread button when you are at the root of a forum. You cannot miss it.

Anyway regarding the game you downloaded, am not sure I can help you because downloading games from ***PlayStation Store*** is piracy. It's against the rules.
In this particular case however, Duke Nukem having been removed from the PSN Store in the US, that may change things. However I dunno if it's still for sale in other PSN store somewhere in the world so...

@STLcardsWS @bitsbubba @Tranced ??
Any advice here on this situation....

Ok, I looked again and I still can't see it.. Maybe it's not a mobile friendly site?
And just out of interest, how can I fix an Eboot, this applys almost game updates.. I know multiman can do this but how can you do it manually.
Also I think Duke Nukem has been completely removed

If the Package is untouched, You would install it on any fw version. So this cover games and also updates. You don't need "fix" (resign...) anything in this case. If executable/container is signed to newer fw You must resign it to lower, but today I don't see a reason to do that... Just install Rebug 4.80.1 and everything will just work.

I have no idea if your eboot needs resigned or not, I have not looked for that information but I can tell you this as you asked.

Many fix/patch game features only patch the param.sfo minimum fw version to put a lower value but don't resign the eboot.

But sometimes eboots need to be resigned, for example games released before 2009, pre 3.55 days, without updates or if you don't want to apply any updates, will not work on 4.xx.
There are 2 easy ways to fix this.

1. On the PS3, launch Managunz & use the menu for the game. Use the resign option. Of course this does not work on a PSN game.

2. On the PC, you can use those tools PC Tools Collection, Trueancestor Pkg Rebuilder & Self Resigner or E/S/S/E Resigner.
In each case, the process is the same, extract the pkg, resign the eboot, rebuild the pkg.
