PS2 Hacking the PS2

hmm...if your modchip has a recovery mode, maybe you should try reflashing it. the matrix infinity has one of these for example using a vga and it resulting in a black screen. that's just a wild guess.

after all,I get my ps3 after 11 days yesterday,I return my ps2 scph-50001/N from servicing for modchip installation modchip is Cheakisy it works all of disc PS2 DVD-R & CD-R PS1 CD-R it costs only 44.97$ USD for modchip today,I'm very happy because I have two consoles one's ps2 fat & other's ps3 super slim hen
my ps2 everything is work with smoothly twice reset for ps1 cd-r disc
my ps2's total cost 74.56 United States Dollar with modchip

I don't want to ruin your parade, but...
Don't get me wrong but you could have gotten 15(!!!)Modbo4 or 5 for that price! O.o

I got a 50k from trash (DVD-Tray was stuck with a Jimmi Neutron DVD, lol) pressed maybe 10 times open close after another and it opened and I never had a problem with it since.
Normal price is around the 25-30€ with a controller usually!

The only thing which still makes this price still fine is the HDD-Adapter, especially if it is an original one from Sony...

HDD... Well... You can rip one from an old PC.

...and FMCB/FHDB would have given you way more and better features than that chip AND FOR FREE(!), if it really only supports booting backups!

I installed modchip because I have 70-80 pieces ps2 disc so........
Anyway modchip is very important for any ps2 because only cheapest disc DVD-R & CD-R

Since you probably also use cheap-ass discs for your cheap-ass downloaded game-rips, your laser will probably not work anymore quite soon anyway...

Regarding a PC: You don't even need to buy one... A PC from 1999 would be enough to pull the stuff off... (even 1995, but that's a bit extreme)

Regarding your modchip, which seemingly doesn't support anything beside 'ba(hahaha)ckups':

You could have spared a lot of money, just doing it via FMCB +OPL and an HDD...
You even would have had the money to actually buy some games!

Yes... You have some crappy cheap discs, which are worth NOTHING! How much does a DVD-R-Spindle with 100 discs cost? Pfff...

Sorry, I can't help you anymore regarding this...

Unfortunately PS2 laser lens really do not like low quality disc...
They have a problem with reading them, sometimes disk read error may occur...
Etc.

Yes, those often put more strain on the laser, just like badly burned discs, etc.

Btw.: I edited my previous reply and added a bit more (before I had seen the like).

I have some ps2 cd-r disc
these cd-r are burn speed max using imgburn from laptop
does these ps2 cd-r cause on laser lens ?

Hi guys! I've been trying to hack my PS2 slim and I'm able to get into the Free McBoot installer. When I try to do either a normal or multi install it gets to "Decrypting DVDELF" then "Signing DVDELF for Memory Card 1" and then a red x pops up next to that last line and "Error during FreeMcBoot install..." shows up as well.
What can I do to fix this? Thanks!

Is it an official SONY memory card?
What is the size?
Which freemcboot package did you download and from where?
Did you place the DVDELF.BIN in the INJECT folder?

Well, I bought a 64 MB one off of Amazon and it turned out to not to be an official brand one. I got the noob package from a website that I found for the FMCBoot Installer, but then I tried downloading another version of it and that one said "Could not bind MagicGate to MC" or something similar. So then I decided to actually examine my memory card and yep, it had no logo or anything on it haha.

So I backed up my save files off my very old 8 MB official Sony memory card to a flash drive and transferred them to my computer as well as this fake 64 MB memory card. Then I did an install of FMCB and it worked on the 8 MB one!! I got everything set up and just now I tried out the network share process for games and everything's working perfectly! I'm literally giddy about finally being able to play Xenosaga Episode 1 on the actual console and it runs amazingly well! No problems at all!

Also, I found a package of DVDPLU, DVDPRU, ... files and tried renaming one of them according to my region. It found it in the install process but I still hadn't found out about my fake memory card so it ended up still not working. In the end when I actually did put FMCB, I just left the folder blank and it worked.

Well, that is the reason I asked you if it is an Official or a Fake one. The official one's come with Magicgate encryption, but the fake one's don't so FMCB does not work on them.
