PS3HEN How do you install RAP files with HEN?

I've been doing the process where I load RAP and PKG files to a USB stick and then use the package installer from the XMB to get the content on my system by "Installing..."

Is it possible to skip this by following what you said above? Just simply dumping the RAP files in /dev_hdd0/exdata ? What about the PKG file, is there a spot for that?

And then when I launch the title that this DLC is associated with, it will automatically convert all the RAPs?
During an official PSN (npdrm) game installation, the game pkg gets installed & separately a rif license file is generated using the official rap file for that game + the act.dat/idps & copied to your current user profile.
When you don't use the PSN services but instead perform a manual installation of the game pkg, you must also install the license manually to complete the installation process, as without it the game will never be able to launch successfully.

There are 3 common ways to create a rif license for a PSN game in pkg format.
1. Manually on PC using the game rap file, the user profile's act.dat & the console idps then copying the generated rif into the appropriate user profile folder.
2. Use a ps3 homebrew tool like psnpatch or the CFW Tools in Evilnat 4.88.2 to generate rif files from every rap file it finds on USB & copy the rif files to the user profile folder, all at the press of a pad button.
3. Use the new Cobra/Mamba/HEN feature that creates a valid rif license file on the fly whenever you launch a PSN game (only if an appropriate rap file is available), the rap files used to generate the rif licenses being kept in a dedicated folder on the internal hdd or on USB.

Note that while the fake act.dat is perfectly fine to install your PSN games & play them without having to use PSN at all, it's not the same as an official act.dat, it should not be viewed as a fully valid replacement but more like a workaround allowing the console to remain offline (from PSN) & not depend on PSN to manage your npdrm game installations.

I think my bigger issue is installing all the individual .pkg files. In my case I'm installing Rock Band DLC, so I have hundreds of PKG files that I'm trying not to have to individually select. Is this possible at all, or is the only way by going through the 'Package Installer' on the XMB one by one?

Place your pkgs on the root of your device, press triangle over "Standard Installation" in Package Manager, and select "Install All Packages". Joonie found a way to run that option in HAN without enabling QA flags. The fix should be included in HEN.

If you need to queue packages larger than 4gb, build a data ISO (ISO-9660 Level 3) with all the packages in the root folder, mount it with Irisman (or the homebrew of your choice) as a Blu-Ray, and again go to standard installation under package manager and select "Install All Packages".

So, root of my device and not the /packages/ folder? Also I am now on Evilnat CFW 4.88 instead of HEN.

I have 16GB of packages, but none of them are more than 4GB individually. Do I need to follow that process? If so, could I alternatively just do a quarter of these at a time?

Thanks! Might have saved me a ton of time.

Well, this thread is meant for HEN. But, given that you're on CFW, you'll need have QA flags enabled. You can enable them in Evilnat CFW from the CFW Tools menu under the network tab (if you can't find the option, see the release post of the CFW for instructions). You'll need to reboot your console for the change to take effect.

Yes, the root of your device, otherwise it won't work.

No, building an ISO only applies to batches having individual packages with a size greater than 4gb. You should be fine installing your packages.

Just a note: Given that this thread is about rap files and HEN, and you're asking about packages and CFW, your post is tad off-topic. In the future, it might be best to find a better thread or to start a new one (just so that all the posts in a given thread are about a single topic, and thus easier to browse for info in the future).

Sorry about that, I did certainly turn a few corners in here since my original post. I appreciate your help nonetheless, I think that should sort me out.
