ManaGunZ

PS3 ManaGunZ - PS3 Backup Manager by Zar v1.41

okey, but when i apply a config i need to delete the previous one to try another?or will the game run 2 configs at the same time?

You must overwrite manually the existing CONFIG in /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO
Only 1 config can be used per game. If it doesn't exist in PS2ISO, create one (to avoid webMAN MOD choose one automatically)

Is there a version of Managunz available where the create pkg shortcut is still a feature and works fully? Im guessing that there must have been issues for it to have been removed but was there a version with a close to complete compatibility that i can install?

In managunz there is a menu intended to manage the configs, and even allows to create custom configs by adding new commands in them with some button presses

At bottom of that screen there is a "taskbar" that shows the buttons you can use... with one of them (dont remember right now which one) you are setting the config as "active"
What managunz is doing internally when you set the config as "active" is to overwrite the config file next to the ISO
From that point, the ps2 emu is going to load the new config automatically

Im telling this also because there is some people that uses managunz to prepare the config (to overwrite the previous config, or to edit it adding more commands in it, etc)... but later they uses webman to boot the game
In other words... the way how the config files are copyed next to the iso or overwritten by managunz and webman are compatibles with each other... the changes you do with the ps2 configs in one of them applyes to the other

It was removed in v1.36 so if you really want to use that feature you need to use managunz v1.35 or older https://github.com/Zarh/ManaGunZ/releases
I was using it for a time and was working fine with the PS3 games i was trying

The other option is to wait and see if zar reimplements it in some of the next managunz versions, in the release notes of managunz v1.36 when the feature was removed zar shown his intention of reviewing it at some point
Remove : I removed "Shortcut pkg" option because it's broken. I'll fix it later.

Ops, almost forgot to mention it...
Managunz v1.35 (the last version where the "create shortcut pkg" was available) only works fine in firmware 4.84 or older, so...
If you have a cfw PS3 with firmware 4.84 or older then is ok... is going to work fine
If you have a cfw PS3 in 4.86 or 4.87 then you could enable the QA flag to downgrade to 4.84

Otherway... if you have a PS3 running HEN... simply dont try it... that managunz versions was published before HEN and was not identifying HEN correctly... as a consequence there was several features of managunz not working, causing freezes, crashes, etc... that old versions of managunz without HEN support are going to be very inestables if you run them on HEN... not really worthy

Infinite loading screen
When opening: dev_hdd0/game/RETROARCH/USRDIR/assets/branding/retroarch_bg.png

The contents of that folder are the same than in this link https://github.com/libretro/retroarch-assets/tree/master/branding
The image retroarch_bg.png is 1920x1080, and 2.44 MB

Managunz doesnt freezes or crashes... but it display that circle icon at top right corner indicating that is "loading" the image, and the bullet moving around indefinitivelly, i was waiting some minutes to see it it completes the loading eventually, but nothing... the only we can do is to press "PS" button in the Dualshock3 and select ---> Quit game

Btw @Crystal that folder named "branding" can be removed from the retroarch PKG release, are around 10MB recovered, not much but everything counts and i really think retroarch is not loading that files at any point

Has anybody else had ManaGunZ freezes when trying to mount game or open game options. I'm using 4.87 FERROX COBRA 8.20. I have never used ManaGunZ before.

Hello @Zar. You probably don't remember, but a while ago I reported not being able to use sprx mod menus when using ManaGunZ (unless having previously installed multiMAN). At long last, I've found a solution! Using the "Resign EBOOT" option in the file manager allows the menus to be loaded again. I figured I'd share this info with you, just in-case you were looking for a solution/non-existent bug.

Can you tell me on which EBOOT did you use this ? /dev_hdd0/game/MANAGUNZ0/USRDIR/EBOOT.BIN ?

When you installed mulitman, you hadn't this issue ? if yes maybe the issue can be fixed by using 'fix permission' on the eboot, Can you try (with the original EBOOT + fix permission) ?

I already tried that and it didn't seem to do anything. Tomorrow, I'll compare the original eboot, managunz resigned one, and original one after installing and opening multiman. I'll let you know if I notice any patterns between the 3.

EDIT: this isn't unique to ManaGunZ. The same "bug" happens with every backup manager I've ever used (except multiMAN). I guess I just noticed this because I only install homebrew I need*, and I format my PS3 often.

*by this I'm referring to the fact that it's quite common for people to have multiple backup managers installed at one time, so naturally they would never notice the "bug".

Well, the fact that the problem was solved by resigning the eboot means that the problem was in the eboot (incase the eboot was not original)
Or in the sprx you are using for modding that game because is not compatible with the original eboot (incase the eboot was original)

The backup managers doesnt have a bug related with that, the reason why it works in multiman probably is because multiman is resigning the eboot and you are not noticing when it happens

Here to report that none of the configs from the game :
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 Work, had to manually download the config from the database.

Are you talking about a custom config ?, please always mention the name and the ID when reporting problems of a specific game, as example:
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2005 (SLUS12345)

There is literally only one version of this game with config avaliable.

And yes none of the configs avaliable on managunz worked:soft,gx,custom.

Dowloading custom config from aldostool fixed the game.
