ManaGunZ

PS3 ManaGunZ - PS3 Backup Manager by Zar v1.41

@Zar one more thing. I found a interesting bug.

I'm using the dump Champions of Norrath (USA) [SLUS20565].iso that has the MD5 35c9feb77a5d0927286938c83ff71a3d verified by redump and by ManagunZ. The game is a DVD9 one.
When I got to ManagunZ Game Menu to try to enable the Widescreen, the option is not there. I checked the ws.zip file inside MANAGUNZ0/USRDIR/sys and the game pnach is there (90E66BC5).

My guess is because the game is DVD9 and ManagunZ is not detecting it well because of it's size. And that's why when you try to verify the dump with ManagunZ, when the result is valid it displays VALID? (where the last character can be ? or any other).

what is the CRC calculated by managunz ? You can go to properties to see it.

the '?' is a carbage character generated by the txt viewer... I have no idea why it's here, sometimes I think it's fixed...and then weeks later it comes back. Long story short, it's a bug, it's not supposed to exist...

Yup, I rechecked here. It also matches.
Edit: Properties in ManagunZ? WAIT the redump / MD5 check matches... the ELF CRC doesn't it is 90E60FA4. While the PNATCH is 90E66BC5 in ws.zip.

...It's something you asked long time ago...
...I though it was too complicated...
...I think you'll love it...
Too much hints (and one more from something you wrote few days ago), i think i know what is it  but im not going to mention it incase im wrong to dont hype myself :D

Thats the right way to check it lambada, the hash of the game ISO/BIN needs to match with the filenames inside ws.zip
Incase they doesnt matches managunz is not going to show you the option to apply them

Take a look at this collection to see if there is some that matches https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-PCSX2-Widescreen-Game-Patches?pid=271674#pid271674

-----------
And forget about the last "phantom" character/s of the "text viewer"
Managunz is using a "text viewer" to show the result of the file hashing checks... what you see is not a file but it falls into the same problem
If you use the filemanager to open a .TXT or an .XML in the "txt viewer" you are going to see the same problem
If at some point you have a doubt about it and want a confirmation... you could try to calculate the hash several times (and most probably the phantom character will be different because is semi-random as far i rememer)

I can't understand why the MD5 is the same, so the dump is valid but in ManagunZ the ELF CRC is 90E60FA4, which is different from what is in PCSX2: 90E66BC5.
To verify the ELF CRC I checked the same ISO in ManagunZ and in PCSX2. The CRC in PCSX2 is the one in ws.zip (ManagunZ) and in ws_cheats.zip (pcsx2).

In my previous post i said the widescreen patches are "applicable" if they matches with the hash of the ISO/BIN but is the hash of the ELF (inside the ISO) sorry

In managunz filemanager you chan check the hash of the ISO/BIN... but as far i remember you can extract the ELF (to a working directory) and check the hash of it too

Or by pressing triangle over the PS2 game icon... and the option "game info", it displays a list with info, included the ELF CRC (original and/or modifyed as two different infos used to "unpatch" it)

Dunno, maybe you have an special edition of the game

But you see, if my dump has the same ISO/BIN MD5 of redump.org and the ELF CRC is the same as the one in PCSX2 widescreen database, there is no way of my game being special edition. And more weird yet is that my ISO/BIN in Managunz has the same CRC as well. How it all has the same and valid CRC for a dump and one single file that is INSIDE the ISO/BIN is different... and only in Managunz =P
That's why my best guess is that DVD9 (dual layer) games (that are rare in PS2) aren't being correctly checked / scanned for patches.

PS: I will try to install an old Managunz... maybe in the past it worked, I'm not sure but maybe, if yes the bug may appeared in a later version of Managunz.

ok, it's fixed for the next update.
The function I used was incorrect for ELF without 4 bytes aligned, it's completely my mistake.

I remember perfectly when I wrote the function to calculated the ELF CRC, I didn't understood the original function from pcsx2.
So, I re-wrote it, to something more "readable" for me....and it caused this issue.
Now, with a little bit more experience the function they wrote is quite simple, and it's astonish me I didn't understand it. It prouves I improved a little bit ;)

By the way I do not recommend using a widescreen patch for the Snowblind Engine games in general. First of all, it is basically a cheat for this kind, fixed perspective, games. You are allowed to see more than it was intended. Ironically, a vert- widescreen option would be better here. Second of all, the overall performance of the game is affected and a frame rate drops could happen more often. Even though the Champions series has got a unique feature that switches to the progressive mode when the target frame rate could not be maintained (and switches back to the interlaced mode when it could, that is why there is a flash of the previous frame in the buffer after the transition).

Thanks for your tip and details of how Champions of Norrath works @Agrippa .
I already finished the game, tbh. I was just trying to understand why the Widescreen wasn't working and then I concluded it was a bug that I wanted to report to ManagunZ as it could affect other games as well.

@Zar I have another request/suggestion for your most excellent loader/dumper.

I wondered if you could add an option in the file manager to mount any iso (like data discs) including bin/cue for maybe psx and music CD ripping.
I would like to rip music using my system itself but it cannot read CD's or DVD's, only Blu-Ray's.

@60fpshacksrock
try the pre-release : https://github.com/Zarh/ManaGunZ/releases/tag/1.41
You can already mount any iso in the file manager.

I'll add the dumper option in FileManager, it's a good idea.

@Zar
That is the version I am using, but thanks anyway.
Also thank you for the Blu-Ray movie dumping option I saw in the commits section.

I tried to mount a DVD-movie ISO and there is no option that I see to do that.
Is ISO mounting folder-specific? My disc image is in the DVDISO folder.
I tried it with this version using the file manager built in. For the standalone file manager I am still using 1.38 because newer stand-alone version have a high probability of crashing the system when exiting using the circle button method.

These options is available when you select an iso.
I didn't though about a folder, sry. I'll try to make it working with folders.

I'm working on the crashes. I don't have them so it's little bit hard to find the cause, but I think I'm close :p

What I meant by folders, is if say the folder must be like PS3ISO or PS2ISO is this the only way mounting can work or can it work any iso in any folder. It doesn't appear for me when I try to mount my DVD ISO.

Changelog:
Add : Flow3D setting to align game boxes.
Im thinking in this setting and there are some details that comes to mind that worths to be mentioned. First thing i would like to ask is to implement it in Flow2D too, it will look fine in both

Not sure in how many ways you are going to allow to align them, but basically... the actual alignment is "to center"... and what i would like to have is an aligment "to bottom border"
You know... the goal is to be able to create themes with a background that creates the visual effect like if the games/cases was standing on top of a surface... or inside a glass showcase... or inside "slots" in a wall... etc...
A bit like the "media cabinet" themes of multiman

I think that setting should be checked and applyed when we install a theme... lets say... is someone makes a Flow2D/Flow3D theme requiring that "alignment to bottom" of the game covers/case is could be handy to apply it when we "enable" the theme... (by loading it from the configuration file of the themes, colorset.ini)

Otherway... if you dont have the motivation to implement all this details now i would align them to bottom by default... this way the kind of themes im talking about would be aligned correctly by default... and for the people that doesnt uses that kind of themes or doesnt likes the alignment to bottom they can change it with the new setting

And another btw... i think is better to change the name of the colorset.ini to something more generic (lets say... theme.ini ?)
It was originally intended to store color settings only, but later was used to store other stuff not related with colors, and i still have a pretty cool idea for the replica zero theme that requires to store a new setting in the colorset.ini to swap the colors (using the color filter functions) "by month"... you know in the same way is made in the official XMB
Basically, we need to add a list in the colorset.ini with 12 color filters that are going to be selected based on the system date and we need to group them under the name "by month"... and is needed also an option in MGZ settings screen to select it "by month"
Dunno... is just an idea im just throwing because im confident it will look fine, i dont have the images ready but i was doing some experiments and the result was aceptable
