Need help getting XMB menu back

I have Rebug 4.81.2 and I was messing around with ToolBox trying to fix the PSN error. I disabled some settings and after the reboot the XMB menu is not displaying. Rebooted so many time and nothing. I tried to restore it from safe mode didn't do much and it freezes. Tried to reinstall rebug using safe mode and was greated with "no applicable update data was found". I tried 4 different sticks, formatted to FAT32, put the firmware inside PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP . Verified the known extension... Nothing happening.

What should I do now?

Try a different PUP, like Ferrox 4.82, then install latest Rebug when back on the XMB.

did you convert to DEX? If you converted to DEX then when trying to re-install FW from safe mode you need to be using the D-REX PUP or it won't see the FW.

Yay, that worked. I don't know what the difference between DEX and D-REX is!! Can I insert DEX PUP and update as normal?

I think you have to convert to cex via rebug toolbox.

within Rebug Toolbox select Rewrite Target ID in Flash (in CEX/DEX column) and it will return you to CEX (REX)
