For mass effect 3 PSN US NPUB version, the extended cut DLC doesnt have a rap file, will it work if i just run it with the resigner and install it on my ps3? Its a free dlc but i dont know what version the store downloads for me and there is no way to check if it dlc is active ingame till i reach the end.

Free license. No rap required.
Just resign pkg and install

Ok, it probably is the right one then.
Hey, I just wanted to say that I think I found the reason for my problems
Basically my PS3's BD drive ribbon cable broke (this is why I'm trying to mod it), and after doing some research I found out that the PS3 refuses to run anything if the BD drive is disconnected...
So yeah... Thank you so much for the help anyways

I just wanted to add to this tutorial. It might be nice if the PS2 Classics converter had the option to include a .pnach file (which contains code that makes the game playable in widescreen 16:9) I just thought about it recently and started converting my own games so they are 16:9, and not stretched, which they look horrible. How I wish I knew about that in the first place so I don't waste my time installing them for a second time.

If they added the option to include a CONFIG file for any game, why not adding this? it would be a nice addition, since there are widescreen patches for almost every ps2 game, specially the good titles.

I don't know if this is the same thing but you can edit the param.sfo to allow for 16:9 wide-screen.

I don't know how this works though or if it is even the same thing as pnach

Going from 16:9-4:3 makes sense to me,

So is this actually adding rendered space on the screen or is this stretching to fit the screen?
Like this,

I would hope its not stretching the image because the ps3 already has this feature.. Not to mention that method makes yodas head look flattened outXD

The param SFO editor doesn't add true widescreen to the games, only stretches them to 16:9. Here's the difference when you apply a pnach patch file to a ISO.

I just found out this weekend about these patches, some guy named pelvicthrustman created a set of tools to modify PS2 ISOs in a variety of ways, and among them was a tool called PS2 Patch Engine, which was the one I used to use said patch files on my ISOs. So I decided to give it a go and see if any patched game would work as a PS2 Classics pkg file on the PS3, and yes it did, and the results are pretty awesome.

I'll look into this and add to guide at some point. Thanks for bringing this up

I'm having an issue when trying to install the han toolbox, walked through all steps, downloaded newest file(also tried with 0.4) copied to USB, in the right slot, enabled han, select toolbox pkg and instead of normal install page I get several flashes of the installation page trying to work until it ends with a failure to install error
8001002C, too many files open. Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix it?

Please bear with me, i just started using HAN and i tried to read up as much as possible, this is my experience so far:
- Jetpack Joyride pkg + rap + resigned = PSN game test worked fine
- Child of Light pkg + Update pkg + edat unlock pkg + resigned = c00 game test resulted in "not a full game" (i did not download the demo on PSN cause i already have the pkgs)

Do c00 games really need to be downloaded from PSN directly to work after resigning/installing the edat unlock pkg?, i tried it on Limbo as well, i installed the resigned game pkg and edat unlock pkg and it's still not a full game, i'm thinking i'll just use the pkg + rap combo on c00 games instead of using the edat unlock since i have to download them again anyway on PSN cause i already have the pkgs

Hey man, I just made an account on here just to thank you.(As well as the excellent team that worked on this project!)
I've been up all night following this very detailed tutorial, and without fail, successfully installed my first PSX backup!
The internet could truly use more people like you.

I apologize for all the ass kissing, but it comes from the heart!
Now I can continue to preserve my library, in a playable format. Alot of my old games were destroyed back in highschool.
I made the mistake of bringing them to school, and a dude that used to torture me got into my bag and found them...
I got in quite a bit of trouble over it, but he never bothered me again. xD

One last time, I'll say it.

THANK YOU!!!

(Sorry for the dramatic comment, I'm just excited that I was finally able to do this.)

Nice post like this are always welcome and let the guys know that they are appreciated. Everyone likes to be shown some love sometimes :)

It's helped me tremendously, and I've only just scratched the surface.
I really appreciate everything you guys are doing here, and as I told Fin9ersMcGee,
I'll try to contribute back in some form when I become more familiar with all of this.
Really like this community as well, wish I'd found it sooner!

Followed step-by-step, patiently, as the guide requires alot of.
Can confirm I've successfully installed and test-played my Kingdom Hearts II (PS2), and Star Ocean: First Departure(PSP).
Works perfectly.

If anyone here is having problems, and have tried starting from the beginning of the tutorial and PATIENTLY reading and understanding the content, and are still having trouble, feel free to make a post (linking me so I get a notification!)

(If my continuous posts are against the rules, I apologize and please correct me.)

feel free to contact me (Preferrably by PM).
Nooooo. Not on pm, that's why we have a forum. ;)
(If my continuous posts are against the rules, I apologize and please correct me.)
Partially they are, but if there is a reason, or time gap, is ok to double post. I never understand some forums where for example you can't add something to old thread, just because is old (greetings to pcsx2 forum, protip: close those kinds of thread automatically), or double post after some time, etc. Just keep using common sense, and you will be fine. ;)

I edited my post on the part about PMing me, sorry about that :)

I just want to help out and contribute to this community for all of the help it's given me.
Also the moderators and mod teams are very polite and mature, something I've had bad experiences finding.

I'll be glad to help take some of the load off with random questions with easy answers regarding the HAN exploit.
I'm still learning alot of it myself, but so far I've been successful with no errors by simply following this guide SLOWLY.
When I get the time, I'll dig through the various questions related to this guide in this post and throughout the forum and try to compile a FAQ-specific to this guide.

After this post I'll be a little more conscious about my timing and the rules.
Thanks for the clarification!

@Zazenora The big problem with helping in pm is that nobody else can see or be helped by what you say so we keep answering the same questions and nobody can step in if bad advice is given, not that you would intentionally give bad advice but we all make mistakes. On top of that it will drive you crazy trying to hold everyone's hand and spoon feed them.
Glad you're enjoying the site and people as you can tell we all take a lot of pride in keeping this one of the best places in the scene.

Just helping out and sharing good info, tips and tricks are some of the most helpful things someone can do.

We're all pretty easy going so enjoy yourself it's harder to get into trouble than to stay out of it as long as you read the rules :)
