PS3 [POC-Video Released] COBRA v7.3 - Shows new progress with Cobra's ps2emus

Earlier in the week CFW developer Joonie confirmed that fellow developer Habib was developing the latest version of COBRA v7.3 along with help from mysis as the developer tackle some of the issue with PS2 ISO, such as the controller sync issues that still reside (while there was workarounds using the PS2 Launcher) there was and currently is still the issue when launching a PS2ISO from the XMB disc icon after the game is mounted. However it appears in COBRA v7.3 that developer habib & mysis have been able to eliminate these issues. Attached is a video demonstration [break]s[/break] from Joonie showcasing this new advancement for CFW in action, see this and other details as we wait for habib and others to finish up COBRA v7.3.

CECH-2001B
REBUG 4.78.1 REX (CEX)

All 3 DS3 controllers are synced while playing PS2 titles through PS2 Disc icon. (without ps2 launcher method)

Habib and mysis reversed what VSH does to configuration of PS2 emulation, and COBRA 7.3 Core can now do the same.
ps2bootparam is where it has all ps2 configurations parsed by VSH.

Many thanks to those two talented devs!

and this is why I still haven't updated from Rogero 4.46 Cobra 7. Maybe I will if this gets released. Everything else in 4.46 Rogero Cobra still works 100%, even newer PS3 games are fine, just open them in mmCM first and convert the SFO.

Be prepared for the issues with PS3 games that you previously installed, OLD COBRA7 corrupts game data due to its permission patch that affected a few ps3 titles not being able to launch (for ex: Destiny, some jap games and so on), that was fixed by deank [the author of multiman] long time ago when we worked on 4.65 cobra, as a result a lot of people ended up deleting their game data and reinstalled.

Yea that happened to me as well but its an easy fix just time consuming reinstalling the game data. Not quiet as long now that I use a faster SSHD instead of my old slow and clunky 5400rpm drive.

Currently polishing stuff on backward compatible models. seems like it's fine for non-BC [which are majority of PS3 users atm]

beta testers can contact me :)

tested, this worked fine on my ps3-cechp07 .

I have a question..
some ps2 games( ex: dragon quest 8 ) , it can't play if mount ISO & run ps2 disc icon ( black screen)
can't play also if mount ISO & run ps2 classic launcher...
It playable if mount BIN.ENC & run ps2 classic launcher...
BIN.ENC format is better than ISO... why DEVs don't popularize it?

Yep, ISO always had worse compatibility, so if you are unable to run some title, give it a try with .bin.enc format :)
Some of the devs mentioned it in the past, but you are right, it would be nice if it was widely stated!

First time ever this can be possible:

Habib and mysis reversed what VSH does to configuration of PS2 emulation, and COBRA 7.3 Core can now do the same.
ps2bootparam is where it has all ps2 configurations parsed by VSH.

Access to ps2bootparam can give some compatibility boost, or same compatibility like encrypted image. But anyway is not point of cobra 7.3 but maybe in near future something will happen. First time "we can".

umm ps2bootparam is like for param.sfo on ps3, but the internal config is defined on config file inside ps2classic contents, which is [MENTION=22901]mysis[/MENTION]'s major interest to boost the compatibility

:embarrassed: Yep i messed something then. But anyway at this stage of R.E. ps2 emus i s probably possible to use existing patches for other games. Maybe even more.

Haven't turned on my PS3 in months been PC gaming since I could afford a solid rig, but it's things like this which will not allow me to just sell the damn thing. Great job guys and thank you for your work.

Agreed, this is what i was refering before (incorrectlly) when i said to make a cobra database of specific PS2 games configs
Some kind of collection of settings (in a custom format for efficiency, or official format for simplicity, dunno) for all known PS2 games. Most of them can be copyed from the official "PS2 classic" from the store, we know for sure this config files are nice to use (sony consider them good enought)
But we can also add our owns (maybe with an small problem, not good enought for sony to publish a game like that, but good for us because the game works decentlly

I think this is the max compatibility we can dream to achieve with the official emus (same method with PSP and the "PSP remasters" btw)

I've tested dq8 with clean iso, and it runs perfect. No enc needed.

Cobra 7.3 PS2

Anybody tried PS2 Battlefront I & II ?
I tried all language ISOs they all freeze at different stages - suspect bigger problems than 7.3 can fix
Does .ENC coversion help?
Tnx

You were already told both of those games DO NOT WORK with non backwards compatible consoles and they probably never will
