GSM will always be problematic because it traps more GS regs that it should.
PS1VmodeNeg will work but it can only negate video stuff and is buggy for some games and consoles and detection.
It will also not work with component/PS2HDMI if your TV does not support 240p.
Use DKWDRV because it solves all the problems. You do not have to worry about anything, just enable PS2HDMI Fix.
First read well everything that it says
https://github.com/wisi-w/DKWDRV
Download the ELF
https://github.com/wisi-w/DKWDRV/releases/download/1.7.1/DKWDRV.ELF
Insert PS1 disc into console and then load the ELF you downloaded. Go to Option and then Video Options.
Go to
"Component/PS2HDMI Fix" and press right on dpad to set it to 1.
Press triangle to go back to main menu.
Select Save Config to save the selection.
Select Run and the game will boot.
If you have DECKARD you can do live offset the screen. Remember to set PS2HDMI option and save config for each game.
You only need to save config once per game after that you can do Run directly.
Read github link for full info and if you have issues then post (on github issue preferably (or here)) and hope to get fixed one day.
What's DECKARD?
So, I'd have to do that for every single game? Would it work for all PAL and NTSC games? Would I need to use or (or GSM) if playing PS1 discs on a 4K/8K TV?
EDIT: I ran DKWDRV and it doesn't let me choose any setting. It's stuck on the menu.
