PS2 PS2 slim con OPL non legge i giochi da CD/PS2 slim with OPL does not read games from CDs

Good morning everyone, first of all thanks to "gameman 5000" for the patience and help given to install UlanchELF (ver4.43a) and OPL (ver1.1.0) on PS2 slim+matrix infinity with player working only on DVDs. I get straight to the problem: precisely because the PS2 no longer reads CDs I wanted to recover the hundred games and bring them onto a flash drive (I believe in the future via ETH). Let me start by saying that the CDs are immaculate, they have no scratches. I tried to create the ".iso" file with Nero and with MagicISO but the result is always the same: positioned in the "x:\PS2SMB\CD" folder of the stick and starting OPL they don't work (no game appears in the list). I tried putting some games from p2p (iso files) larger than 700mb in the "DVD" folder: OPL works and loads the game. I tried to insert a p2p game (iso file) of about 400mb in the "CD" folder: OPL works and loads the game. Therefore I believe (it is my thought) that the conversion I tried to do from CD to ISO (with the programs described above) has some problems/is wrong. Another check done was via OPL manager: the only file that OPL manager reads without errors is the iso file found via p2p. If I try to read the iso files created from CDs with Nero or MagicISO it tells me that they are "corrupt".

https://www.psx-place.com/threads/t...the-snesticle-emulator-for-ps2-via-opl.41372/

https://www.psx-place.com/threads/t...the-snesticle-emulator-for-ps2-via-opl.41372/
do I also have to install the emulator and then verify the file, or do I just follow the procedure that indicates the creation of the iso file?

Sorry if this is a silly question but your cd library are they a mix of PS1 and PS2 cd discs ? If it is a mix OPL will not boot , PS1 games must be run through POPStarter after being converted to VCD format , PS2 CD games should be listed if memory serves named in a specific way but that may have changed .I'm asking for clarity because you typed P2P (iso) maybe that was a typo .

Only the creation of the ISO file is so that you can see how you should configure the program and transfer the files.

The problem is that there are more than a hundred backup games with only the title indicated on them, it is not clear whether they are for PS1 or PS2. So it's difficult for me to understand whether I should transform them into ISO or another format. Files by p2p meant by peer-to-peer.

Così almeno capisco quali in iso e quali in vcd....

How can I tell if the CDs are for PS1 or PS2? By inserting it into the PC reader and looking at the files inside, can you understand what format it is in? So at least I understand which ones are in ISO and which ones are in VCD....

Use BurnAware Free to create your ISO image.

Follow these steps:

1.- Insert your CD into the tray of your PC.

2.-Open the drive to see its files.

3.-Add the files to "BurnAware Free" and create the ISO.

Follow this guide to create ISOS with this program.

This is what happened when using burnaware to create iso files from CDs

Così almeno capisco quali in iso e quali in vcd....

How can I tell if the CDs are for PS1 or PS2? I find the original ones for PS1 immediately: they have a black background... but many CDs are copies... so a normal CD. By inserting it into the PC reader and looking at the files inside, can you understand what format it is in? So at least I understand which ones are in ISO and which ones are in VCD....

I studied a bit in the psx place posts regarding the conversion of ps1 games. I tried inserting the CD and using MagicISO I created the BIN and CUE file of the game. Then with PSXVCD starting from the CUE file I create the VCD file. This file must be inserted in the "POPS" folder created on the USB stick (it is in the same level as "DVD", "CD" or "APPS"). In the stick I also insert the POPSTARTER loader which I will install in mc0. However, when starting OPL I cannot find a setting to enable reading of PS1 files (POPS). I forgot to mention one thing: now files converted to VCD are recognized by OPL manager, which didn't happen before.

There you have the reason why it doesn't work for you.
Some programs skip this error checking and go unnoticed.
Solution: use another disk that is not corrupt.

PSX games are recognized as APPs that's why I told you to leave that until the end and focus on creating a PS2 CD iso image correctly.

My problem is exactly that: I recognize some CDs immediately due to the black background (ps1)... but all the others are "normal" CDs. I don't know how to distinguish between a ps1 game (to be converted into a vcd file) or a ps2 game (to be converted into an iso file).

When you insert it, it doesn't tell you the name?
Maybe you can distinguish them by the serial SLUS (NTSC), SLES (PAL), etc. go to "psxdatacenter"

https://psxdatacenter.com/

Yes, of course, by inserting the CD into the PC reader I can verify the SLES code....so with this I can check it in "psxdatacenter" I understand whether for ps1 or ps2....so whether to convert it to VCD or ISO...correct?

Correct, even so your disks are corrupt as long as you cannot create the iso, be it psx or ps2.

ok...then identify whether for ps1 or ps2....convert to VCD for ps1 and to iso for ps2. I already know that the iso files go into the CD folder, while the VCD files should be placed in which folder? Don't you need any other program other than OPL to load VCDs and ISOs? Is there any setting to activate on OPL to read ps1 CDs (VCDs)?
