PS2 PS2 Swap Method Game List (2019)

Sure, it is possible with all games CD/DVD. Did you forget, some time ago, I even made a video about it for your request ;)
Yes, I know you made a video of it, after I asked! I also know, that I pointed out @Haldrie's video about it. ;)
Btw.: I think it will not work with ALL Discs, but over 99% I think...

It could be… I seems to remember I messaged with some people that managed to make MGS3 work, asking which Ps2 model they used, and I think in one case it was the same Ps2 model as my. But I can be wrong. It's something to be checked.
Well, almost all games/discs with a second-stage-ELF can be used, but some either need a double-swap regardless of the model and some seem to need it only on newer models!

In fact, I use ULE 4.11 for swapping.
I think 4.12 should work as well, but those after it probably won't.

That's a VERY good question, because I think it was somehow related to packed ELFs and either the unpacking-stub or the binary blob (the content which is meant to be unpacked and executed), but I don't remember about that specifically... As long as the unpacked (but stripped) ELF is smaller, it might work with newer versions as well...

I remember I tried ULE 4.42 (ULE 4.36 too I think) and some newer in both compressed/uncompressed versions and they never work.

I just don't remember, what caused it.

I'm quite sure the issue started after 4.12 tho'.

Interesting, Didn't know uLE/wLE wouldn't work on PS3 depending on version/compressed

I'll try a few unpacked see what happens.

The only documented way to load ELFs from the disc is with the LoadExecPS2 syscall. There are ways to load and execute code without that syscall, but I am pretty sure it is not too common since it would be reinventing the wheel.

The ps2-packer stub had bugs, which may cause boot failures. Sometimes not caused by bad coding, but the signature could be interpreted as an instruction, due to its proximity to the entry point. Then of course, the PS3 uses an emulator, so it might be not emulating the EE exactly. This might be an indicator of a bug in ps2-packer, who knows.

Just to avoid misunderstanding, I was talking about Ps2 console.

It was actually the 4.38 version. I couldn't start that neither in CD nor DVD version. I downloaded it from some guide, so it should work. Maybe it depends on the Ps2 model.

Uncompressed uLe v4.38 can be found here (uLE v4.38 boot DVD ISO.zip):

I remember I downloaded both CD and DVD versions from a guide. Btw I couldn't make it to start (using cogswap, then switching to Ule CD/DVD) on my 75004. I think I even tried it on the 39004 (Always using cogswap first), same result. I still have them both (Ule 4.38 CD and DVD).

ou said it works with SwapMagic. I don't remember if I tried it (I use SwapMagic 3.8 Elf for testing). I'll check it, thank you.

It doesn't work for me with SwapMagic 3.8 Elf. I tried both normal and special boot (video mode always as default). When I press X after swapping to ULE 4.38 DVD, it start OPL (that I have on autolaunch). It don't completely restart fmcb, the logo doesn't appear, it directly start OPL (or whatever I have on autolaunch).

I'm not sure if I fully understand you?

You managed to launch SwapMagic 3.8.Elf:

When you're inserting uLe 4.38 DVD after this image, what is happening?

I mean, after pressing "X" on Normal or Special it is displaying PAL - default - NTSC.
Now when you hit "X" it is kicking you back into OSDSYS?
In FMCB configuration you've set in E1 Launch keys... -> Auto -> Path to OPL?

So every time you want to swap disc through SwapMagic 3.8.Elf it is launching OPL?

Did you block the lid sensors?
What will happens when you'll insert uLe 4.38 DVD at FMCB Menu?

I think he is not swapping correctly and @jolek is on the right track! ^^

@Peppe90 Once you are in the SM3.8-Menu, please unplug your MC... I am quite sure it returns to the OSDSYS/PS2-Menu, or the "Red Screen".

I'm swapping with the 39004. I have Swap Magic 3.8 DVD.Elf as I said (I boot it from usb-hdd). I use some high Toc DVDs for swapping (Matrix path of neo in this case). I know how to use it, I used it for playing DMC 1 jap from original DVD (swapping with Matrix or DMC 1 or 2 PAL). It perfectly works for games but doesn't for this Ule 4.38 DVD.
I'm pretty sure the DVD is correctly burned but there's no way to start it.

Well,... Then the ISO probably wasn't built well/correctly!

I extracted the ISOs from my burned discs:

- DVD version: ebc421a663afb1a4e096d22f93fe579b
- CD version: fdad5eacac3ec65c05e5b8e5417b6f25

I checked the MD5 of uLE v4.38 boot DVD ISO from @jolek's link. It match.
