I installed HEN v3.0 through the web browser and it installed successfully. I rebooted my ps3, but everytime I enable hen from xmb it loads forever. If I enable hen from the web browser it works but not from xmb. Any suggestions?

Did you install any mods after installing HEN? It sounds like you installed something that modified the category_game.xml. Try enable hen online, then install the latest HEN pkg again from USB.

i think he install category_game.xml that have the modified stores entry

I haven't altered mine since finally going to 4.85 with HEN 3.0 and have some small issues but it isn't a big deal. Before 3.0 and 4.84 never had a HEN init failure. Now it's probably 90% but of that 90% I would say it is a 50/50 if it hangs. If it hangs I just exit and retry with immediate success. But the times it does work without a hitch it is a second or two slower to initialize then the prior pre-3.0 and HFW 4.84, but like I said it isn't a huge deal a few seconds doesn't break my use and I always seem to get it the second time trying if I get a failure and forced reboot. I figured it was just the initialize time was delayed a little bit more.

Yeah, idk what happened there. HEN was enabling super quick at one stage and was super reliable. Maybe it needs to be reverted or something, just the js I mean.

HFW is an OFW + old 4.50 exploitable module (silk_webkit.sprx) as $ONY blocks/patches the exploits/tools founded in 4.81/4.82 in OFW 4.83 till 4.85 so HFW is mixture of :
  • OFW 4.85 (Unpacked)
  • Replaced "/dev_flash/vsh/module/silk_webkit.sprx" with old exploitable one from OFW 4.82
  • Repack it again with :
    • old 4.50 exploitable silk_webkit.sprx
    • old 4.75 explore_category_tv.sprx/old 4.75 mtpinitiator_plugin.sprx
    • version.txt (edited from 4.85 to 4.85.1 HFW [Hybrid and exploitable])
    • edited firmware Build from 67869 to 99999 so when user do a twice firmware installation it doesn't bypass the user agrement


After you install HFW 4.85.1
  • Go to Internet Browser

    ->Search then type ps3xploit and click on first link

    ->Tools->Home page->Use Current
  • Disable Confirm browser Close

  • Install HEN from PS3HEN tab like on OFW 4.82/4.84.2 HFW if HEN Installer *Fixed* not work then try HEN Installer (Alternate)

While it is not necessary I read joonie and other developers publications. I recommend it in 4.84. I never understood why it is still an ofw.

Why it still OFW??

Because the modules replaced in OFW 4.84/4.85 are not signed by mere users or devs in the scene here they are signed with $ONY private key for 4.XX and those are not leaked to public if so there will cfw or permanent HEN in all models including some 25XX slims and 3XXX slims and 4XXX super slims thats way HFW is OFW because all files are original signed by $ONY only three modules are from lower version OFW which themselfs official $ONY signed

thats why its installeble on all models no exceptation same as installing ofw update on all models :)
 
sorry I think there was a translation problem that I wanted to express was that the hfw although it is a mod firmware this is still an ofw and therefore I did not understand why they recommended installing the official 4.84 and then the hfw.

Who recommand that ??? one the devs !!! links,posts where they say that ??
 
He is probably mentioning the note about installing firmware twice to get same ros values. But it also says that this is aimed at flash writer
 
hey I have a serious problem with My Ps3 super slim
a week ago i was playing SAW 1 and pause the game to find cell code on my phone when i treturn to game it froze so i unplugged the power cord and turn it on again but it only show me black screen on hdmi at 576p i could still hear the sound of menu selection i tried the video reset but to no avail so held the button long enough to go in recovery mode after three beeps it showed me plug your controller message and showed all options first i tried the reset default setting option but nothing happened so again boot to recovery tried rebuild database but still nothing so i download the 4.84 update pup went in recovery chose the update option it boot after detecting update but only black screen on controller i pressed x on controller it looked frozen to me so unplug the power cord again Now whenever i try to turn it on light stays solid green no display at hdmi cant in recovery too. Tried av cord but still black screen What should i do plus my cmos battery socket is also torn from motherboard from possitve end
 
Noob question so I'm a bit confused with all info I've seen. I've got a PS3 super slim 42xx on OFW 4.85... Is it possible to jailbreak it?

Not a full jailbreak to install CFW, as super slims are not compatible. You can still install HEN, for which you'll need to install HFW 4.85.1 first.

Thank u! That's what I thought however I've installed HFW via storage files (all good) then tried to do the same via recovery mode (as I've seen it should br done both ways) but it keeps coming as NO APPLICABLE UPDATE DATA FOUND. I have done the PS3/UPDATE/. PUP + formatted as fat32. Anyway i went to pa3xploit and tried initiate hen, failed refreshed it and it work however when i tried enable hen.. Ps3hen. Bin missing. Then downloaded it onto my usb (root folder) but that's it. Stuck on what to do next as I keep having the same error. any ideas?
