Hey Guys!

I need a little bit help to set up a connection from my PC to my PS3 via Ethernet Cable using ps3netsrv, the connection via Wifi works fine but is really slow, i got no clue why it won't work with the Ethernet Cable : |

If you can play with your wifi, where this signal come from? I mean your router no??
So why you plug directly into your ethernet card, or maybe your router is too far from you

FYI some stats about bandwidth when you playing games via network

- Wifi between 3-4 mb/s loading is very slow... it's useless lol
- Ethernet Phat ~ 12,5MB/s (100Mb/s) or Slim 125MB/s (1gbp/s) (not tested on slim)
- To compare with BD Drive it's around 8,5mb/s

About best ethernet configuration on slim you need ethernet cable cat5 Category 5 cable - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia + PC Card on your motherboard compatible 1gpb/s + router 1gpb/s of course :)

Edit: I've forgot you need to use a crossover cable to link your ps3 to your pc not a straight cable.

bridge both of your network adapters, then set the ps3's ip settings to a static ip via wired connection.

Yes my router is to far from me so can't do anything other as connect them without a router between

bridge both of your network adapters, then set the ps3's ip settings to a static ip via wired connection.

Yeah already tried but don't get a connection

Using this configuration on my PS3:

IP: 192.168.2.109
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Standard-Router: 192.168.2.1
DNS: 192.168.2.1
Second DNS: Empty

then yoru doing something wrong. go to the ps3s network settings at the bottom of the system column and set it to wired connection

Of course i set it to a wired connection (otherwise it makes no sense), but i think so too that i forgot something : |

and you have verified the ip settings in network connections on yoru pc as well? what is yoru network adapters ip setting. also please disreguard the comment about needing crossover cables as it is incorrect. a good ole regular network cable will work just fine

aww damn it was set as "automatic"...

must be also configured

Prime example of massive failure on networking 101:

Direct connection between pc-ps3 without a bridging or switching device requires a crossover, not a standard network cable.
Since its a direct connection, nothing sends a dhcp signal for ip information, these must be manually configured.
bridging the connection between wifi and lan can work for the most part, but when problems arise, its usually do to this software "half fix"

These are just a couple of the things i've spotted along the way for this setup/configuration.

I've said a crossover cable in my poste, but i think KanadeEngel hasn't seen :embarrassed:

if direct connection requires a crossover cable, then why does my setup work connected directly to the ps3 from my pc? i dont use any special cable... all you have to do is set a static ip. i can do this in 2 mins tops. its very easy and not complicated at all.

all you do is plug up the ps3 via LAN (direct connection to pc) and specify an ip that is in the same range as the pc. works flawless for me, as a matter of fact, it worked so good that i purchased an additional gigabit card to handle the ps3 and i bridged the two adapters to gain internet access so i can go online as well now.

you do not need a special cable to connect the ps3 directly to a pc. mine is set up right now without a "crossover" cable and didnt have to do anything special except specify ip (on the ps3)

In PC (Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) for your lan card) set:

IP Address 10.1.1.1
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Defualt Router 10.1.1.0
Primary DNS 10.1.1.0
Secondary DNS 10.1.1.10

In PS3 manually set:

IP Address 10.1.1.2
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Defualt Router 10.1.1.0
Primary DNS 10.1.1.0
Secondary DNS 10.1.1.10

Select "Automatic", "Do Not Use" and "enable". Push X to save the settings. Test connection to verify you can acquire an IP Address. Internet Connection should fail. Use this addresses in FTP and net server everything except internet should work now.

Cable don't need to be crossed if is Category 5e/6 cable (Category 5 without e probably need to be crossed - not sure exactly), and your pc card support 1Gbps standard, if no you also need crossed cable

kozarovv Already tested, won't work so it must be the cable (used the shitty Sony Standard LAN Cable) and not the settings
