Brief instructions:
  • Turn on the console, insert disc (or run psn title), install all game patches;
  • Plug-in the USB stick, run the ps4-dumper payload (.bin or standalone);

  • On PC: Plug-in the USB Stick, then open gengp4.exe, point into CUSAxxxxx-* dir and press Generate .GP4, You should get the 'Done.', then press Save .GP4;
  • Open .gp4 in the orbis-pub-gen and build .pkg file (You can get the orbis-pub-gen tool via PKG_Fake_Generator);
  • Run PS4HEN payload, install and test your .pkg;
  • Enjoy.

the ps4 is like the vita and the ps3 in that you can install game patches without signing into psn, correct? what if the update requires 4.55< ? I plan to hack my system once my new laptop comes back from repair (was registering 100% cpu usage by just surfing the internet, but it's still under warranty until December :)), so I'm trying to gather as much information as possible. I take it you need to go into debug settings to install a pkg from usb? can you from the internal hdd? and, these pkgs go on the root of the usb drive? there are a few games I want to backup including a sealed copy of bloodborne which atreyu told me to get. he sent me a link where I could get the game new for $5 or so. lol ;) I guess what isn't clear to me is the pkg portion of the exploits. a lot of information says to install test.pkg, but nothing beyond that or how to do it. btw, I thought the pkg installer in debug pkgs was locked unless flatz unlocked it? he probably did then. :)

I Would have to try game updates to be sure.
To install pkgs your usb can be in exfat or fat32 obviously exfat is better for larger files and put on the root of the usb after running the exploit go to
debug settings> game > package installer

thanks. does it matter which usb port the pkg is on? aside from one more question regarding the location of saves, in order to back them up, I think I have all the information I need to run the exploit. I do like to find out everything before hacking a console. :-P I just need to wait for my new laptop to come back from repair. I have the ps4 update pup, but I do have content, including windows 10 rescue files on a flash drive for safe keeping, so I can't risk transferring the content and reformatting. I'm afraid of the pc crashing and not being able to boot back up. it already can't restart, and the battery seems to be dying; anyway, once I get my new laptop back in a week or two, I will update and run the exploit. :) thanks for the help and for the information @TOM1211 .

scratch that, I now know where saved data is located. it's in an obvious location just like on the
vita. lol

Code:
/user/home/user Id/title Id/save data directory/sce_sys/

Don't think I've had problems using any of the usb slots but did read somewhere about it being the closest one to the disc drive but haven't had any problems. Enjoy when you get everything running.

have you tried running games from an external hdd? I read that it has issues. I'm not sure if you just physically transfer the game or if you modify the app.db. I've done the latter before with the vita - having it read a pboot instead of an eboot. it does in fact work. ;) I'm not sure if it works on the ps4 though or if you even need to do that. I think the issue with this had to do with fake signing after the pkg was installed, but I'm not really sure. I do have a 2TB hdd (internal). if you can use an external (up to 8TBs I heard or at least officially), I might do that as well. does the ps4 allocate a certain amount of space to the ps4 or is it like the wii u in that the entire hdd is used and encrypted? iirc, you can allocate space with the 360, so that's the only console I've seen do that. I have my ps4 controller (the dq one) sitting next to my system with my dvr and 360 external hdd sitting to the right of it. I'll have to move that controller to make room for the hdd if you can. :-P

Can't install updates, do i really need?

are you blocking urls? you might be blocking the ones for game updates. for example, on the wii u, the blocked url's are to the eshop, so you can't connect or download an update unless you either turn off blocking or use nnu patcher. that could be what's happening to you.

Nope!!! The update downloads fine. It's wont let me install it's says i need update system before update game.

So my question it's. TO download a update we need a account in PS4, so my PS4 PRo doesnt and wont download updates anyway.

So again, do we realy need update game? Becouse it's seens like "impossible"

no idea. I have url's blocked on my system, but t'm blocking them as per my ps4 tutorial. does it nag you about needing an update at least? I think mine still said that there was an update for say 1.07 of street fighter v. I can't recall if I updated it. I assume yes since it no longer says that. I can't recall if it was before or after blocking url's though I think it was after.

anyway, as per your question, I don't think you need to. I've done a lot of reading before running the exploit myself, and it says that if an update requires over 4.55 then you need to redump the game. that suggests that you don't have to download updates.

That was what I was going to check so yes the update tells you you need a higher firmware it won't work and if you have started the game looks like the only way to fix it is deleting the game and starting again as there's no way to remove the update once started.

I could be wrong, but don't you need to update using an updater app instead of through the ps4 itself?
