Grabbed one at Best Buy for 18 bucks the other day here in Maryland USA. Best 18 I spent in awhile. I posted pics and a rough tutorial of the hard mod I did to it in the psc section here
Cool, I would get a few more if i could at that price. Already picked one up for £15.99 on Amazon, it came with a £4 voucher for groceries which I used for coffee, so it only cost me £11.99.
Unfortunately that Gamestop offer is not on in Ireland right now, I will keep an eye out for it though.
Actually looks like there is none available in Germany now either.
I haven't decided if I wanted to modify my psx classic. I was having problems with my ps2 modchip earlier this week, but everything is fixed now. it's almost impossible to hear it running, it's so quiet now. anyway, I'll probably play psx games on the ps2 once I have everything hooked up right and many burns. I mainly wanted the psx classic for collecting purposes.
PSC-Modding is easy... It's just a USB-Stick and some software and done...
I rather use a 512GB-Micro-SD via OTG (if possible), instead of discs.
I love original Hardware as well, but the PSC is perfect as an Emulation-Station.
it's mostly that I don't want to rerip games. however, discs do have their problems. when I tried my dragon quest v burn, it wouldn't load up, yet mmx collection worked instantly. I reburned dq v, and it worked without issue.
It's crazy that these were selling for a hundred bucks and now they are almost giving them away. I'm hopeful that the genesis mini goes the same route, although it looks as though sega is actually overseeing the project to make it a good experience unlike $ony and their quick cash grab. I can't complain though since I picked mine up for 18 bucks and got a 256gb usb for 30 all at Best Buy. It's an awesome little retro emu station now.
It already is an awesome device (especially when it's hacked), especially for the price and what you get hardware-wise!
We are still in the infancies of the PSC-Scene! During the last few weeks and months, an incredible amount of people have joined the scene!
It really seems, this will become a collector's and homebrewer's toy! It also seems, that a lot of people are buying it solely for the reason of modding it!
I can't wait to see, what this thing can do by the end of 2020!
