Not wanting much publicity for this, but i keep getting comments on the youtube video of it asking for it so Im releasing it. Im not really happy with it, that is why I never released it before now, Its 98% complete, but has a couple of text bugs, and as I cant read it , I cant fix them, also I don't have time for this anymore so Im just putting it out there

Maybe some will just use it the way it is and put up with the few bugs in the text, or maybe someone else will decide to finish it off.

It is released without any guarantees, so don't blame me if you click "no" some day but you select "yes" because I mixed up some entries.

Massive thanks to MHAF99 for all the help with this. sorry I could not get it finished and it took me so long to release this much.

Thanks to HAIDER ENG2AR and Mustafa Star for the original translations this is based on. (CFW 4.55/4.65)

I pieced these translations together from a few places and then edited them to suit Rebug 4.81 rcos with a lot of help from MHAF99, but there are a few things still not right.

Also tested ok on 4.80, should be fine on 4.82 too.

Will work on other CFW, but you will get red icons.

do u speak arabic @DeViL303
No, not a bit. :) That is why I gave up on this, it was just too hard to do. What it needs is someone who speaks Arabic and who knows how to work with rcos to go through it and fix any mistakes.

But I am done with it now, hopefully it helps someone.

kinda useful but english might be better cuz no one knows every word and some words might be tranlated into hard arabic words.

thanks bro, we appreciate that, but still we need arabic keyboard layout :(
cuz we can not use youtube search engine with arabic language

Looks like a bit of a thread bump, but I wanted to chime in and say I really like the sentiment you put into releasing a XMB mod for a language you don't read or speak. PlayStation has always been huge in the Middle East, so there's always been a demand for Arabic fan translations or localization of some kind. I do know that Arabic XMB modifications are nothing new but I don't believe they're readily available. Several mod shops in the Middle East to my knowledge load up customized CFWs onto consoles which have Arabic XMBs. If you ever decide to revisit this, it would be optimal if you could either get a hold of a mod shop's CFW or perhaps get in contact with someone who has had their system modified by one.

A friend of mine got his PS3 from a family member who had it modified in Saudi Arabia and told me the XMB was all in Arabic. I'd ping him about dumping necessary files for you, but unfortunately he was just interested in getting it up to date and running. He nuked it a while ago and installed a REBUG D-REX CFW on there, so no luck in grabbing the original CFW he got it with.

Chances are they were using the files previously released and not there own works. I have seem this mod done for quiet a few firmwares by different people. @DeViL303 is at least the fourth one I know to do this for this language. This should also work for HEN users as nothing much has changed since then. That's not to deter you from your findings as if it is different maybe a patch could be made to update this.

Thanks, I had to leave this mod, it had issues, with a few strings showing up in wrong places, and not being able to read it, meant it was impossible to debug. I have since learned a little more, and i suspect that there are strings missing from the rcos. Really someone needs to start with the 4.84 rcos as a base. as i think the base i used was 4.65..and it only takes a few things to be missing to mess everything up.

If there are up to date Arabic rcos out there from 4.80+ then someone should just post them here with credits, only takes a minute to dump them, approx 20MB in total. I don't have a lot of time free right now so will have to leave it to others to be honest.

I would not recommend anyone using these on newer FW really or HEN, or using them as a base to mod further, someone who understood Arabic, could go through all the language files one by one, and transfer the strings into new rcos, filling in any missing ones. That's what really needs to be done.

Hi, I would love to help out with these mods. I can speak Arabic pretty good (perks of being born in Middle East). Besides editing the rco files in flash, what else needs to be done ? Is this going to work on hen by any chance ? Because I don't have access to my cfw ps3 at the moment. I can only test it on hen.

I think it's going to be popular among the arabs here! (If we manage to recreate this)

how can i know if its a soft brick
What console model is it?
If you still have access to the recovery menu it is most likely a soft brick.

Assuming the console is a NOR model, if nothing works in recovery menu & you cannot reinstall the firmware even after attempting to fix errors with option 3 & 4 or restoring the system (option 5), you could try removing the internal hdd, reformatting it to ntfs on a PC & reinserting it in the PS3, you should be able to reinstall the system software.

If it's a NAND or eMMC model though, soft bricks are more problematic to fix.

If the console was in DEX mode before bricking, you will need to use the Rebug 4.84 D-REX PUP file for reinstallation, the REX PUP file will not work.
