PS4 [Research] PS2 Game Status on (PS4's - PS2 EMU)

Will do! Between this, Metal Saga, Ring of Red, and the weird transparent/invisible cars in Ridge Racer V, I'm about ready to throw in the towel, lol. Thanks for all your help and advice though, it's very much appreciated :)

Okay, now we're making some progress - slight that it is.

Valkyrie Profile 2 SLES54644
*works*! Game loads, though it has screen jittering normally remedied by enabling Progressive mode (480p/576p), which - unfortunately - the PAL release of VP2 doesn't have >_< Go figure. Still, it *is* working now, game loads and seemingly plays fine.

I also tried Suikoden IV SLES52913, though that crashes at the loading screen. The US version just has a never-ending loading animation, whereas the PAL releases throws an EE fault and crashes.

Suikoden V SLES54087 works just fine, from my limited testing, even has native support for Progressive Scan, and works quite well with nemesis2000/El_patas widescreen patches.

There's no PAL release of Metal Saga with which to test, and hell would have to freeze over before I play the gimped 50Hz version of Ridge Race V, lol.

Still! VP2 and Suikoden V both work and that's a great result! Naturally I used the triace hack for VP2.

Need for Speed - Most Wanted Black Edition [SLUS21351] - GFXwrong colors on cars. Sound glitches ingame and in menus
Need for Speed - Underground [SLUS20811] - Sound Glitchy in menus, Ingame is ok
Need for Speed - Underground 2 [SLUS21065] - Sound Glitch in Menus. Game Stutters and plays at 1 Frame a second
Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance [SLUS20035] - GFX Glitchy Unplayable (Spikey Polygons)
Baldur's Gate - Dark Alliance 2 [SLUS20675] - GFX Glitchy Unplayable (Spikey Polygons)

I guess I will keep NFS Underground but still not happy with it ;)

I am wondering wether PS4 can emulate PS2 better then PS3? These results I seem to recall having the same issues..

I tried Silent Hill Origins with pad/ds4 configs, no success.
Code:
--ds4-deadzone-adjust=1
--host-pad-loses-focus=1

Its not that all controlls arent working...triangle, start/select works..and the gamepad works in the options menu..hm..

Analog work too. It just read it not as a constant input, but as many pushes. Check in main menu with enabled sound. ;)

Some more testing today, and some *very* surprising results too! Both Zone of the Enders games work and - seemingly - work great too. They look fantastic at 2x2 (almost PCSX2 quality tbh), have perfect performance, and no glitches that I can notice. I did get one EE fault crash with ZoE2 but restarting the game I haven't been able to replicate it so *shrug* Who knows? Save often?

Anyway, updating the Wiki with more results.

~edit~

Okay, today has been a fun day!

Fatal Frame [SLUS20388]
Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus [SLUS21419]
The King of Fighters 2006 [SLUS21365]
The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact [SLES52898]
The King of Fighters: Maximum Impact 2 [SLES52255]
The King of Fighters: Orochi Saga [SLUS21554]
The King of Fighters Neo Wave [SLES53999]
The King of Fighters XI [SLUS21687]
Shadow Tower: Abyss [SLPS25217]
Shining Force Neo [SLUS21206]
Zone of the Enders [SLES50111]
Zone of the Enders: The 2nd Runner [SLES51113]

As mentioned, ZoE2 did have an EE crash though it only happened once so I'm hesitant to say "it has issues", thankfully you can save at almost any time, so definitely use it. Just in case. Fatal Frame crashes with an EE fault immediately upon picking up the first roll of film. FFVII: Dirge of Cerberus, as noted on the Wiki, has some framerate drops - which result in scratchy audio - not all the time, but enough to put me off playing. I may retest with 2x2 up-render disabled. (update: tested with up-render none and performance was identical, same frame drops in the same places, only now it looks ugly as sin)

KoF: Orochi Saga also needs 2x2 up-render set to "None" due to black boxes/sprite glitches, the sort of thing that happens in a lot of 2D games and internal-res upscaling. None of the other KoF titles are affected :) Sadly King of Fighters XI crashes almost immediately following some very corrupted FMVs.

NTSC version of king of fighters XI is working 100% here. what does your config look like?

Sadly I've already deleted it, but it was [SLUS-21687]

However, I did use PS2 Patch Engine for WS patches. I'm re-ripping now and will try without them, just in case.

Also tested the three Shadow Hearts games today, #3 seems to work fine, #2 black screen after selecting "New Game", and #1 has severely low performance running around, combat speed is fine but suffers graphical glitches.

~edit~

The King of Fighters XI [SLUS-21687] is confirmed working! Thank you very much for the correction, Stayhye, I re-ripped and PKGed up *without* applying widescreen patches and the game loads perfectly. No corrupted FMVs, no EE crash. That's strange, I've WS patched over a dozen PS2 titles so far and not one has had any issues specifically due to the patches. Maybe I screwed something up?

I created this patch for pcsx2, and I can say it will not work for PS4.

Same with me and Fatal Frame, I tried repeatedly and it always threw an EE crash the instant you picked up the first roll of film, yet somebody made a Fatal Frame Trilogy pack on (another site) that people are reporting works fine. I... don't understand :\ I'll have to acquire it and rip out the disc01/eboot.bin to see what's different.
