POPStarter Game Installer for OPL is a software I've made to help people adding their games to the APPS page in OPL.
wLE_kHn is @krHACKen's wLE mod which allows launching VCD files directly.
This is why they do the stupid date edits on their site. That "time travel" is what makes them go first in Google search.
Avoid PS2-Home's so-called ifcaro builds. They are build from the source using old SDK version which usually causes bugs, like the HD issues from old builds. Download the builds only from GitHub's releases page.
Please, read what I wrote before:

FDVDB is the same everywhere. You can setup everything from scratch using the links I posted before if you want to.
I will make a resume for you:
- You can launch OPL's ELF from anywhere you want.
- You can launch PS2 games using OPL from the next devices: BDM (USB, MX4SIO, iLink/Firewire), ETH (SMB, UDPBD) and HDD (PFS)
They "cloned" the apps page and did some small changes and renamed it to ELM Page, then to PS1 Page.
All the features they have are copy/pasted from the official OPL. Their "extra commits" are from the small edits to the APPS' page clone and the bad crappy SD theme they implemented instead of the official HD one.
The download link here at PSX-Place reditects to GitHub. Here's the link: https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/releases
Grab the latest stable (1.1.0) or grab the latest BETA (always on top) to enjoy the new features.
Install your games using this: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/popstarter-game-installer-for-opl.34243/
Setup your OPL settings as:
USB / BDM: AUTO
ETH: MANUAL
HDD: MANUAL
APPS: AUTO
Your PS1 games will appear at the APPS page.
What's the VARIANTS version? Urgh, couldn't this be even more confusing?
I don't know why GitHub is so used. It isn't user-friendly at all. I can't find the GSM release on GitHub's GSM's repo. How can I download it from there?
What's the difference between FMCB 1.9 and FMCB 1.9 fork? Also, one can't directly download the latter in its GitHub repo so I don't know why are there GitHub repos that don't have the release so one can't download it or that have a link that redirects the user to a non-GitHub page and the user can download the release there and not in the GitHub repo.
What do you mean by launching VCD files directly? I can only run POPStarter from OPL, not by itself.
The other user said PS2-HOME's OPL ifcaro's builds were the same as GitHub's OPL's and now you're saying to avoid them since they are build from the source using old SDK version which usually causes bugs, like the HD issues from old builds and to download the GitHub OPL's buils only.
What do BDM and PFS mean?
But are you sure they didn't change FDVDB somehow? Even so, how can I be sure they didn't change the FMCB installer and FMCB itself? Don't forget I downloaded these two from there, also.
It doesn't make sense one can launch OPL's ELF from anywhere he/she wants but can only play PS1 and PS2 games from some devices. What's UDPBD and how do you know it's supported? Is it better than SMB?
Just to make sure, one can only play PS1 games from HDD, USB and SMB, right?
Could you tell me if those OPL beta features are worth it?
The thing is, I'm used to run POPStarter the other way (the PS1 games show up in the PS1 page), so is it harder this way? I use SMB for PS1 games too, not USB.
