PS2 Should I use PS2-HOME's OPL daily build or GitHub's OPL?

@Windows10User Not only supposed but it is.

*.zso is not like container in which inside is whole file compressed but compressed by each sector independently, plus small header on start of a file. Compressed disc image formats are designed to be streaming friendly. The other are *.cso, *.jso, *.dax and *.chd but PS2 is to weak to use them, so *.zso is so far the best choice on PS2 to use.

All OPL versions are on GitHub. And in this case, I agree, naming are total mess and highly misleading for end user. That's why I've renamed them in my repacks in AIO.

GitHub is today most valid source of today apps. So if available, then use it. Brewlogy is trustworthy too.

Could you tell me where is the OPL "alpha" (I don't know how it's called) version in GitHub? I can only found the latest OPL stable and beta versions there.

PSX-Place has different versions of the same app (1.1.0, 1.2.0 beta and another version which isn't even in GitHub wnd is even more "beta" than the beta one) and that app has different versions (the "normal" one and the "VARIANTS" one).
The link for OPL at PSX-Place redirects to GitHub. You literally haven't even clicked it, LOL!
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/opl-open-ps2-loader.372/

and another version which isn't even in GitHub wnd is even more "beta" than the beta one
That's not a "version", that's a "fork".

So, should I avoid Brewology for PS3 apps and use GitHub?
I have never said that. None of us did. Brewology is a good source for PS3 apps. But, as always, check GitHub first, then go to the other sites.
For PS2 apps, Brewology is not the place as it has NO PS2 APPS AT ALL!

Sorry, but IIRC, it had more than one version and I didn't understand the differences between the versions and how could I download them.

But now you know so you're not confused anymore. As I said, it is simple: "Avoid PS2-Home and get everything from GitHub or here."

Who mentioned alpha?
Anyway, since you mention the PoC alpha version... I will link it here since I have it in my vault:
http://www.hwc.nat.cu/ps2-vault/game-launchers/hdd-usb-smb/ps2/game-launchers/opl/USBLD_0.0.rar

But that's exactly what I said. Not all OPL versions are on GitHub, like that one (I was talking about it).
Why merge into the main repo something that might have serious issues. It is better to test it first at a fork and then merge via pull request.

It doesn't matter if it's another version or not. Should I download the 1.9 fork (which I guess it's one of these) or the other 1.9 release?

I didn't say Brewology was the place for PS2 apps, but for PS3 ones.

TnA, in the post I created in Reddit. Nothing happened when I clicked on that link and should I use that version, the 1.2.0 Beta one or the 1.1.0 one?

The why don't you merge with the other "alpha" version instead of having two threads?

Well, the beta version, since it's beta, might also have serious issues too.

Excuse me for interrupt but it is rude for a person keep asking same question bazillion times even though someone explaining it many, many times? I see the pattern here on other thread though.

About PS2-Home, this site becoming unfriendly to anyone. Don't like my comments or posts being heavily moderated every single time.

Some of them weren't explained and if you notice, even if I did ask the same thing more than once, I'm doing less questions because they're being answered and different users tell different things too, which is even more confusing, as if this PS2 homebrew scene wasn't confusing enough. Where do you see it?

I don't care if the posts are moderated since I never posted there nor do I intend to and I only used the site to download files but from now on I won't do that.

I carefully read the whole thread and I think you are JJ or he sent you here

Should I use GitHub's wLE latest development build? Why doesn't the 2019-01-07 build have a BOOT.ELF? I ran the development build and despite being released yesterday, it says it was released 10-05-2022. Also, why is the 2019-01-07 build called LaunchELF and not wLaunchELF?

Are GitHub's development wLE and OPL beta builds released every day?

EDIT: When running GitHub's development wLE release's PS2Net, it's stuck at loading NetFS and FTP Server Modules unlike PS2-HOME's so I'll have to use the latter.

Depend what You expect from uLE/wLE. Here is the list of forks: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/unofficial-launch-elf-flavours.33890/ Stable wLE is the one used in FMCB 1.966 installer, all the rest are rolling releases (consider them as endless beta, yet richer than old wLE).

None of the uLE is called LE. LaunchELF was the father of them all in ancient times. Why then not wLE? Maybe because You have limited space on the TV screen? ;)

Not every day, but when are changes and repository owner deploy binary.

Why are there so many forks? It's so confusing. I guess I only want to use wLE's FTP and transfer files between its folder while using the program itself (as well as FTP). Because of that, I guess I'll use PS2-HOME's wLE because of the FTP problem when using GitHub's development wLE release.

I ran the development build and despite being released yesterday, on the PS2 it says it was released 10-05-2022.

When do those changes happen, on average?

Should I download the 1.9 FMCB fork (which I guess it's one of these) or the other 1.9 FCMB release?

Source is open so anyone which want modify it for something, doing it on his own. Normally authors adding readme to his projects where everything (like differences) is well explained and what in the first place a user should read. In case of wLE, not always.

I've described in short here: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/unofficial-launch-elf-flavours.33890/ what is different between each forks. Have You read it?

For that purpose, use last uLE developed by EP and Dlanor, which is 4.42d. Because it is last well tested of all features, and in times when community was very large. If You want FTP.

But we have now SMB support. Experimental but easier for none technical people than FTP.

Well, it shows up as LaunchELF in GitHub, so what does that have to do with limited space on the TV screen?
I've said TV screen. Do You know what TV screen is? Does TV screen is GitHub project title? On top-right corner You have name uLanuchELF + version, on the top-left there is space for user's title. If top-right could be "double unofficial LaunchELF" + version, then there will be no left on the left free space.

When do those changes happen, on average?
When repository owner decide it is proper time.

Why doesn't the 2019-01-07 build have a BOOT.ELF and are you also stuck at loading NetFS and FTP Server Modules when running GitHub's development wLE release's PS2Net?
"BOOT.ELF" is a filename... Can by any. Like i.e You can name Your wLE as e.g "pink unicorn.elf". It doesn't matter...
Second part of question have no sense to me.

Should I download the 1.9 FMCB fork (which I guess it's one of these) or the other 1.9 FCMB release?
You should save You a headache and download some app collections like mine below... It contains everything or almost everything up until 2021-05. Everything well sorted, with full names, all resources and libs.

I agree with Berion. @Windows10User, you should download AIO project for all your HB needs and then, grab the newest OPL versions from:
https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/releases
And don't forget POPStarter Game Installer for OPL: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/popstarter-game-installer-for-opl.34243/
And maybe, go to the PS2 Scene Discord and grab the brand new Hugopocked POPStarter fixes there...

wLE is a literal bloatware. Anyone wants to add his own changes to the thing, but the main one is so minx up it gets very, very screwed.
So, grab the LATEST STABLE one, which is the one inside FMCB 1.966.
I will attach it bellow:

Do you how to find this version elsewhere on PSX-Place?

That is the version installed by this FMCB installer, 4.43a?

What do you mean by SMB and it being easier to setup than FTP? I only use SMB when using OPL and POPStarter and for me it's easier to setup FTP on wLE than SMB on OPL and POPStarter.

Ok, my mistake, but why would it be called "double unofficial"?

I don't understand what you said. Where's LaunchELF build 2019/01/07's BOOT.ELF? FTP isn't working in wLE latest development build.

But what FMCB version does it have and what if it comes with apps I don't want?

What are those? Are they different from the previously mentioned cumulative fixes and are they only available on Discord?

It simply doesn't exist...!

The last "LaunchELF" is over 15 years old...
2019 = wLE

You DO regurgitate the same questions over and over again and you do not even comprehend what you have been told, as this is one of the perfect examples of.

I won't answer to any of the other of your nonsense, because it is simply a waste of time which I rather invest in people who actually want to comprehend, instead of remembering one sentence and when the next one is read, the old one is off the heap/stack/buffer in your mind.

How to find it? Get it from the FMCB installer
Yes, it is that one. I told ya before.

Remove what you don't like, add what you want and then edit the CNF file using the configurator

Yes, these are brand new and are only available at Discord and elotrolado.net and the license states they can not be reposted elsewhere.

All of the other questions you asked has already been answered and carefully explained here in this thread. Please, read it again entirely and carefully. Take your time to do it.

Good for you. It isn't my fault the PS2 homebrew scene is this complicated and there are so many releases of each app. Also, some of my questions weren't answered, unlike what you say.

I don't think they have.

Then do "Single sentence quotes" (mark and click quote) and show us which have not been answered...

If you can not provide either a question where I or someone like @Coldheart2236 or another mod sees an answer to, OR if you fail to do single sentence quotes, this thread is going to be closed!
