PS3 (SOLVED) Downgrading from 4.85 to 4.84

Hi. I have a flashed 4.85 CFW Overflow console.

I have Toggle QA Flag.

And I have selected to downgrade REBUG 4.84.2 REX.

And then, when all finished...

--

I have downgraded to 4.65 OFW.
I have downloaded REBUG from official website (rebug.me)

--

What happened?

This used to a lot bigger of a problem before we had Ps3xploit. Joonie made this a part of Rebug way back in 4.30 if I recall. Happened to me a long time ago and I had to buy an E3 flasher to get back to CFW. Glad ya got it sorted. While I appreciate Bobby making his 4.85 seems his and the other few out there are plagued with issues. The Rebug team is on a break so maybe in a month or so we will see it updated at least a Lite version as I know they don't have the DEX PUP to make a REX yet

Now we can close this thread
Well, we dont use to close threads when solved, i agree keeping it opened is a bit pointless, but just because it has been mentioned that patch and 4.85 CFW Overflow maybe someone have something related with it to tell
We dont know if the patch was not included on purpose... or is included but not working... or whatever

If someone wants to clarify it please do, and incase there is something to report please advise in the 4.85 CFW Overflow official thread

I'm trying again, if this works.

Sorry was editing when you replied. It works I assure you. It's little pieces like this that make Rebug a superior firmware choice. Just do what I did and use SEN Enabler to spoof to 4.85 for PSN access or since I am really lazy on my HEN system I just use Android version of PS3 Proxy to get my 4.84.2 HFW online.

Thanks! I'm installing Rebug right now.

I'm wondering about REBUG 4.85...

It's not just his CFW the other two I tried have these patches missing as well. While it's nice to have options it's things like this as to why I try to avoid them. If QA flagging isn't enabled prior to this one of the "new" 4.85 doesn't have QA flagging patched right. Luckily we can use the standalone app Habib made to remedy this and restore the ability.

As I said the guys are on at the very least a three week break. So even if they made one upon return it will be at least a month before we see one come around. And even then they don't have access to the 4.85 DEX PUP so it would only be Rebug CEX Lite only. Who knows maybe during their break they might obtain the 4.85 DEX PUP if Sony released one since 4.84 DEX still has online access without needing to spoof.

Another thing in the "todo" list is that aldo made some proposals to the cobra source code, @Joonie is the mantainer of cobra in github so i guess now he needs to review that proposals and decide which ones are added, if is needed to change something, etc...

The changes are important, so i guess will take some time, and probably they will increase the version number to "cobra 9x series"

Yeah I have those changes in Mamba 8.2 but it would be Habib to do that part. Joonies cooks the firmware and anything on that side while Habib maintains Cobra and the updates.

Well, not sure who takes the decissions, if joonie, habib, both, or more people, but i meant the cobra source code is hosted in a github account that belongs to joonie https://github.com/Joonie86
So in the hierarcy is joonie who needs to review and approve the new changes

yeah, you don't want to update from the recovery menu (if possible). I think you can select where to update from on the ps4, but the ps3 uses a hierarchy in recovery mode. you should be fine with qa and update debug. I usually don't remove discs. btw, rebug has update protection in the recovery menu, which changes the location to scan for updates via bd. with update debug, you can select where to update from.

Yeah he maintains that and both are aware of the updates but as to wether there is going to be an update is a totally different story. I brought it up on discord once asking if there was gonna be a Cobra 8.2 and didn't seem to Garner much interest. The ability to re-enable syscalls without the need to reboot is a feature I have wanted for a long time so it would be amazing to see that as well as the other goodies @aldostools has done. I really hope it does.
