PS3 [TUT]Mounting PS2 SingStar on PS3 using webMAN MOD mount_ps2 feature

Since @aldostools was nice enough to include this feature in the official builds of webMAN MOD, here is simple guide how to use extracted SingStar PS2 backups on SingStar PS3 version using the mount_ps2 webMAN MOD command.

PS3_Peripheral_Hero_WirelessMics_vf3.jpg

Personally I am using the mount_ps2 command, not sure if mount.ps2 does the same now. I will update wMM this weekend, currently still have 1.43.36 installed but it should work on the latest version unless aldo removed or edited this feature again.

  • What you will require:
    • An original PS2 game disc (any should work). Couldn't get it to work with a burned copy
    • PS3 with webMAN MOD accessible via home network (look up IP in network settings)

    How to:

1.Create a directory on internal/external and extract/copy the loose Singstar files to it.
    Example: "dev_usb001/Singstar/SingStar Pop/Pack_EE.PAK" etc.
    2. Load up any PS3 SingStar game
    3. In the song selection, press SELECT to open the change disc dialogue
    4. Eject your disc if there's one inside the PS3
    5. Now if you want to load the SingStar Pop from above, you should use this command:
    6. Then insert any PS2 disc. It should automatically load the mounted SingStar game.

  • Additional Info:
    • You can change discs as often as you want, but you always need to eject -> mount -> then insert physical disc again. Only do it on the change disc screen or the game will quit.
    • Maybe aldo already included a mounting feature within the webMAN MOD webpage, but I always did it manually this way.
    • I made myself a simple html landing page with links to mount all of my SingStar games, probably easier than typing in the urls every single time.
    • If you can't access webMAN MOD via web/browser or are unable to mount, try reinstalling the full version (hold L1 while launching the webMAN MOD installer). I had to do this after upgrading to 4.81.1 Rebug.

Hi, thanks for the Tutorial and the hints, but I still can't seem to get it to work no matter what I tried.

I tried it with both the SingStar App from the XMB and a PS3 Singstar game from an External HDD at USB 001 (I Used SongStar Intro). And It tried mounting the PS2 game (I tried Singstar Pop and Singsat Anthems) with the Folder placed as A Subfoler within Singstar Intro, within its own Singstar Folder on USB 001 (/dev_usb006/GAMES/Singstar/SingStar Pop) and even placing it within hdd000/PS2ISO. And I tried both mounting it with Mount.ps2 and mount_ps2. (e.g. http://192.168.178.[myps3]/mount_ps2/dev_usb001/GAMES/Singstar/SingStar Pop.

Nothing Works. I always get a "404 Not Found" error message followed by the location ( /dev_hdd0/mount_ps2/dev_usb001/GAMES/Singstar/SingStar Pop or /dev_hdd0/mount_ps2/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/SingStar Pop - note that the result is the same whether I use a folder structure without spaces or use %20 or + in lieu of the spaces.) Needless to say, inserting a original PS2 disc only results in a "Not a Singstar disc" message. Mounting and using PS3 SingStar games on the swap disc prop works without a hitch.

I'm on:
WebmanMOD 1.47.31
Ferrox Cobra CFW 4.87 (also tried it with 4.86 before, same result)
PS3 FAT CECHL04

I would be thankful for any pointers.
i see this on webman commands thread:

/mount.ps2/<path> - mount extracted PS2 game folder as /dev_ps2disc (for SingStar - req. real PS2 disc for disc swap)
/mount.ps2/unmount - unmount game from /dev_ps2disc
*these ps2 features are not included in distributed binaries

So those commands are not actually usable anymore. you can try with the old version that kozarovv links above but it is very old.

The command is available in the full edition. Isn't it working?

I just tested it mounting a extracted PS2ISO in *FOLDER* format and /dev_ps2disc was mapped correctly to that folder. The device /dev_ps2disc is not visible if you mount it from XMB, but if I recall correctly the SingStar game mounts that /dev_ps2disc

i didn't try it. in the webman commands thread, it says what i put in red text above. it seems to say the commands were removed. maybe they were re-added and the note should be removed from the other command list thread?

Yes it was removed from the standard edition. Now it's only included in the full edition.

That was it! I had thought that I'd installed the Full Version, but apparently I was only running Standard. Upgrading to Full did the trick. Thanks!

Hi, first of all i'm french so sorry if my english looks weird
I'm having an issue with mounting singstar.

Everthing's fine till i have to mount PS2 Singstar game (iso)...
When I remove the disk then send the mount link (ipAdress/mount.ps3/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/Singstar/Singstar80.iso) in my browser i'm getting an error.
Webman gives me a link to mount using /mount.ps3 (ipAdress/mount.ps3/dev_hdd0/PS2ISO/Singstar/Singstar80.iso).
When I click on it, browser is refreshing and I saw on my ps3 a message like "Singstar80.iso installed" but Singstar gives a message like "The disk isn't singstar game". Then I put PS2 disk game on my PS3 but the message don't change.

I've try to move iso on dev_hdd0/PS2ISO, dev_hdd0/PS2DISK, ... but still the same

I'm on 4.87 hen using wMAN MOD 1.47.34, also I've seen somewhere that I was on FULL version of webman.

I can add pictures if you don't understand me or if it will helps you

Hope there's a solution, my family can't wait to play, lot of weight on my shoulders lol...

Thanks so much to all people who will help me,
Have a good day!

Hi, any news or things to try?
Thanks!
You're doing it wrong:
- This feature is to use the PS2 SingStar tracks in the PS3 edition of SingStar (ISO or JB games)
- The PS2 SingStar must be in folder format (that is extracted ISO; ISO or PS2 Classic are not supported)
- The PS2 SingStar backup can be stored in any folder in HDD0 or USB (FAT32 only). /net, NTFS or exFAT are not supported by the web command /mount.ps2.

- The PS3 edition of SingStar is launched normally with /mount.ps3 command on the PS3
- The PS2 SingStar is mounted in-game using /mount.ps2 command from a PC or smartphone
- Once the PS2 backup disc is mounted as /dev_ps2disc, you must insert a PS2 disc to trigger the disc change.

Thanks for the help Aldo!

So:

1) I created a new folder into PS2DISC call SingstarEighties and move my Singstar.iso into it
(/dev_hdd0/PS2DISC/SingstarEighties/Singstar.iso)
Guess it's the good way to have Singstar in folder format?

2) Launched a PS3 Singstar game and activated the swapping method

3) Removed the PS3 game

4) In my screen Singstar asked to insert a Singstar Disk

5) Launched http://myIpAdress/mount_ps2/dev_hdd0/PS2DISC/SingstarEighties
(Tried with /mount.ps2 too)

6) Webman gave me a successful message "Game successfully loaded. Launch the game from the disc icon or from / app_home in the XMB "

7) Inserted a PS2 Game : "Gran Turismo 4" into my console

8) Then my screen changed to something like : "The inserted disc is not a SingStar disc. Remove current disc and insert Singstar disc"

So I guess it's not a problem about version of webman, hen, ... because of the successful message from webman. Maybe my understanding of Singstar in folder format that is wrong?
Also I've renamed Singstar.iso. The folder/file is originaly [PS2] SingStar 80s [F] [SCES-53603].7z/SingStar '80s (France).iso

The content of the ISO must be extracted in /dev_hdd0/PS2DISC/SingstarEighties

It cannot be /dev_hdd0/PS2DISC/SingstarEighties/Singstar.iso

If you cannot read English, try using a translator, I cannot be more clear:
"The PS2 SingStar must be in FOLDER FORMAT (that is extracted ISO; ISO or PS2 Classic are not supported)"

I'm fine with english but feel so dumb right now...
I didnt knew that ISO was extractable, so "Folder format" was a bit confusing.

So right know I've extracted my ISO file:

I launch ps3 singstar, use swap option, eject manually the disk, use: http://192.168****/mount_ps2/dev_hdd0/GAMES/SingstarEighties then get this:

21022412442127027.png

Then I insert a ps2 disk and still get the "Not a singstar disk"

I've reinstalled wMAN MOD with L1 to be sure that I'm on full edition
The version is 1.47.34

Thanks so much for your help and time @aldostools

@aldostools

Sorry I can't edit my last message

I've also try to rename files from iso in uppercase, downloaded an other Singstar, but still get this damn "Not a singstar disk..."

Don't know if u have some tips left...
If u want we can look at this on discord or any other plateformes, I don't want to spam this topic but u probably my only chance to get this working :blue:

I was having some similar issues to get this to work but now managed to get it working
1) As per instructions updated to the latest FULL version of webman (webMAN_MOD_1.47.37_Installer), this gets rid of 404 web command error as mentioned.
2) As per instructions created folder on hdd, copied the extraction of singstar ps2 iso disk
3) I mounted/burned an iso copy of one of the singstar ps2 games to a blank dvd
4) On the PS3, I opened Singstars Vol 3 (BCES00031) via webman games (on ps3 hard drive), can't confirm if other PS3 singstar games also work this method.
5) Get into game songs, press switch disk option, comes up with eject disk message
6) As per instructions run web command, myIpAdress/mount_ps2/dev_hdd0/Singstar/Rocks
7) Message box on PS3 should change and say insert disk, i then insert copied PS2 DVD, message comes up reading disk 0 to 100 % and then you're in, songs work, usb wireless mics work. So you don't need an original PS2 disk, but you do need a copy (cant confirm if it helps being a PS2 singstar copy).
8) you can then proceed with steps 5-7 to load another PS2 singstar disk on your hard drive without quitting the game.

Just further findings, all PS3 games that I have seem to work except ultimate party.
Also if you want to change any PS2/PS3 singstar game loaded on your PS3 hardrive sitting on your couch from your phone the following generally works for me:

Start)
Leave a PS2 copied disc in your disc drive
Load any PS3 singstar game via webman games (except ultimate party)
Have a clickable list handy on your phone of games/commands
Option 1) To quick load another PS3 singstar game from a PS3 game
a) disc swap
b) http://myIP/mount_ps3/dev_hdd0/GAMES/SingstarPS3Game
Option 2) To quick load a PS2 singstar game from PS3 & PS2
a) disc swap
b) eject disc http://myIP/eject.ps3
c) mount http://myIP/mount_ps2/dev_hdd0/Singstar/SingstarPS2Game
d) insert disc http://myIP/insert.ps3
Option 3) To go back from PS2 singstar game to PS3 singstar game
a) disc swap
b) eject disc http://myIP/eject.ps3
c) http://myIP/mount_ps3/dev_hdd0/GAMES/SingstarPS3Game

Have you ever managed to solve the issue as I'm sitting with the same problem

The content of the ISO must be extracted in /dev_hdd0/PS2DISC/SingstarEighties

It cannot be /dev_hdd0/PS2DISC/SingstarEighties/Singstar.iso

If you cannot read English, try using a translator, I cannot be more clear:

I have done everything exactly the same. Still can't get it to load, it keeps saying nota singstar disc. Any advice please

Make sure that you're using the full edition.
SingStar PS2 disc support is not available in the default or lite editions

You also need a PS2 disc (any disc) to trigger the insert/eject events in /dev_ps2disc

You can check in the file manager if /dev_ps2disc was really mounted

I checked everything again to no avail. Not sure what I missed.

Full version is installed

This is the file structure

Successfully loaded
