1. Personally I consider YT as a bad source of information for console hacking.
It's not because I believe that all YT sources are bad but rather because noobs are usually not capable to sort out the good from the bad.
Imho noobs should stick to information provided by specialised console forums because the information is always verified. If someone makes a mistake (it happens to everyone, even the most advanced users), the mistakes are quickly flagged up & the dodgy information gets corrected.

2. License activation will not lead to a ban because it doesn't require you to connect to PSN.

3. Since HAN was released months ago, only 2 users reported getting banned. Considering that HAN is being used by thousands upon thousands of users, it's clear that the ban risk is close to null.
And it is likely that the 2 bans reported were caused by other modifications than HAN, such as game mods/cheats used on a particular online game server, which were detected by the game server administrators & reported to s#ny.
In any case, users should always proceed with adequate caution when using PSN, especially when gaming online.

4. There is only one way to activate a PSN game license ie you need to copy a valid rif license file for the game in the appropriate ps3 folder.
To produce a valid rif file, you need to first dump your idps & your act.dat file.
The act.dat file is created the first time a user connects to PSN to activate the system, if a user doesn't connect to PSN at least once, there will be no act.dat file in his user profile folder.
Finally, in order to generate the rif license file, you will also need the game's rap file. Each game has a specific rap file.

Once you have the console's idps, the user's act.dat & the game's rap file, you can use the ps3xploit resigner app to produce a valid rif license which will need to be copied into the ps3 home folder tree.
The ps3xploit resigner takes care of producing a pkg containing the rif file, installing the pkg will copy the file in the right folder.

Yeah but you forgot the fact that YB is more noob friendly as it is way easier to just follow the video than search in forums and find a thread and follow written instructions.
And yes, you are totally right, it is hard to find a good video.

I didn't forget that fact at all & I partly disagree, YT is not more noob friendly because half the YT contributions are either incomplete, misleading or plain full of rubbish. Like I already said, usually a noob cannot distinguish between the good & the bad. If you cannot totally trust the info, that makes YT "noob unfriendly" in my book but that's my own opinion, you don't have to share it. ;)
Imho noobs will always be better off with a correct written description than with a dodgy video. Once you have established what the correct info is, you can always refer to the YT videos afterwards if needed.
Additionally, you are more likely to get proper help & further explanations on a forum than you ever will be on YT.

That would be a licensing error.

Here is its meaning:
80029513
SCE_NP_DRM_ERROR_NO_ENTITLEMENT
This content cannot be accessed on your account.

Have you installed the rif pkg produced by the resigner?
1. If ever you downloaded the pkg file ready to install, without a proper license (which is piracy btw), it's normal to get this error as no license was installed by the game pkg.
2. If not, you probably omitted a step or whatever.
Refer to the ps3xploit tutorial to make sure you are completing the resigning process properly before installing both the game pkg & the rif pkg.

Btw isn't this game a ps3 game only available on PSN? If it is, you are posting in the wrong thread! This thread is for emulated games.

Hi. Was trying to convert Yakuza 2 (Europe-PAL) from a PS2 ISO to a HAN-compatible PS3 pkg using ps2classics_GUI_2.1 . I'm pretty sure I did all the steps exactly right but I just get a blank screen, a few pixels of graphical corruption in the upper left screen, followed by it crashing back to the PS3 XMB. Y2 is on the compatibility list as Playable so has anyone else had success with this one?

Just a quick question from someone who's not too experienced with PS2 to PS3 pkg conversion or even PS3 stuff in general: is there a way to upscale PS2 games or bump to a higher resolution rather than PS2 native when making packages with ps2classics_GUI_2.2.2 or whatever? Some emulator config setting or something? It's great that we can do this at all, but it would be cool to see it look a little better. Sorry if this is a silly query.

If I remember correctly, there are widescreen patches available for some ps2 games. The patch is applied to your dumped iso and then you can use the patched iso along with the usual steps to convert it to a classic.
It's gives much better views when there's more screen to fill.

Before I found this out though, some games have widescreen support already built in. Such as grand theft auto games where you enable widescreen in the ingame settings menu. Then you push the playstation button and change the video settings to stretch image
