You should probably consider CFW over HEN.
Everything is so much easier with CFW. Ps2 iso support was one deciding factor for me. I also never got PSP Launchers working with HEN. But worked perfectly on CFW. There's also additional things like access to your EID root key which is helpful when trying to access hdd while its connected to a PC.
I find things just work better over all on CFW.

I know the ps3xploit NAND/NOR Patcher may be a little hard to follow at first. But once it's done, it's done. You can install any CFW you want and not have to use the NAND/NOR patcher again.

Answer to your question, yes. HEN is compatible with all Ps3 models

You can use this guide to install HEN on any system/PS3 you want!
 
Don't know if this is the right place to ask or I should open a new thread, but here it goes: I've downloaded .pkg updates 1.7, 1.8 and 1.9 for a game, do I need to install all 3 or just the newest one?

You can check the info in sony servers with your PC web browser, i explained how ito do it in post #10 of this thread

There is an XML file for each game, in it you can see the available updates for that game, his versions, the order of how should be installed, and also it can be seen if the previous patches was superceeded by the new ones

The point is... you need to install them in the same exact order that appears in that XML... and you should install only the patches that appears in the XML

Your choice. You don't need to sign into to PSN to download updates on Ps3. So no risk involved really.

To be fair, stand alone emulators aren't used much these days as Retroarch has most emulator cores all in a single package.

That is awesome. You can update any game via online without risking PSN account. Well done sir.

Which means my last question was pretty much useless. Just needed to install the game and let it update by itself :sem blush:
 
Probably a dumb question, but can I log off my PSN account after activating the console? I don't want to risk it being lost, since I have games on it.

Yes. I also have games on my account and got no problems playing them with my psn logged off
 
I'm setting up my PS3 slim from OFW 4.53, I've done Part One step 1 and 2 (HFW 4.84 installed), but Part 1 step 3 (ACT/IDPS) prompting me to update to 4.85 to connect to PSN. Is there a way to do this now or I shall wait for updated guide? Thanks.

That's actually the main thing that needs changing....

Ummm... Have you tried a proxy?
There might be homebrew that can spoof your version number for 4.85 so you can activate.

If you've ever purchased from PSN in the past and downloaded and played from the store, you may already have an act.dat file...
