Hi all, almost 2 years ago, I followed the "now obsolete guide" for the PS3 Slim HAN.
Now, I didn't remember where exactly I stopped to follow the guide, but on one of my last message in this forum I wrote:
"Hello! I followed this guide months ago and stopped to do anything because I did not know how to install games...
Anyway, since I followed the guide until the PART 3 - HAN Toolbox(that i have completed) what i have to do now? The problem is that i do not have anymore the ACT.DAT and IPS.HEX files (lost somewhere) How can i recover these two?"

Starting to this, what are the steps that I have to do, in order to make my PS3 work and install some games??

You can still follow the old HAN guide. I only removed download links. The whole guide is still valid, it's just HEN can do so much more than HAN.

Best thing to do is just follow this guide.

Yes.... This guide. This guide covers everything you need

EDIT: Also, act.dat/idps.hex files don't need to be dumped to resign games. HEN has a an auto activation feature. So no more resigning.

Just start from the top. You shouldnt mess anything up. If you do, it's a simple as reinstall OFW and starting again.

Thank you Fin9, I'm stuck at 2.HFW, I enter recovery mode > system update > start + select > and then a black screen say "A serious error has occured. Contact techincal support..."
Edit: Tried another time and the same error appeared
Edit2:Nevermind, tried with another pendrive and it worked

I'm just seeing the hen 3.00 category_game.xml for curiosity sake

I see the text ENABLE HEN.

I'm wondering the possibility of moving it to another xml and when the hen loads ( maybe a bin?, i didn't checked it since i don't have hen) but the 'loader" can just swap the file with another with the text HEN ENABLED and without the module action, so it couldn't be activated again

1. Can I delete the ISO after I've installed in the PS3? If yes, where, in /PS3ISO Folder?
2. Loaded the game, it ask me to sign in and download an update...Do I say yes or not?

You can update your games as no psn sign in is required for these.
You will need to keep the ISO and mount it each time you want to play it unfortunately. As the "disc" is still needed to play the game

Hello guys ! new in the PSX Place....I'm following the tutorial but I'm stuck in the first steps : I managed to install the 4.84 update, but when I try to install the HFW on recovery mode i recieve a message saying no update application found. I suspected that the PS3 isn't detecting the USB stick, but again, I used the same stick one to update to 4.84 with no problems. Need help :/

Did you rename the HFW pup to "PS3UPDAT.PUP"?

Im searching for answers everywhere but I can't found anything , im scare mostly of a brick, as far as I can see there shouldn't be any problem but I want confirmation from you.

Hello mate. According to your console model, the only option you have available is to install HFW 4.85.1 (Hybrid Firmware) and then proceed to install HEN. Your console is not compatible with CFW (Custom Firmware). I recommend that you follow the instructions in this guide, which ensures you do not make mistakes. I hope I have been helpful. regards.

Of course. You can install your backup copies of your games on your console. For PS3 games I recommend the ISO format, since it has greater compatibility than the folder format. In that case, the games are not installed. Only copies on the console HDD, or an external HDD, as I use. You execute them using some manager (WebMAN MOD for example). You can also install PS3 games, but this time in pkg format, copying the rap file to the "exdata" folder of your console. There are tutorials for that. Very simple. In the case of PS2 and PSX, you can load the backups in the console (or external HDD) and execute them using the respective emulators. I recommend the WebMAN MOD plugin for that. I followed the steps up to enabling HEN ,but when I attempted to enable HEN my PS3 froze and I was forced to reboot and retry multiple times.

At this point I decided to do a full system restore and revert to OFW 4.85 and restarted the guide. Once again I ran into the same problem of my PS3 freezing when attempting to enable HEN.

I would greatly appreciate some help troubleshooting this.

Are you enabling HAN Flash Mount?

Your probs better off using the HEN Auto Install option (Method 1) as this is very very easy and simple
