It's summer and you're bored; what do you do with that amount of free time? You create "Apollo", a new homebrew app for the PS3! :D

  • you might wonder... why is it called Apollo?
Apollo was the twin brother of Artemis, goddess of the hunt. Since this project was born using the Artemis-GUI codebase, I decided to respect that heritage by calling it Apollo.

So, without further ado, let's present Apollo:

Apollo Save Tool is an application to manage save-game files on the PlayStation 3.
The apollo-ps3 homebrew app allows to download, unlock, patch and resign save-game files directly on your PS3.

    Features:
    • Easy to use: no crypto-key configuration or advanced setup needed.
    • Standalone: no computer required, everything happens on the PS3.
    • Save files listing: quick access to all the save files on USB and the internal PS3 HDD (+ file details)
    • Save SFO unlocking: allows the user to remove the copy-lock flag, enabling transfer of Copying Prohibited save files.
    • Save files patching: supports Bruteforce Save Data and Game Genie cheat patches to enhance your save-games.
    • Save PFD resigning: allows the user to resign save files made by other users and consoles.
    • Save downloading: access to an Online Database of save-game files to download straight to your PlayStation.

Finished attempting this. Still no luck, getting the same error. Happy to report that the other option you mentioned for the CFW PS3 does work, though, so thank you for that!

it looks like your xRegistry.sys has some issues, I can't really say what's happening as nobody has reported problems when using Apollo on HEN.

not the best alternative, but I'd test with a clean formatted HDD, and a clean HEN install, then try Apollo to activate this clean ps3 setup.
(I don't know about any other alternatives for activations on HEN, except going online)

Apollo Save Tool v1.7.0 is out!
https://github.com/bucanero/apollo-ps3/releases/tag/v1.7.0

Changes:
  • Added local Web Server (download saves as .Zip)
  • Save-game selection (press SELECT to tag items)
    • Copy/Resign selected saves (Bulk Management)
  • Improved listings (items count)
  • New custom checksum support
    • LEGO Marvel Avengers
    • LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Notes: to run the web server, open the "HDD saves" or "USB saves" menus, click on "Bulk management" and select "start local web server".

A simple http server will be running on port 8080 until you click "OK" on the screen dialog. The only useful feature on the web server is to download the save-games as .ZIP files, so just run it if you want to backup your saves.

quick note: I've updated the 1.7.0 .pkg file with a small improvement to the local web server. I added a script to do lazy loading for the save-game images on the web browser.

I noticed that when listing a lot of save-games, the browser would try to load all the images at once and that could hammer the tiny web server with a ton of connections at once.

Anyways, re-download the .pkg from Github if you're going to use the local webserver for better experience.

Hi!
There's another way around to Apollo activate act.dat every time we enable hen without having to use webman?
Webman just stopped working here, and i'm having to use sman instead, since loading backups with webman causes my system to freeze.

if you can't wait for the new HEN version, I built some PS3HEN.BIN some time ago, those are un-official HEN payloads with the patch to restore the act.dat on boot. I don't have the link right here but if you search the Apollo threads it should show up as I shared it in the forum and some users were testing and using it.

Thank you very much everyone.
It's incredible how kind and helpful you guys are.
And a special thanks to Bucanero for all the effort put on this tool.

Having issue with Assassins creed 2 save file, Apollo isn't able to unlock save file to enable copying to USB

Also, Apollo isn't able to copy saves to USB stick. Just says directory not found, even though I have the correct directory /dev_usb00x/PS3/SAVEDATA/

Any ideas on whats going on?

Note* I'm able to copy saves from XMB to USB no problem. Apollo is also able to display current saves on the USB just not copy to USB.

are you talking about removing the "locked" flag on the XMB? if the save is on HDD, even after Apollo removes the lock flag, you need to rebuild the database or else the XMB will still have the save tagged as "Locked" in the internal HDD database.

are you trying to copy a save from HDD to USB with Apollo? is the latest version? does it happen with every save on the HDD , or just the assassin creed save?

have you tried the "bulk management" options? those fail too?
have you tried exporting the save as .ZIP? or any other option?
Also, with the webserver option you could download the save with your computer

I'd suggest enabling the debug logs from the Settings menu, and retry everything... then with some logs I might be able to get an idea.

Also, anyone else with a PS3 and latest Apollo , are you able to copy a save to USB?

Sorry my bad, forgot you had to rebuild the database for it to remove copy protection.

Although after removing the copy lock via Apollo and rebuilding the database, I found an error whilst attempting to copy the save to USB stick (said save was corrupted and failed to copy)(Game save worked fine though when loading up game).

I also noticed after loading the game, saving and returning to XMB, I found the save was copy locked again.
I presume this is unique to assassins creed 2 and it just re-applies the copy protection.

Again, this is my fault. I use my USB stick through a USB port expander and upon looking via FTP I noticed the USB stick has a directory /dev_usb003/

I think Apollo only has directory options for saving to /dev_usb000/ or /dev_usb001/
So It wouldn't be able to see my USB.

Thanks for your help!
Much appreciated

honestly, as we can't update the internal DB, doing the "unlock + rebuild" is quite a pain and I think it's better to just copy the locked save to USB (using Apollo, a file manager, FTP, or whatever method) and then use Apollo to unlock+resign the USB copy.

The "re-lock" after you play the game and save again is expected, and at least from my experience it happens on all the games that use copy locks. That can't be avoided unless a kind of patch was added to a CFW or HEN that skips the lock flag when any game calls the ps3 save functions.

Again, this is my fault. I use my USB stick through a USB port expander and upon looking via FTP I noticed the USB stick has a directory /dev_usb003/

yes, the "copy to USB" is hard-coded with two options, USB-0 and USB-1. I know this could be improved with a dynamic menu that actually scans and shows the different USB drives available. But for that, I'd need to refactor some code to support dynamic options on the 3rd-level menus... and again, too many projects, platforms and stuff going on so I haven't done it.

Iirc there should be at least one function in game_ext plugin that can be used to update the DB and reload the game category. Check the wiki, I think it's in the list, I assume that's what the system uses when you install a game...

...

Why don't you just get the mount points list instead of hardcoding possible paths?
It ONLY takes a couple of syscalls (0x349 and 0x34A) to extract the entire list including any USB and CF/SD cards plugged in, that's what I use in the PS3 Toolset. I can give you the data needed to implement it if you need.

Hi @bucanero ! I'm trying to use your amazing tool to remove the Lock on my Assassin's Creed II savegame but it just corrupts 1 of the 2 files so I can't do it. Is there something I am missing? Here you can find it attached: https://mega.nz/file/loV0VRbJ#Z9hwEQNyLrHXs-hk9_vxpjlle_yMxj-FUABCakKzXcY

I'd be really happy if you could help me with this since I upgraded to an SSD and now my PS3 won't recognize the save (unless I can successfully remove the lock and copy it to the console through the XMB).

Thanks in advance and thanks for developing this tool, I managed to remove the lock in other 2 games with it :)

I too had trouble with AC2. You cannot remove the lock permanently as it re-applies the lock every time the game uses the save or overwrites it.

Remember to rebuild the PS3 database every time after you've modified your save or the changes won't be applied/recognised.

for a quick fix, if you have the same account-id, and as long as you have an original valid/working save, you can:
- start the game AC2, create a save, then exit the game.
- Next use FTP or file manager to overwrite the new "blank" save with your original files (overwrite every file).
- Next, you should be able to open the game and load the "fake empty save" and your data will be loaded.

btw, you were removing the AC2 copy-lock with Apollo, right? and the save was still working fine afterwards, correct?

I think that AC2 is not using encryption (the data files are un-encrypted plain stuff) but I don't remember anything special about it. So regular resigning should be working ok, like any other game.

Yes, I was removing the lock with apollo and resigning to a different account. But after the save gets rewritten then the lock is re applied.

I think I had the game flagged the data as corrupt a few times but i just repeated the process and it was ok.

Was just a little annoying having to unlock it rebuild the database every time I needed to transfer and play it on another console, but ok otherwise.

Plus it was a bit annoying that it was copy protected so you couldn't copy it via the PS3 save manager to a usb (I just FTP'd it to my PC or used Apollo to do the copy).

Note* would be useful to have a pop-up reminder in Apollo to remind users to carry out a database rebuild after a resign/unlock operation as many people aren't aware or forget.
